Sakura was basically doomed to this plot area specifically because of two things, her lack of true character development and her lack of ninja development. She might sound more mature or say bigger words but rest assured, Sakura is the exact same character from the beginning all the way to the end of the full series. She’s self-centered and too focused on her petty crush on Sasuke to do anything, even ignoring the lovable idiot of Naruto doing everything to protect her, show he cares and so on. On top of that, her actual ninja ability was practically zero in the first part of Naruto, she did showcase her better chakra control and medical jutsu in the beginning of Shippuden but it was only to show that 3 years did indeed do something for her, even if it basically just turned her into a young Tsunade. Each of the main characters takes on a familiar role similar to the Sannin they respectively train under, but there are distinct differences in both the jutsu variety, combat style and personality - between Jiraiya and Naruto, and Orochimaru and Sasuke. However, Sakura wants to get better, but the best she can do is basically just turn herself into Taunade. The only difference being that I actually like Tsunade, because Sakura still won’t take on the position of a leader or someone who has trained under a Sannin and knows what they were doing
Tbh I didn’t really have a problem with Sakura until her fake love confession to Naruto. That pissed me off. You don’t mess with someone’s feelings like that. I was so glad that Naruto called her on her BS.

The Fight with Ino is even more hilarious, because Ino would've won, if not for that complete asspull, that Sakura's fierce inner voice, which had been used for comedy, is actually a split personality that helps Sakura overcome the mind control jutsu. This supposed Split personality is never brought up again.

How did Swagkage not mention one of the most infuriating things she did - failing to stab Obito's Rinnegan eye when she had the time and chance to do it, as well as Obito *begging* her go do it?
The Rinnegan eye? I think Madara still would have been able to take it. It would have been better if it was destroyed, that way Madara would have had to go for Sasuke's Rinnegan instead, which would have been more difficult to get. If Sasuke got Madara's Rinnegan, he would probably been nerfed since his MS is quite good. Naruto would be confused as to how to use it and the fact that he does not have an Uchiha body would mean that the Rinnegan would drain even more chakra than usual. Kakashi having it would lead to the same problem.
johnyk891 That may be true, but naruto was stated to have the SO6P's body (also Nagato handled the rinnegan quite well) so he wouldnt suffer any side effects of the eye. Naruto having a rinnegan probably wouldnt have been useful in the battle agaist madara, but he probably would've gotten quite adept to it by the time Kaguya was revived. Sasuke got a lot better with it between the time he got it and the end of the war. Now, as if Kakashi of the sharingan wasnt op enough, imagine Kakashi of the rinnegan.
Ahmed Ramadanov Well, the one who actually had the SO6P's body was Madara, and that was towards the end. Naruto was not even close. Nagato was actually quite bad with the Rinnegan in my opinion. Very early he became disabled. All it took was him summoning the 10 tails husk once and his body was destroyed. The six paths of pain got Nagato tired quite quickly. In comparison, look at Obito with his version of the 6 paths of pain. He controlled far more powerful individuals. And when they were defeated, he transferred their chakra to the husk pretty much instantly. And when he used the 10 tails husk on the battlefield where Darui was fighting, he had absolute control over it. He did not need those rods like Nagato. And it was a husk filled with 6 tailed beasts. The one Nagato used was empty. I do not think Naruto would become adept with the Rinnegan that quickly. He has never had an actual dojutsu. Sasuke, on the other hand, had a lot of experience with the most similar dojutsu to the Rinnegan - the Sharingan. Plus, he is a genius, unlike Naruto, so him getting the hang of it fairly quickly is not surprising. Kakashi of the Rinnegan sounds quite awesome but I suspect that he might accidentally kill himself by using Rinnegan abilities that use too much chakra :D. That is why I think he is actually stronger without the Sharingan. He has a lot more chakra to use.
I think she would've been vastly better if she acknowledged that she wasn't a frontline fighter after the original series, and focused fully on support. When she's supporting others, she can help them prevail when they'd otherwise die (such as giving Naruto's heart a handy). When she's fighting, she's almost universally aside from her battle against Sasori...where she literally needed a different character to control her movements for her.
Also sakura was always surrounded by the most powerfull people..i mean she had two hokages as teacher..her teammates got beyond op with time,yamato was a skilled anbu and jonin and had hashirama's wood style although on a much lower scale..even sai was a really skilled anbu
Sakura was on the road to redemption in Shippuden. Then the Sasuke arc happened. I seriously fail to understand why Kishimoto focused so heavy on this Sasuke obsession. He came to realize that that wasn't what people wanted from her character, yet he doubled down on that very trait of hers during the 5 kage summit and the war arcs. What kind of logic is that? What was the point? The biggest problem Kishimoto has with developing female characters is that he focuses too much on the FEMALE aspect and not on the CHARACTER aspect. Just focus on making a good character that happens to be female. Konan was a good character that happened to be female. Nearly all females in attack on Titan. Damn good characters. Revy from Black Lagoon is a good character that happens to be female. Damn near every girl in Toradora is a damn good character, like I said, all of which happen to be females in relatable circumstances. Sakura could've been great if he'd only stop having her regress to her former actions after her self reflection, and she's had alot of them. It makes no sense. Her character is literally progression followed by regression in a constant cycle with an obvious out thats been neglected at every chance.

To be real though she was poorly written and was actually planned to have more potential, by the end the best they could do was mirror her into a young Tsunade to recover some of her credit, the writers didn't handle fan feedback of her well, they seen people disliked her and then kind of just cut her character to nothing for most of the show, only later doing something with her for story sake so she could end up with Sasuke. This is sadly what happens when feedback on a time sensitive show goes wrong and the writers fail to adapt. Also its better to look at her as a side character rather then a main and others as support characters. Naruto and Sasuke are the only Main, while people like Kakashi, Sakura, Itachi are Support and then most others are Side or Filler.

Uhhh no she wasn't. Kishimito even said he had simply written Sakura in for the sake of a love triangle since he was aware some of his fans would like that. The only reason he kept her along as a main character was because at the time there was a number of people who liked her. Sure he probably tried to make her more relevant later on but the the truth is she was nothing more than a character whose purpose was to be a love sick puppy for Sasuke. Kishimoto admits he's not much for love writing so he kept that aspect light. Love her or hate her,truth of the matter is in comparison to the main cast she's pretty useless since she was never intended to be more than that.

