After 30 years I went back to Las Vegas. It was really emotional for me. I recognize some places where I used to stay when I couldn’t afford a hotel I’m driving along the Las Vegas strip and show you all the expensive hotels till almost downtown LA where the nitty-gritty bad area of Las Vegas is I show you some wedding chapels and some of the bad areas in Las Vegas
You get emotional because the time is gone and it will never come back, I feel you!
I think he got emotional because things for the average person have been getting worse for a LONG TIME. The lament is that you can no longer afford to do the things you used to be able to do. Hey, but that's Vegas. Completely materialistic.
My dad played there in the 70's. The strip was like a fantasy with all the neon. It was magic. We are losing magic in life. Not just in Vegas.
@@traceytrotter9934Great point, vote red!
It’s ok. Your human. We all want to go back to happier times.

Yea! We really need another $8 trillion dollar debt in just 4 years! Use your head!😂
"Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory."
-- Dr Seuss
That's a really good quote
I keep that phrase in memory, so much it's true.
Old vegas is gone. Not just the food and prices. But the RESPECT the hotels gave you. The class was great. Now your a number.
Yep
yes and everyone is the same class now through socialist system - vote red.
"I' am not a number, I am a free man!"
I understand. Time passes by quick. I, too, get that way.
IKR? I had a milestone b-day this year and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought, "Where the $#%@ did the time go?!!?"
@@SarahRenz5940? 50?
It's nice to reminisce about good times from the past! And I agree, spending $300-$700 a night to lay your head down on a bed is insane.
Amazing how good we all look when we were young.
Emotional times makes you human, Mike. We love your genuine spirit and humanity you bring us on your channel. Keep up the good work GIV!
Group hug for the GIV. You really connect on a different level. Its a gift you freely share and I Thank you.
amen brother !!
I lost both of my parents recently and I really miss the 90s when we were all together. Appreciate every moment your parents are alive.
lost my mom in 2022. finally starting to "get it"
That a certain kind of pain is never gonna go away, you just have to figure out a way to adjust. My brain recovered all kinds of memories, , , , mundane, silly, all kinds of stuff memories, so glad I have them.
Good advice - Appreciate every moment your parents are with you
many blessings, very sorry for your loss 🤍
I get it, too. Lots of great memories. Things have changed so much! Time is going fast. Sending you love and hugs, GIV!!!! ❤
Your emotions are valid buddy!! We're all nostalgic & sentimental to those good times before. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU 'You shouldn't look to the past'. The past CAN BE inspiring just like you said. This is a GREAT video !!!
I remember rooms used to be less than $50 and you could eat cheap at all those buffets...but those were the good old days.
With these new sport venues coming in, everything will increase....Vegas is a waste of time, money, life
You are one of luckiest men I know! You are living a great life, you are doing what you love, and you have thousands of fans that LOVE you. And we love you just the way you are! ❤. Your smile brightens our day. Your love of life, your silliness, your insights keep us coming back for more. (And the pinball hall of fame is one of my favorite places in Vegas). ❤❤.
Amazing how much Vegas has changed from back in the day! Thanks for showing us all that.
Mike....thanks for profiling my city. I'm a former Angeleno who used to spend a lot of time in Venice with my wife and friends. I think your emotions erupted when you thought of your beginnings in our great country and how many fun times you've had. My guess is you missed those nostalgic days of youth...we ALL miss those.
Hi Mike 😢 emotional memories for you. Thanks for sharing this. Take care.
I feel you too! Old Vegas is gone forever. Cheap buffets, hotels and drinks. Love how you show pics of you from the old days compared to now! Damn German, wearing a banana hammock, Nice! I couldn't do that.
Your blue eyes are even more beautiful when they’re crying! It it heart melting to see!
God bless you and your loved ones abundantly always! God bless us, every one!
Awww memories are a lifetime treasure - cherish forever. Money is nice but it cannot buy you happiness. Be thankful for what you have because others could have less than you.
Money does buy happiness. Don't believe me, throw yours away and see how happy you are
A famous actress from days of yore, Mae West, once said "I've been rich and I've been poor. Rich is better". I always suspected that.
@@theone2be33 Yea it will buy you happiness until you run out of it. See how happy you will be then. There goes all your friends and material things that made you "happy".
@@theone2be33 it doesnt buy happiness, it buys comfort, thats not happiness. Plus the more money you make, the more fake your life becomes, you cant tell who a real friend is. When you are poor, if you have friends its because they like you, when your rich more often than not they like your money.
@@debraparker833 I was young, healthy and poor and much happier than old and well off. Youth and health are the real commodities in life
I know how you are feeling. I am way older than you, but I remember going to Las Vegas with my Dad, & now he is gone, & sooner or later I will be gone too. I enjoy your videos of Las Vegas because it brings back so many fond memories. Thanks 👍
I agree $300 and up for a hotel is a waste of money.
I think 30 years ago times were much better and more innocent, everything has gotten so hard and dark nowadays.
Agree. I miss the innocent days, but that’s how capitalism evolves unfortunately until it all crashes and we start again.