It's still Kishimoto's fault for even writing a love interest in the first place, then refusing to go anywhere beyond that simply because he doesn't know anything else about women than "they like boys sometimes, I guess because they think boys are cute?". If he knows so little about female characters, he should have just avoided having them in the show altogether, maybe Sakura could have been a member of another team and team 7 could have just been a 2 ninja team. Or even better, maybe have a throwaway 3rd ninja be part of team 7 then have him die early on, using that to reinforce Sasuke's *really* weak character point of "moving without knowing to save someone else". Imagine if instead of Sakura on Team 7 Kishimoto had realized he couldn't write a female character to save his own life and a 3rd ninja died to save Sasuke in the first 1 or 2 missions, thus starting to create the heavy dichotomy in Sasuke's mind about not knowing if he should be worrying about his friends or cutting them away because those bonds only hurt him in the end? I have to do a *lot* of writing for my DND game, but something I never, *ever* do is include familial drama in the story; because I grew up pretty much 100% separated from my family, and I *know* I can't write *shit* about parental abandonment issues, or trauma with desperately trying to live up to one's mother's dreams, and shit like that. I know nothing about it, so I just *don't write it* so I won't make a huge fool of myself. Kishimoto self admittedly knows absolutely nothing about women, and still tried to force one into his main cast just cause he thought a manga with a love triangle would sell better than one without it, so hell yeah I'll blame him for how terrible the character ended up being.

sakura was annoying for being "obcessed" over sasuke, but naruto was too and people liked it. I think most people don't understand that both obcessions are more related to the fact that they didn't want to kill and see one of their best friends turn evil, more than just having a cruh on him or being friends. They felt like it was their resposability making sasuke see the light and that they could've done something to prevent sasuke from going rougue.
Because unlike Sakura, Naruto genuinely cares for Sasuke and can actually somewhat understand why he's doing what he's doing due to both of them having pretty sucky, lonely childhoods. They have a special bond with each other that justifies Naruto's obsession. Sakura doesn't. More importantly, Naruto didn't lie to one of his best friends and didn't drug the rest just so he could try to handle Sasuke solo (only to almost get killed, then almost get killed again because of hesistation).
It's great now that you have enjoyed the series, it is time to see through all the huge faults this series has. Swagkage is the best guy to watch for this. Hope to see more of these.
I think Sakura, while she certainly is useless at several points, is very much misunderstood... her obsessive love for sasuke seems to be to high light naruto’s failings of bringing sasuke back early on. Naruto didn’t try to understand sasuke, he didn’t try for equality he went for domination- “you’re coming back to the village even if I have to break every bone in your body!” While Sakura tried to understand him saying “I’ll give you love!” “I’ll make you happy!” “Vengeance won’t make anybody happy!” Granted it didn’t work but sasuke did respond to her much more kindly and respectfully but knowing she’d chase him he knocked her out. Kishimoto said that sasuke regretted leaving Sakura behind and it tore him up inside so while she may have failed to convince him she did get through to him on some level. Something else people often over look is the presence of mental illnesses in Naruto... during the 5 Kage summit arc Sakura was suicidally depressed and when she went to take out sasuke she was planning on killing her self too that’s way she wanted to go alone(Sakura even alludes to this in the manga and English version of the final few episodes when she cry’s out for sasuke to stay with her just before the final battle) and as for not using the strength of a hundred seal during the pain assault... she couldn’t... the diamond didn’t appear which indicates that the seal has built up enough chakra, she was also severely nerfed during most of the shippunden because almost ALL of her chakra was going into the seal so she tried avoiding fighting and was even winding by thing like long walks which was why tsunade was worried about Sakura working at the hospital at the time because she did have the chakra to spare on more advanced medical ninjutsu ...and that my thoughts on Sakura based on what swagkage said... no hate or disrespect just my thoughts. (Sorry for any grammatical errors but I’m too lazy to go back and seek them out to fix lol)

Honestly, a lot of what Swagkage was saying is wrong though. Sakura was the head medical ninja other than Tsunade, during Pain's attack. She saved many ninja's lives. A medical ninja is supposed to stay in the sidelines until there is no other choice but to fight. That's even what Tsunade told her. As well, Sakura actually does defeat one of Pain's centipede summons, with one punch. I would even argue that ever since the Sasori fight, Sakura was proven to be jounin level strength. It's true that she wasn't in many fights after that, but that makes sense, because her primary concern is medical ninjutsu. The problem is that the Naruto fanbase doesn't really use medical ninjutsu as "feats" the same way they use battles. Can you imagine how many lives Sakura has saved since the start of Shippuden? I dunno, it just seems like we're using the wrong measurements for her.
She failed to destroy Obito's Rinnegan even when he begged her to. Because of this action, Madara was able to steal it and activate the Infinite Tsukyonomi. Which means that the Shinobi alliance failed to stop it and it led to Kayguya appearing
I really feel that Sakura would have benefitted as a character if Kishimoto ever showed her falling out of love with Sasuke, considering all the times he looked down on her. I really don't know how he justified in his head to have Sakura keep loving Sasuke, even after Sasuke tried to axe her off multiple times with 0 regret/care. Just imagine a version of Naruto where Sakura realices how toxic Sasuke is, and how down right dangerous he has become after the timeskip, and then focus on having her improve herself/her other skills, instead of just having her be the cliche "person in love" trope whom, because of said cliche/trope, ignores all the massive, red flags thrown her way! Sakura could have been such a good opponent to Sasuke, using her own battle analytics skills against Sasuke's, using her earth and water elemental jutsus to counter his Chidori and fire based jutsus, along with her genjutsu skills to counter his Sharingan, and keeping herself and Naruto healed as Sasuke tracks their punches/kicks. Kishimoto gave her all these advantages, and then throws it all to the side so that he can have her go "Oooo Sasuke, have my babies" whenever she's around Sasuke instead! I wish there had been a Sakura focused arc between the 1st periode and shippuden where she 1) stops having feelings for Sasuke and becomes her own person whoms whole identity/existence doesn't revolve around him, and 2) realices she's going to have to rely/focus on herself as her teacher is busy only focusing on her team mates, and said team mates are always off getting stronger on their own. It would have been so satisfying to see Sakura roll up her sleeves, say "f you all" to her team mates and teacher, and grow strong on her own and become a respectable, independent ninja in her own way using her IQ, observation skills, quick thinking/reaction, battle analytics skills, genjutsu talent, water and earth based jutsus and chakra control. An arc such as that could also have served to show how characters in this world who doesn't come from any spesific clan, and also doesn't have anything unique about them that makes them stand out as an individual, have to struggle more and isn't as recogniced, but instead ignored/put to the side as they don't have anything flashy about them that promises them a great future.
I read some recommendations on different videos about a video praising Sakura by Seth. I watched it. I got impressed because he began with a strong argument but then just repeated her accomplishments that are already listed here. What impressed me is that she's a regular shinobi with no talent and briefly explained about other characters like Lee which just made things worse because other talentless shinobi like Lee managed to do impressive things while she never did anything. What I found funny is that her fanbase praised her because she contributed by healing others which is ok but keep in mind there are countless medical shinobi which can also heal. Shinobi like Lee, Might Guy and even Kakashi before getting his sharingan did so much w/o special talents. Sakura, as a main character, is expected to do great things like Swagkage mentioned here.

There is many reasons .. His love for sasuke is not necessarily justified, sometimes there is no need but with all that he has done to her she should not love him anymore. She's not that useless, it's just that Kishimoto created her into a main character and as a main character, she did not do much. Oh and i always forgot the main reason, people are sheep and trolls.
Kishimoto originally intended Sasuke and Sakura to be the ONLY and MAIN couple in the series. That's why all the "obsession" (Love) that Sakura has for Sasuke. If you look at it from that point, everything that happened in the series actually makes sense. Now, Swagkage analyzed her from a very OBJECTIVE point of view, which is something that you shouldn't do if you wanna try to UNDERSTAND something or someone. And that's what people (most) are not even trying to do nowdays. Trying to UNDERSTAND something or someone will make you see that person or thing that you hate; is really not that bad, in fact, you'll realize that they actually have very good things. Like we all do, we all have our good things and our bad things. Sakura doesn't deserve the hate, you can dislike her, but the important thing is that she is someone nice, caring, devoted and overall she just wants the world to be a better place. Hating on someone who is good like that...it's not good, it's worrying indeed
Naruto's heart and physical damage and torture by her and Sasuke the subject of her obsession (it's not love, it's straight obsession, and that's the first point, the second point on why there isn't trace of love in this situation is how Sakura did all of this WITH A FOUNDATION OF A KID CRUSH, BASED ON THE APPEARANCES TOO, ridicolous) would care to disagree, just to answer to the sides of her ''nice, caring, devoted etc etc'' that you mentioned (or I of course would've brought all the points on her fucked up work attitude, mind, spirit, skills etc etc like Swag did). Had she been a bad and hateful person in general it would've been completely fucked up, it wouldn't be possible to have such a character, especially if we consider the story on where she is (Naruto, a main shonen of Shonen Jump), so you shouldn't bring this overall decency on strangers as a feat that deletes all the bad things and pain that she commited.

I feel like a good comparison would be the portrayal of Nami from One Piece. Her purpose on the crew is strictly as a navigator andshe is never shown to be a much of a combatant. Still, she moves the plot, frequently comes up with strategies, and makes certain actions that change the course of the battle.

She saved the hero aka Naruto , sasuke, hinata, karin , chiyo, karin , shikamaru and countless souls , helped to seal kaguya and beat an akatsuke member " unsurpassed her master and became the leader of the medical unit . Defeated kido a pseudo jinchurki and opened mental clinic... jumped in and risked her life for Naruto who would have ended up beheaded by zabuza's sword . -Had she not protect naruto and sasuke in the forest of death, they would have died by those 3 sound ninjas. Lee went in and got fcked and then team 10 went in after seeing sakura getting beat up knowing she wouldn’t win but she didn’t give up.. - she took care of Naruto and sasuke for 3 days without sleeping. ..

I would say that Shikamaru is a pretty mature and rational character and I love him. Sure he is lazy and says "its a drag" but he does shit, he leads others and he even cheer up Naruto when he is in the dumps.
To be fair, Sakura herself isn't bad. Handled by an author who didn't know how to write a female lead in an effective way pretty much describes her situation. And it doesn't help that fans just love to take the worst things of her portrayal, even some of those only a problem a couple of times at most, and hyper-exaggerate them by factors of a hundred until it's a PARODY of itself rather than what's actually shown. Naruto had five times the Sasuke hang-up that Sakura did, for example. She's honestly my favorite of the whole series, female character-wise. If only the author had better experience with writing the role of main heroine, things would have turned out better instead of the last-minute saving throw from the Fourth Shinobi War Arc and beyond.
At 1st I was indifferent toward Sakura then by the end of the original series I was genuinely annoyed, then thoroughly hated her by Shippuden. Glad she made way for Hinata to slip in tho. NaruHina Gang Gang.
I just had a random idea that would have been cool for Sakura. If Sakura had also done some training under Gai or with Lee and learnt the gates, she could heal herself with the seal thing simultaneously while using having the gates open. Some people might not like this because it's taking a jutsu from another character, but if she was meant to be a main character then it's sometimes the role of side-characters to be there for the main characters to learn from. Imagine how much more of a role Kishimoto could have given her with this, e.g. she could have done the same thing Gai did against Madara (don't get me wrong I don't wanna take that moment away from him, but like I said if she was MEANT to be a main character, then it would have made sense to give her a big moment like that if she had the right development beforehand). Buuuuut yeah, as it turned out, Sakura was just awfully written. Plain terrible. Excellent video though, can't believe I'd never seen it before lol.
Also in an ideal world this would have lead to her getting over her shallow obsession with Sasuke, and then seeing how good a guy Lee actually is and ending up with him instead lol.
it might seem shitty or even offensive but Sakura is actually a great character, a very good female character, Kishimoto said he isnt good at writing women characters but I dont think there are any actual issues with the female characters in Naruto, Sakura is actually a very well written character, its pretty natural to not like her and thats because she is written like that, if she was written poorly you would most likely not give a shit about her at all, she is portrayed as a very real girl, she is weak, in a sense, she has great physical strength and she can show mental strength as well, determination, intellect, but in a way, she is actually really dumb and weak, just like Sasuke is, I really hated Sasuke for most of the show, now I am kinda neutral but I just hated his stupidity, yes he is talented and pretty smart and bright but again, in a way, he is also very stupid, he doesnt understand a lot of things at all, he completely misunderstood Itachi after he learned the truth, even when he learned everything from him and then from the kages he still came up with a stupid way of seeing all those things, well at least for most people just completely nonsensical, Im sure there will be some who might see it the same way he did but I think most of the people would say its evident he got it wrong completely, at the end when he was fighting Naruto he was talkign about how Itachi lived and what his answer is and what he learned but its very obvious he completely misunderstood Itachi and was going on the wrong path, so in a way Naruto is the smartest out of the three, or at least the most normal in a way, both Sakura and Sasuke can be even more dumb and irritating than him, so again I think Sakura is a really good character because she is very real, she doesnt seem like forcefully written to become likable cause she is one of the main characters, or that she has to change cause thats what should happen in the show, I actually disliked both Sakura and Sasuke because who they were and how they behaved but thats because they are very well written and feel very real and not just stupid scripted bots, so there isnt really anything bad about hating Sakura or any other character in Naruto since they are all written very well and are all unique its only natural that you will dislike some of them :)
I think Kishi was a little harsh on himself I think he did a decent job on his female characters you can say his male characters were far from perfect as well personally Kish's characters male/female are..no better or worse than say Oda has with his characters. True...he could have given us more character development with Tenten or Rock Lee we know nothing about thier clans thier parents/family. He could have given us more on Orochmaru's own background about his parents where was his family from etc. I always thought Orochimaru could be possibly not be human at all even when he was a child..it could be that he disguised himself as one so he could learn ninjutsu. The one clue to his true is that he wanted to achieve immortality in order to learn and master every jutsu in existence. But no mangeka is perfect.
oldgordo61 well you cant blame him for not going further and deeper with more characters he already gave us a lot on a huge cast of characters and ye he could have gone on pretty much forever and keep giving more details on every single character but thats not necessary, I wouldnt mind it but I guess he and the company wanted the series to actually end at some point and not just go on forever, and ye his characters arent perfect, they are actually very human, if they were perfect then it would seem very scripted and distinct but this way everyone had their personality, their own story and background and their own motives and you could see where everyone is coming from which is a remarkable achievement you dont see something like that done anywhere else with so many different characters, he could have done even more but again they didnt want to prolong the show too much, characters in Naruto are impecable and are defo the strongest part of Naruto which is the most important thing for a show like this, others either dont really do anything with their characters and they are just there or they just do too much and do a lot of unnecessary stuff with not very important characters and you even forget wtf is actually going on and what the show is really supposed to be
Naa sakura isnt like any real girl to me please when they asked about her dreams in life she wanted to end up with sasuke thats when i lost it for her like why couldn't she have her own ambitions apart from being someone's wife. I blame kishi for this he made most of his female characters centre around wanting to have a man in their life except few of them. To me he made them look vain and not ambitious enough unlike their male counterpart
I don't hate Sakura. I just think her character serves no real role in the story. I mean how was her character really neccesary to the plot? She is honestly less important to the plot then someone like Hinata, Kiba, or even Shino.