I have a lot of great memories from Las Vegas too. I was going there on vacations with my parents going back to 1970. They treated my 2 sisters and I to see Elvis at the International Hotel & Casino. Great gig! My great aunt lived in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas newspaper wrote a story about her because she had adopted so many stray animals. She had a very kind heart. I'm hoping to make it back to Vegas next Spring. It has been nearly 10 years since I've been there. Always enjoy your videos GIV.
Love your photos from way back. They're GREAT!
That blonde was something else!!!!! The girl in the swimsuit was o.k. too I guess LOL
Always nice to have good memories, but then you realize how fast life goes by!
That's what happens when you live to a "certain age..." savoring and missing all the good times and friends of the past that can't be lived, and seeing the places where the good times happened either gone or changed beyond recognition. Bittersweet!
Thanks for sharing those memories with us❤ they are great!!
how times fly. Enjoy your Trip ❤
Because it’s a great memory and life goes by too fast. Enjoy the ride
Awww, it's okay to get emotional when you remember good memories, you were a young man living out his dream. Thanks for sharing, and keep making new wonderful memories ❤
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your generous donation. I really appreciate you. Have a great weekend the German in Venice.
Friend. 😢
Times are changing from the easy-going happy world as we knew it. So it can be emotional and it's ok to cry.
People are changing too.
When I get overwhelmed and sad, I go back in time through music videos.
Oh and your cheerful videos !!😊
Hey Mike!
It's okay to show your emotions!!!
At least you're real and not fake like some of these you tubers!!!
Thanks Mike, for all the hard work that you put into each and every video, every single one, u work your azzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz off and we appreciate it!!!!!!
Wow, 30 years fly by in the blink of an eye!!!!
Wow, really cool pic of u 30 years ago, sitting in the back of your car!!!!!
Mike, it is sad to think all those years are behind u!!!
Some memories do that to me, too!!!
Where does the time go!!!
Dangggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg, Mike, u got that bikini rockin, lookin good!!!!
Thanks Mike for taking us along and sharing some of your memories!!!
It was fun and interesting!
I understand how you feel when you get emotional. I believe it's all the good times and the feeling of how time flies.
It happens sometimes to me too.
I like your videos.
I stayed at the Motel 6 in Vegas in the 1990s for about $30 per night. It was a decent room. I stayed there because the larger hotels were $60. I remember the $0.99 ham and eggs special. The major hotels used to be cheap to get you to stay there because they could make up for it on drinks, food, and gambling.
I remember back in the early '80s when my parents and I set out up to Yellowstone park. We set out on a long road trip at four in the morning from the Los Angeles area. The sun rose when we were driving toward Vegas. For several hours it was dark, but the sunrise was absolutely gorgeous as we were driving through the desert! I remember, as a 9, 10 year old kid how after driving for two or three hours in the desert, we came to a point where we saw Vegas as a group of buildings surrounded by sand.
Yup, time goes by fast when you're having fun. Continue to do what you do and live your best life, GIV!
My man! I went there dozens of times as a kid. Back in the 80s. I remember Thanksgiving with my grandparents and cousins.
Those times cannot be re-lived.
It’s terribly sad.
You're the best Mike. I remember when I was a kid, my family packed up the Van Conversion in the Summer of '84 and we drove around the country. We left California and stopped in Vegas for a few days. My folks slept in the van, while my sister and I sleep outside the van on beach cots in the parking lot of the Circus Circus. That was actually a really cool memory. It was great to hear your Circus Circus memory as well.
To me, Nostalgia and memories are a drug. You take a hit, brief high, then get depressed. I think it leads to stunted emotional and spiritual growth - a daily purgatory. Not into looking back at either the good are bad times. That goes for MOST old movies or songs. No need to get cold and forget, they just need to be put in their place. Yesterday isn't coming back - make what little left is good about our unpleasant current times, the best you can. To me going to nostalgia fan shows or cons is hell - but somehow fun to watch GIV enjoy himself. He's a unique entertainer.
Yeah memories sting, even good ones. Some say nostalgia is actually a mental illness. I think that’s ridiculous, but I’m not sure if it’s totally healthy.
I agree with your thinking...yet looking back sometimes and appreciating the past (good), makes us feel grateful for having met good people, lessons learned, and memories of being younger. Just do it once in a while, not all the time, or you may get depressed and uninspired. Enjoy a life well-lived full of fun but look to the future happiness of God's promises found in the Holy Bible...that works for us :)
I understand. I’m the same way. It’s a tribute to wonderful times and wonderful family. I’ve loved every decade but this one has been harder. When I find new music and movies to love then it will be good memories in the future.
I stayed at the Mirage years ago and eat at the restaurant by the waterfalls. And the woman I was with Died of breast cancer years after that.I think about that every once in a while.Having a nice dinner and relaxing and going to the pool and I'll never be again
Beautiful video my friend. I get your emotional roller coaster ride . I love your videos of Vegas I haven’t visited there since 1996 being in Australia but seeing your videos of there and other Vegas streamers I get emotional in my own lounge room cheers Mike
It’s not how much money you make it’s how much money you save . 🤙🏼 Thank you braddah great advice ! 💪🏼 Awesome Video
You looked much happier when you returned to your neighborhood 7Eleven , welcome home!