I suppose having a bigger chest makes her more likable character for some of the fans ..but having a big chest never for me defined the character of any woman. At least Sakura was trying to create a diversion so Naruto and Sasuke could attack. Hinata gets praised for her bravery and her declaration of her love for Naruto Sakura on the other hand gets crapped on must be the boobs... No matter what Sakura does or doesn't do the character can't win. No one is claiming she's a perfectly written character but I think she was written to be a flawed but very human character. And I think she made pretty good progression as a character going from an obsessed 12 year old fangirl to a very highly skilled and mature medical ninja.And in the end Sakura turned out quite attactive looking.
first of all what hinata did wasn't go 1 to 1 with pain she went after the chakra rods in naruto so no she wasn't retarded. Second of all sakura going at madara was never supposed to be a diversion it was an improvisation that she had on spur of the moment, sasuke and naruto were making plans and sakura runs off ahead to battle 1 to 1 with madara so obviously sasuke and naruto didn't know she wanted to be an improvisation it wasn't the plan they were making. She has so much potential in the original series as a genjutsu specialist since it was foreshadowed since she had chakra control. Then she literally turns into a tsunade clone who is literally a she hulk. Plus don't get me started on the sasori fight which he should've killed her on multiple occasions but due to plot armour she somehow survived. Please the whole thing about her saying she loved naruto and chased Sasuke despite him trying to kill her numerous times in the series which makes he look like she literally has no common sense whatsoever
The main issue with Sakura is she's not a combat type shinobi, never was and infact that's the exact reason she was paired up with two combat types. Her main way of contributing in combat is be well standing around and doing nothing. She has analytical and observational skills that Saskue said are better, or at least, rival his sharingans. So yeah during the land of waves arc Kakashi basically told her to stand there and do nothing so she could keep watch on what was going on without getting distracted while fighting. She's also a master of MANY actual ninja skills, like poisions, medicine, having a technique where she punches you, heals you, then repeats until your cells die from over regeneration, aced the written test on the chunin exams, which was designed to be impossible for a genin to do, saved Kankuro which no one but Tsunade would have even had a chance of doing, making antidotes for Sasori's poisons, which he designed to be impossible to cure by anyone except himself, and did a chunin combat exam with so little chakra because she was starting on her hundred healings that she almost passed out from lack of chakra. Just a lot of her issue is her skillsets more of a non-combat set, then she gets compared to TAILED BEAST BOMB RASENSHURIKEN and INFERNO STYLE SUSANO FLAME CONTROL.

I like Sakura too, and I think too that she was annoying and useless at the first. She only likes Sasuke cause he was cool but that's not in the entire serie! At some point she get to know him better, they became comrades and closest friends in team 7. He saves she in many ocattions of course her love for him grows in time. Naruto also has a great affecttion for Sasuke and all the serie he tries to save his friend but no one say naruto is obsessed with sasuke like sakura and that's unffair. Sasuke also tried many times of kill naruto and no one complain about naruto being stupid for not give up on Sasuke. Sakura neither gave up on Sasuke in the entire series cause she knew the good side of sasuke and loves him. So did naruto.

My main problem with Sakura and why I disagree with what Swagkage said about Hinata beeing less useful is that Hinata never said stuff like: Now you are gonna watch my back (which I tough to mean: I am really strong and on par with you (Naruto and Sasuke)). Sakura would have failed instantly against Sasori if she was alone. Yes she had the antidote, but she would have been poisoned at once against the needles and then revealed to Sasori that she had the antidote, so he would have ajusted his strategies accordingly. So she would still fail against him. Hinata was allways massively in love with Naruto, but she still slapped him when he was loosing it too dispair in the war, something Sakura never did against Sasuke. So ye, Hinata for me is WAY better than Sakura.
You're not alone guys. She's my favorite female character. By no means perfect in any way shape or form, but my favorite nonetheless. The video isn't wrong because most of what is said here is my biggest issue with her character, but I love her nonetheless.
This is why i say tenten was one of the most useful characters in naruto, she saw that she personally wasnt cut off for battle so what did she do? Did she continue bekng a burdened trying to catch and fight and defend her future divorcer? No she set up shop and sold weapons to be use by thise who were fighting. The leaf weapons were supplied by her and her family.
Sakura is nothing but Tsunade 2.0 skill wise unfortunately. Literally every single contribution made by her can be replaced with Tsunade. Thats the biggest problem. She has nothing unique of her own. Yes she grows "stronger than Tsunade" but even that isn't earned because it literally only happens because the whole "Team 7 succeeds Sanin" theme aka plot. I wish Kishimoto had made her a medic + genjutsu user. Part 1 hinted that she has a knack for Genjutsu but unfortunately it was never explored....... such wasted potential :(
the unique thing she had going for herself was no family history of greatness. she is the ideal "bring yourself up from nothing" story. she had no family jutsu's, no kekei genkai(?), nothing. and in essence, Tsunade had no kids, and being Tsunades student, why shouldnt she be a copy of her? thats basically what every clan in the world is, copies of each other with passed down skills/jutsu's. I'm not defending her, i do find her excessive whining and brooding over sasuke to be more than necessary, but you cant really rag on her for finding an appropriate sensei in Tsunade and emulating her.
Minato was not from any clan. He was never said to have any superior genetic traits. Yet he turned into an immensely strong shinobi DIFFERENT from his sensei Jiraiya. Jiraiya was also a nobody. No genetic superiority or clan techniques yet he still became a force to be reckoned with, DIFFERENT from his sensei. Orochimaru was a nobody as well. But still ended up a legend, DIFFERENT from his sensei. Even Tsunade who is NInja God aka Hax Cells Aka Hashirama's granddaughter, she couldn't be more different from him. And these are just examples I came up with on the spot, I am pretty sure there are more. Just because Sakura doesn't have ninja background or any bloodlines or any other advantage, doesn't excuse her being a 100% carbon copy of her teacher with no uniqueness whatsoever. Having Tsunade as a base is fine as she is her student, but she NEVER went past that. She never developed anything to call her own. So no I do NOT buy that argument....
Sarutobi->jaraiya->minato->naruto->konohamaru, all fell in line with the peaceful approach in their philosophies, which im going to assume sarutobi learned from hashirama himself, so yeah, they all did end up like their teacher. Jiaraiya was also the first toad sage, also passed down to minato and naruto, and from naruto to konohamaru, so yeah, their were things passed down from teacher to student in your argument. chakra control and book smarts is what sakura had going for her. if she didnt have the base level of chakra control, she wouldnt have been able to become tsunades student. both jaraiya and orochimarus had no memories or knowledge of their family/clans, but were extremely talented. all of the character you listed had immense tragedy surrounding theirs lives one way or another and had to push themselves to new heights. sakura was never in that kind of position, she had her family, and the only tragedy was sasuke leaving. she grew up soft and spoiled, yes, but she found someone to emulate and nailed it. the whole point, like you said was the rebirth of the new Sannin, so what can you expect, she was supposed to be just like tsunade, and she was. the whole basis of the naruto story revolves around reincarnation, so i think it is perfectly acceptable thet she literally be the emulated reincarnation of tsunades role in the story, and there was no need to develop her further. also, if she became a more genjutsu based user, it wouldve taken away from sasukes/uchiha potential skill pool, and lets face it, shes not really a main charachter, so again, appropriate that she didnt. sakura rose from absolutely nothing to become a sannin and your complaint is she didnt have any unique developed skills or jutsus...
What Sakura was able to achieve imo was more impressive than either Naruto or Sasuke who had the genetic advantages of thier clans Uchihas and Uzimaki clans we know nothing about Minat's clan but they probably specialize in some space/time ninjutsus plus they were both also the incanations of Indra ans Ashura. Sakura had none of these things.
I don't think that Sakura is the most hated character but rather the most disappointing one (but disappointment leads to hate, and hate leads to a pissed of fan base so I guess its still hate :P). The moment that shows this off the most in the series is when she fucking fails to destroy an eyeball despite having entire minutes to do this. Why did she fail at that? Who the fuck knows?! This really sums her up perfectly.
It may have seemed like minutes, but remember that like the Dragon Ball series, everything is slowed to us. That little bit that took minute in the anime? Took at least less than a minute if it was real life. And I'd like to ask you something, if some person on their knees was asking you stab them in the eye, would you hesitate? Any normal rational human sure as hell would. I can garen-damn-tee Naruto would have outright refused if he was in Sakura's place.

Sakura was basically doomed to this plot area specifically because of two things, her lack of true character development and her lack of ninja development. She might sound more mature or say bigger words but rest assured, Sakura is the exact same character from the beginning all the way to the end of the full series. She’s self-centered and too focused on her petty crush on Sasuke to do anything, even ignoring the lovable idiot of Naruto doing everything to protect her, show he cares and so on. On top of that, her actual ninja ability was practically zero in the first part of Naruto, she did showcase her better chakra control and medical jutsu in the beginning of Shippuden but it was only to show that 3 years did indeed do something for her, even if it basically just turned her into a young Tsunade. Each of the main characters takes on a familiar role similar to the Sannin they respectively train under, but there are distinct differences in both the jutsu variety, combat style and personality - between Jiraiya and Naruto, and Orochimaru and Sasuke. However, Sakura wants to get better, but the best she can do is basically just turn herself into Taunade. The only difference being that I actually like Tsunade, because Sakura still won’t take on the position of a leader or someone who has trained under a Sannin and knows what they were doing

The Fight with Ino is even more hilarious, because Ino would've won, if not for that complete asspull, that Sakura's fierce inner voice, which had been used for comedy, is actually a split personality that helps Sakura overcome the mind control jutsu. The Rinnegan eye? I think Madara still would have been able to take it. It would have been better if it was destroyed, that way Madara would have had to go for Sasuke's Rinnegan instead, which would have been more difficult to get. If Sasuke got Madara's Rinnegan, he would probably been nerfed since his MS is quite good. Naruto would be confused as to how to use it and the fact that he does not have an Uchiha body would mean that the Rinnegan would drain even more chakra than usual. Kakashi having it would lead to the same problem.
johnyk891 That may be true, but naruto was stated to have the SO6P's body (also Nagato handled the rinnegan quite well) so he wouldnt suffer any side effects of the eye. Naruto having a rinnegan probably wouldnt have been useful in the battle agaist madara, but he probably would've gotten quite adept to it by the time Kaguya was revived. Sasuke got a lot better with it between the time he got it and the end of the war.
Now, as if Kakashi of the sharingan wasnt op enough, imagine Kakashi of the rinnegan.

Well, the one who actually had the SO6P's body was Madara, and that was towards the end. Naruto was not even close. Nagato was actually quite bad with the Rinnegan in my opinion. Very early he became disabled. All it took was him summoning the 10 tails husk once and his body was destroyed. The six paths of pain got Nagato tired quite quickly. In comparison, look at Obito with his version of the 6 paths of pain. He controlled far more powerful individuals. And when they were defeated, he transferred their chakra to the husk pretty much instantly. And when he used the 10 tails husk on the battlefield where Darui was fighting, he had absolute control over it. He did not need those rods like Nagato. And it was a husk filled with 6 tailed beasts. The one Nagato used was empty.
I do not think Naruto would become adept with the Rinnegan that quickly. He has never had an actual dojutsu. Sasuke, on the other hand, had a lot of experience with the most similar dojutsu to the Rinnegan - the Sharingan. Plus, he is a genius, unlike Naruto, so him getting the hang of it fairly quickly is not surprising.
Kakashi of the Rinnegan sounds quite awesome but I suspect that he might accidentally kill himself by using Rinnegan abilities that use too much chakra :D. That is why I think he is actually stronger without the Sharingan. He has a lot more chakra to use.
I think she would've been vastly better if she acknowledged that she wasn't a frontline fighter after the original series, and focused fully on support. When she's supporting others, she can help them prevail when they'd otherwise die (such as giving Naruto's heart a handy).
When she's fighting, she's almost universally aside from her battle against Sasori...where she literally needed a different character to control her movements for her.
Also sakura was always surrounded by the most powerfull people..i mean she had two hokages as teacher..her teammates got beyond op with time,yamato was a skilled anbu and jonin and had hashirama's wood style although on a much lower scale..even sai was a really skilled anbu
Sakura was on the road to redemption in Shippuden. Then the Sasuke arc happened. I seriously fail to understand why Kishimoto focused so heavy on this Sasuke obsession. He came to realize that that wasn't what people wanted from her character, yet he doubled down on that very trait of hers during the 5 kage summit and the war arcs. What kind of logic is that? What was the point? The biggest problem Kishimoto has with developing female characters is that he focuses too much on the FEMALE aspect and not on the CHARACTER aspect. Just focus on making a good character that happens to be female. Konan was a good character that happened to be female. Nearly all females in attack on Titan. Damn good characters. Revy from Black Lagoon is a good character that happens to be female. Damn near every girl in Toradora is a damn good character, like I said, all of which happen to be females in relatable circumstances. Sakura could've been great if he'd only stop having her regress to her former actions after her self reflection, and she's had alot of them. It makes no sense. Her character is literally progression followed by regression in a constant cycle with an obvious out thats been neglected at every chance.

To be real though she was poorly written and was actually planned to have more potential, by the end the best they could do was mirror her into a young Tsunade to recover some of her credit, the writers didn't handle fan feedback of her well, they seen people disliked her and then kind of just cut her character to nothing for most of the show, only later doing something with her for story sake so she could end up with Sasuke.
This is sadly what happens when feedback on a time sensitive show goes wrong and the writers fail to adapt.
Also its better to look at her as a side character rather then a main and others as support characters. Naruto and Sasuke are the only Main, while people like Kakashi, Sakura, Itachi are Support and then most others are Side or Filler.

Uhhh no she wasn't. Kishimito even said he had simply written Sakura in for the sake of a love triangle since he was aware some of his fans would like that. The only reason he kept her along as a main character was because at the time there was a number of people who liked her. Sure he probably tried to make her more relevant later on but the the truth is she was nothing more than a character whose purpose was to be a love sick puppy for Sasuke. Kishimoto admits he's not much for love writing so he kept that aspect light. Love her or hate her,truth of the matter is in comparison to the main cast she's pretty useless since she was never intended to be more than that.

It's still Kishimoto's fault for even writing a love interest in the first place, then refusing to go anywhere beyond that simply because he doesn't know anything else about women than "they like boys sometimes, I guess because they think boys are cute?". If he knows so little about female characters, he should have just avoided having them in the show altogether, maybe Sakura could have been a member of another team and team 7 could have just been a 2 ninja team. Or even better, maybe have a throwaway 3rd ninja be part of team 7 then have him die early on, using that to reinforce Sasuke's *really* weak character point of "moving without knowing to save someone else".
Imagine if instead of Sakura on Team 7 Kishimoto had realized he couldn't write a female character to save his own life and a 3rd ninja died to save Sasuke in the first 1 or 2 missions, thus starting to create the heavy dichotomy in Sasuke's mind about not knowing if he should be worrying about his friends or cutting them away because those bonds only hurt him in the end?
I have to do a *lot* of writing for my DND game, but something I never, *ever* do is include familial drama in the story; because I grew up pretty much 100% separated from my family, and I *know* I can't write *shit* about parental abandonment issues, or trauma with desperately trying to live up to one's mother's dreams, and shit like that. I know nothing about it, so I just *don't write it* so I won't make a huge fool of myself. Kishimoto self admittedly knows absolutely nothing about women, and still tried to force one into his main cast just cause he thought a manga with a love triangle would sell better than one without it, so hell yeah I'll blame him for how terrible the character ended up being.
I believe Mathwiz did a video on "In defense of Talk No Justu" talking about how Talk no Jutsu gets way too much hate as well as philosophy and hypocrisy in Naruto series. I think you'll enjoy it :)
sakura was annoying for being "obcessed" over sasuke, but naruto was too and people liked it. I think most people don't understand that both obcessions are more related to the fact that they didn't want to kill and see one of their best friends turn evil, more than just having a cruh on him or being friends. They felt like it was their resposability making sasuke see the light and that they could've done something to prevent sasuke from going rougue.
Because unlike Sakura, Naruto genuinely cares for Sasuke and can actually somewhat understand why he's doing what he's doing due to both of them having pretty sucky, lonely childhoods. They have a special bond with each other that justifies Naruto's obsession. Sakura doesn't. More importantly, Naruto didn't lie to one of his best friends and didn't drug the rest just so he could try to handle Sasuke solo (only to almost get killed, then almost get killed again because of hesistation).
It's great now that you have enjoyed the series, it is time to see through all the huge faults this series has. Swagkage is the best guy to watch for this. Hope to see more of these.
I think Sakura, while she certainly is useless at several points, is very much misunderstood... her obsessive love for sasuke seems to be to high light naruto’s failings of bringing sasuke back early on. Naruto didn’t try to understand sasuke, he didn’t try for equality he went for domination- “you’re coming back to the village even if I have to break every bone in your body!” While Sakura tried to understand him saying “I’ll give you love!” “I’ll make you happy!” “Vengeance won’t make anybody happy!” Granted it didn’t work but sasuke did respond to her much more kindly and respectfully but knowing she’d chase him he knocked her out. Kishimoto said that sasuke regretted leaving Sakura behind and it tore him up inside so while she may have failed to convince him she did get through to him on some level. Something else people often over look is the presence of mental illnesses in Naruto... during the 5 Kage summit arc Sakura was suicidally depressed and when she went to take out sasuke she was planning on killing her self too that’s way she wanted to go alone(Sakura even alludes to this in the manga and English version of the final few episodes when she cry’s out for sasuke to stay with her just before the final battle) and as for not using the strength of a hundred seal during the pain assault... she couldn’t... the diamond didn’t appear which indicates that the seal has built up enough chakra, she was also severely nerfed during most of the shippunden because almost ALL of her chakra was going into the seal so she tried avoiding fighting and was even winding by thing like long walks which was why tsunade was worried about Sakura working at the hospital at the time because she did have the chakra to spare on more advanced medical ninjutsu ...and that my thoughts on Sakura based on what swagkage said... no hate or disrespect just my thoughts. (Sorry for any grammatical errors but I’m too lazy to go back and seek them out to fix lol)

Honestly, a lot of what Swagkage was saying is wrong though. Sakura was the head medical ninja other than Tsunade, during Pain's attack. She saved many ninja's lives. A medical ninja is supposed to stay in the sidelines until there is no other choice but to fight. That's even what Tsunade told her. As well, Sakura actually does defeat one of Pain's centipede summons, with one punch. I would even argue that ever since the Sasori fight, Sakura was proven to be jounin level strength. It's true that she wasn't in many fights after that, but that makes sense, because her primary concern is medical ninjutsu. The problem is that the Naruto fanbase doesn't really use medical ninjutsu as "feats" the same way they use battles. Can you imagine how many lives Sakura has saved since the start of Shippuden? I dunno, it just seems like we're using the wrong measurements for her.

I really feel that Sakura would have benefitted as a character if Kishimoto ever showed her falling out of love with Sasuke, considering all the times he looked down on her. I really don't know how he justified in his head to have Sakura keep loving Sasuke, even after Sasuke tried to axe her off multiple times with 0 regret/care. Just imagine a version of Naruto where Sakura realices how toxic Sasuke is, and how down right dangerous he has become after the timeskip, and then focus on having her improve herself/her other skills, instead of just having her be the cliche "person in love" trope whom, because of said cliche/trope, ignores all the massive, red flags thrown her way! Sakura could have been such a good opponent to Sasuke, using her own battle analytics skills against Sasuke's, using her earth and water elemental jutsus to counter his Chidori and fire based jutsus, along with her genjutsu skills to counter his Sharingan, and keeping herself and Naruto healed as Sasuke tracks their punches/kicks. Kishimoto gave her all these advantages, and then throws it all to the side so that he can have her go "Oooo Sasuke, have my babies" whenever she's around Sasuke instead!
I wish there had been a Sakura focused arc between the 1st periode and shippuden where she 1) stops having feelings for Sasuke and becomes her own person whoms whole identity/existence doesn't revolve around him, and 2) realices she's going to have to rely/focus on herself as her teacher is busy only focusing on her team mates, and said team mates are always off getting stronger on their own. It would have been so satisfying to see Sakura roll up her sleeves, say "f you all" to her team mates and teacher, and grow strong on her own and become a respectable, independent ninja in her own way using her IQ, observation skills, quick thinking/reaction, battle analytics skills, genjutsu talent, water and earth based jutsus and chakra control. An arc such as that could also have served to show how characters in this world who doesn't come from any spesific clan, and also doesn't have anything unique about them that makes them stand out as an individual, have to struggle more and isn't as recogniced, but instead ignored/put to the side as they don't have anything flashy about them that promises them a great future.

I got impressed because he began with a strong argument but then just repeated her accomplishments that are already listed here. What impressed me is that she's a regular shinobi with no talent and briefly explained about other characters like Lee which just made things worse because other talentless shinobi like Lee managed to do impressive things while she never did anything. What I found funny is that her fanbase praised her because she contributed by healing others which is ok but keep in mind there are countless medical shinobi which can also heal. Shinobi like Lee, Might Guy and even Kakashi before getting his sharingan did so much w/o special talents. Sakura, as a main character, is expected to do great things like Swagkage mentioned here.

Kishimoto originally intended Sasuke and Sakura to be the ONLY and MAIN couple in the series. That's why all the "obsession" (Love) that Sakura has for Sasuke. If you look at it from that point, everything that happened in the series actually makes sense.
Now, Swagkage analyzed her from a very OBJECTIVE point of view, which is something that you shouldn't do if you wanna try to UNDERSTAND something or someone.
And that's what people (most) are not even trying to do nowdays. Trying to UNDERSTAND something or someone will make you see that person or thing that you hate; is really not that bad, in fact, you'll realize that they actually have very good things. Like we all do, we all have our good things and our bad things.
Sakura doesn't deserve the hate, you can dislike her, but the important thing is that she is someone nice, caring, devoted and overall she just wants the world to be a better place. Hating on someone who is good like that...it's not good, it's worrying indeed

I would say that Shikamaru is a pretty mature and rational character and I love him. Sure he is lazy and says "its a drag" but he does shit, he leads others and he even cheer up Naruto when he is in the dumps.
To be fair, Sakura herself isn't bad. Handled by an author who didn't know how to write a female lead in an effective way pretty much describes her situation. And it doesn't help that fans just love to take the worst things of her portrayal, even some of those only a problem a couple of times at most, and hyper-exaggerate them by factors of a hundred until it's a PARODY of itself rather than what's actually shown. Naruto had five times the Sasuke hang-up that Sakura did, for example.
She's honestly my favorite of the whole series, female character-wise. If only the author had better experience with writing the role of main heroine, things would have turned out better instead of the last-minute saving throw from the Fourth Shinobi War Arc and beyond.

I just had a random idea that would have been cool for Sakura. If Sakura had also done some training under Gai or with Lee and learnt the gates, she could heal herself with the seal thing simultaneously while using having the gates open.
Some people might not like this because it's taking a jutsu from another character, but if she was meant to be a main character then it's sometimes the role of side-characters to be there for the main characters to learn from. Imagine how much more of a role Kishimoto could have given her with this, e.g. she could have done the same thing Gai did against Madara (don't get me wrong I don't wanna take that moment away from him, but like I said if she was MEANT to be a main character, then it would have made sense to give her a big moment like that if she had the right development beforehand).
Buuuuut yeah, as it turned out, Sakura was just awfully written. Plain terrible. Excellent video though, can't believe I'd never seen it before lol.

it might seem shitty or even offensive but Sakura is actually a great character, a very good female character, Kishimoto said he isnt good at writing women characters but I dont think there are any actual issues with the female characters in Naruto, Sakura is actually a very well written character, its pretty natural to not like her and thats because she is written like that, if she was written poorly you would most likely not give a shit about her at all, she is portrayed as a very real girl, she is weak, in a sense, she has great physical strength and she can show mental strength as well, determination, intellect, but in a way, she is actually really dumb and weak, just like Sasuke is, I really hated Sasuke for most of the show, now I am kinda neutral but I just hated his stupidity, yes he is talented and pretty smart and bright but again, in a way, he is also very stupid, he doesnt understand a lot of things at all, he completely misunderstood Itachi after he learned the truth, even when he learned everything from him and then from the kages he still came up with a stupid way of seeing all those things, well at least for most people just completely nonsensical, Im sure there will be some who might see it the same way he did but I think most of the people would say its evident he got it wrong completely, at the end when he was fighting Naruto he was talkign about how Itachi lived and what his answer is and what he learned but its very obvious he completely misunderstood Itachi and was going on the wrong path, so in a way Naruto is the smartest out of the three, or at least the most normal in a way, both Sakura and Sasuke can be even more dumb and irritating than him, so again I think Sakura is a really good character because she is very real, she doesnt seem like forcefully written to become likable cause she is one of the main characters, or that she has to change cause thats what should happen in the show, I actually disliked both Sakura and Sasuke because who they were and how they behaved but thats because they are very well written and feel very real and not just stupid scripted bots, so there isnt really anything bad about hating Sakura or any other character in Naruto since they are all written very well and are all unique its only natural that you will dislike some of them :)
I think Kishi was a little harsh on himself I think he did a decent job on his female characters you can say his male characters were far from perfect as well personally Kish's characters male/female are..no better or worse than say Oda has with his characters. True...he could have given us more character development with Tenten or Rock Lee we know nothing about thier clans thier parents/family. He could have given us more on Orochmaru's own background about his parents where was his family from etc. I always thought Orochimaru could be possibly not be human at all even when he was a child..it could be that he disguised himself as one so he could learn ninjutsu. The one clue to his true is that he wanted to achieve immortality in order to learn and master every jutsu in existence.

oldgordo61 well you cant blame him for not going further and deeper with more characters he already gave us a lot on a huge cast of characters and ye he could have gone on pretty much forever and keep giving more details on every single character but thats not necessary, I wouldnt mind it but I guess he and the company wanted the series to actually end at some point and not just go on forever, and ye his characters arent perfect, they are actually very human, if they were perfect then it would seem very scripted and distinct but this way everyone had their personality, their own story and background and their own motives and you could see where everyone is coming from which is a remarkable achievement you dont see something like that done anywhere else with so many different characters, he could have done even more but again they didnt want to prolong the show too much, characters in Naruto are impecable and are defo the strongest part of Naruto which is the most important thing for a show like this, others either dont really do anything with their characters and they are just there or they just do too much and do a lot of unnecessary stuff with not very important characters and you even forget wtf is actually going on and what the show is really supposed to be
Naa sakura isnt like any real girl to me please when they asked about her dreams in life she wanted to end up with sasuke thats when i lost it for her like why couldn't she have her own ambitions apart from being someone's wife. I blame kishi for this he made most of his female characters centre around wanting to have a man in their life except few of them. She had enough courage to face a full powered Madara I guess that makes her stupid for doing so..but not nearly as stupid as what Hinata tried to do against Pein. No complains about what Hiniata did. I suppose having a bigger chest makes her more likable character for some of the fans ..but having a big chest never for me defined the character of any woman. At least Sakura was trying to create a diversion so Naruto and Sasuke could attack. Hinata gets praised for her bravery and her declaration of her love for Naruto Sakura on the other hand gets crapped on must be the boobs... No matter what Sakura does or doesn't do the character can't win. No one is claiming she's a perfectly written character but I think she was written to be a flawed but very human character. And I think she made pretty good progression as a character going from an obsessed 12 year old fangirl to a very highly skilled and mature medical ninja.And in the end Sakura turned out quite attactive looking.
first of all what hinata did wasn't go 1 to 1 with pain she went after the chakra rods in naruto so no she wasn't retarded. Second of all sakura going at madara was never supposed to be a diversion it was an improvisation that she had on spur of the moment, sasuke and naruto were making plans and sakura runs off ahead to battle 1 to 1 with madara so obviously sasuke and naruto didn't know she wanted to be an improvisation it wasn't the plan they were making. She has so much potential in the original series as a genjutsu specialist since it was foreshadowed since she had chakra control. Then she literally turns into a tsunade clone who is literally a she hulk. Plus don't get me started on the sasori fight which he should've killed her on multiple occasions but due to plot armour she somehow survived. Please the whole thing about her saying she loved naruto and chased Sasuke despite him trying to kill her numerous times in the series which makes he look like she literally has no common sense whatsoever

The main issue with Sakura is she's not a combat type shinobi, never was and infact that's the exact reason she was paired up with two combat types. Her main way of contributing in combat is be well standing around and doing nothing. She has analytical and observational skills that Saskue said are better, or at least, rival his sharingans. So yeah during the land of waves arc Kakashi basically told her to stand there and do nothing so she could keep watch on what was going on without getting distracted while fighting. She's also a master of MANY actual ninja skills, like poisions, medicine, having a technique where she punches you, heals you, then repeats until your cells die from over regeneration, aced the written test on the chunin exams, which was designed to be impossible for a genin to do, saved Kankuro which no one but Tsunade would have even had a chance of doing, making antidotes for Sasori's poisons, which he designed to be impossible to cure by anyone except himself, and did a chunin combat exam with so little chakra because she was starting on her hundred healings that she almost passed out from lack of chakra. Just a lot of her issue is her skillsets more of a non-combat set, then she gets compared to TAILED BEAST BOMB RASENSHURIKEN and INFERNO STYLE SUSANO FLAME CONTROL.

Sasuke also tried many times of kill naruto and no one complain about naruto being stupid for not give up on Sasuke. My main problem with Sakura and why I disagree with what Swagkage said about Hinata beeing less useful is that Hinata never said stuff like: Now you are gonna watch my back (which I tough to mean: I am really strong and on par with you (Naruto and Sasuke)). Sakura would have failed instantly against Sasori if she was alone. Yes she had the antidote, but she would have been poisoned at once against the needles and then revealed to Sasori that she had the antidote, so he would have ajusted his strategies accordingly. So she would still fail against him. Hinata was allways massively in love with Naruto, but she still slapped him when he was loosing it too dispair in the war, something Sakura never did against Sasuke. So ye, Hinata for me is WAY better than Sakura.

This is why i say tenten was one of the most useful characters in naruto, she saw that she personally wasnt cut off for battle so what did she do? Did she continue bekng a burdened trying to catch and fight and defend her future divorcer? No she set up shop and sold weapons to be use by thise who were fighting. The leaf weapons were supplied by her and her family.
Sakura is nothing but Tsunade 2.0 skill wise unfortunately. Literally every single contribution made by her can be replaced with Tsunade. Thats the biggest problem. She has nothing unique of her own. Yes she grows "stronger than Tsunade" but even that isn't earned because it literally only happens because the whole "Team 7 succeeds Sanin" theme aka plot. I wish Kishimoto had made her a medic + genjutsu user. Part 1 hinted that she has a knack for Genjutsu but unfortunately it was never explored....... such wasted potential :(
the unique thing she had going for herself was no family history of greatness. she is the ideal "bring yourself up from nothing" story. she had no family jutsu's, no kekei genkai(?), nothing. and in essence, Tsunade had no kids, and being Tsunades student, why shouldnt she be a copy of her? thats basically what every clan in the world is, copies of each other with passed down skills/jutsu's. I'm not defending her, i do find her excessive whining and brooding over sasuke to be more than necessary, but you cant really rag on her for finding an appropriate sensei in Tsunade and emulating her.
Minato was not from any clan. He was never said to have any superior genetic traits. Yet he turned into an immensely strong shinobi DIFFERENT from his sensei Jiraiya. Jiraiya was also a nobody. No genetic superiority or clan techniques yet he still became a force to be reckoned with, DIFFERENT from his sensei. Orochimaru was a nobody as well. But still ended up a legend, DIFFERENT from his sensei. Even Tsunade who is NInja God aka Hax Cells Aka Hashirama's granddaughter, she couldn't be more different from him. And these are just examples I came up with on the spot, I am pretty sure there are more.
Just because Sakura doesn't have ninja background or any bloodlines or any other advantage, doesn't excuse her being a 100% carbon copy of her teacher with no uniqueness whatsoever. Having Tsunade as a base is fine as she is her student, but she NEVER went past that. She never developed anything to call her own. So no I do NOT buy that argument....
Sarutobi->jaraiya->minato->naruto->konohamaru, all fell in line with the peaceful approach in their philosophies, which im going to assume sarutobi learned from hashirama himself, so yeah, they all did end up like their teacher. Jiaraiya was also the first toad sage, also passed down to minato and naruto, and from naruto to konohamaru, so yeah, their were things passed down from teacher to student in your argument. chakra control and book smarts is what sakura had going for her. if she didnt have the base level of chakra control, she wouldnt have been able to become tsunades student. both jaraiya and orochimarus had no memories or knowledge of their family/clans, but were extremely talented. all of the character you listed had immense tragedy surrounding theirs lives one way or another and had to push themselves to new heights. sakura was never in that kind of position, she had her family, and the only tragedy was sasuke leaving. she grew up soft and spoiled, yes, but she found someone to emulate and nailed it. the whole point, like you said was the rebirth of the new Sannin, so what can you expect, she was supposed to be just like tsunade, and she was. the whole basis of the naruto story revolves around reincarnation, so i think it is perfectly acceptable thet she literally be the emulated reincarnation of tsunades role in the story, and there was no need to develop her further. also, if she became a more genjutsu based user, it wouldve taken away from sasukes/uchiha potential skill pool, and lets face it, shes not really a main charachter, so again, appropriate that she didnt. sakura rose from absolutely nothing to become a sannin and your complaint is she didnt have any unique developed skills or jutsus...
What Sakura was able to achieve imo was more impressive than either Naruto or Sasuke who had the genetic advantages of thier clans Uchihas and Uzimaki clans we know nothing about Minat's clan but they probably specialize in some space/time ninjutsus plus they were both also the incanations of Indra ans Ashura. Sakura had none of these things.

I don't think that Sakura is the most hated character but rather the most disappointing one (but disappointment leads to hate, and hate leads to a pissed of fan base so I guess its still hate :P). The moment that shows this off the most in the series is when she fucking fails to destroy an eyeball despite having entire minutes to do this. Why did she fail at that? Who the fuck knows?! This really sums her up perfectly.
It may have seemed like minutes, but remember that like the Dragon Ball series, everything is slowed to us. That little bit that took minute in the anime? Took at least less than a minute if it was real life.
And I'd like to ask you something, if some person on their knees was asking you stab them in the eye, would you hesitate? Any normal rational human sure as hell would. I can garen-damn-tee Naruto would have outright refused if he was in Sakura's place.

If Kishimoto sucked at writing female characters so much, why doesn't he just write them as a male (Sakura, in particular), then put in the small bits of Femininity he *DOES* know. Sure, she'll be more of a tomboy, but at least her character wouldn't suck so damn hard.

He's not entirely right, she's not perfect but good morning...nobody is, she doesn't mess around, she's just the way she is, I like her design and her personality...and as Jiraya sensei said...she is basically Tsunade 2.0 in some ways, well... without the glorious chest, but am sure she'll get there aswell one day I hope, and as much as i like Hinata or Ino or even Tenten out of all the girls I just like Sakura the most 🙂