I can relate Mike. Pretty sure we are the same age. HS Class of 86 here.
Seeing the GiV cry .. makes me feel like i have something in my eye 😢
Same here,I am in Bangkok,40years ago when I was single Thailand was a blast. Going home next week to Los Angeles.Yeah the good times, never coming back.Agree vote red
The only problem is that the current generation might not remember it as good old times. Because the heartless money sucking society is in decline.
I agree w/ you *GIV* always live below your means & you will never have empty pockets, live above your means & you will forever chase the lost money, you are right *Mike* 💰💰💰💰💰
Mike,
I love watching your videos, especially the then and now sections with the photos. You rock. Keep it up GIV!!!
Mike, we love you... yes, I think it's very reasonable to get emotional for both of those reasons - that you loved that time and you miss it so much. It very much makes sense to me. Thank you for sharing this ❤
Visiting the exact place of the past is the closest thing to actual time travel we can experience, so it's only normal and natural to experience the loss of time and miss it. Happiness & sadness are a package deal, you can't have one without the other. (Yin & Yang)☯😉Thanks for GiVing !!! German in Vegas.👍👍
You're a talented creator, no joke!
Damn right he is!
Beautiful memories of the past are the best❤
Yes. Las Vegas 30 years ago. People who have not experienced that have no idea. A great deal of fun was to be had without needing to spend boatloads of cash. It was an adult Disneyland without Disney prices. Tons of free entertainment, cheap food, great inexpensive shows when you use coupons that were everywhere. I would actually dress up and walk up and down the strip and stroll through various properties. Now it is just a corporate fleece machine and the public outdoor areas are full of hustlers and beggars. The crowd it attracts is very different. It's just a pity.
Amen
Great video as always Mike. Getting emotional is natural bro when you think back and see all the memories flashing by and how things have changed. Missing people, places and things as we all get older. Hello 👋🏻 Mom in Germany 🇩🇪 from Boston Strong 💪🏻 ❤👍🏻
Las Vegas prices are now through the roof. The removal of the Theme Casinos and aiming for the High End is a bad move from an international tourist point of view. Great Vlog Mike, I can relate to your nostalgia. x from New Zealand.
This was my favorite GIV Vegas video. Cool 😎
This mood in here is everything!
Good god those hotel prices are insane! But the memories last forever!
I am crying too. Preserve History Y'all! It WAS better back then.
Amen!
The feelings coming back are from nostalgia.
Thanks for the comprehensive tour. It's been at least 20 yrs. since I have been there. You are right about the outrageous prices.
All kinds off ways to make some money.
Gamble is to riskey.
Thanks Mike .
Whitout you I never see this kind of life.
Blessings and be safe ❤❤
We all get emotional. Crazy when it comes on unexpectedly. Makes you human. Hope your taking care of yourself. Know you hated leaving your mom. She's incredible. Thanks for spending time with us.❤
I’m melancholy all the time. 60 now….miss the 70s
Las Vegas can be a very dangerous place. Jake E. Lee, who used to play guitar for Ozzy Osborne, was just shot while walking his dog in Vegas. Dangerous place.
I heard that it was never safer for tourists than when the mob ran the place.
You are a truth teller.
Great video there nothing wrong with being emotional those were great memories you were reliving because in the end thats all we have and will be.
Nostalgia is make you cry
Thank you very much
Definitely one of my favorite videos of yours. Thank you so much for sharing. 😢
I really needed to hear the way you said. "It's not how much you make. It's how much you save." It opened my eyes and I just want to thank you for that.
Your stronger for moving on homie. Memories are cool. Stay strong we love you giv!🎉no tears . We believe in you. ❤ Say hi to your mom's .✌️🤘💥♥️
Always a pleasure to listen and watch your videos..🤟🤟
Thanks, Mike-GIV😃✌🏜
Yep... Can relate with ya on the memories, like that time... There was something special about that time. It was charmful (as you could see on the Circus Circus sign back then), wonderful, golden, so sweet. 🌟
Mike thanks for the videos its kinda of therapy after a long day of stressful work with grumpy people and short staffed. I feel ya time goes by pretty fast at our age. Youre in the way to 1 million subs!!!!! God Bless
Wie du emotional wurdest musste ich echt selber mit mir kämpfen ... ach man, du bist ein Guter!
Hab ne schöne Zeit ...
Gruss aus Hüls
You da man Mike. Making memories for all. ❤
Amen, it's not how much you make; it's how much you save! Thanks, Mike, for taking us to Las Vegas! I haven't been there for years.
Thanks for sharing this video, very good work bro 👍🇬🇧🙏
I absolutely love this video, especially the part where you reminisce about the good old days, I would love to see more of that in LA.
GIV...you are a kid at heart....thats what I love about you!
I know how you feel... I came back home in January, I'm here now... But I saw the Beatles in Aug 1964... I watched my town change... Keep smiling...
Greg, Las Vegas
Alles Gut. Du bist und bleibst ein sentimentaler Rheinländer. Bleib wie du bist.
ALOT has certainly changed in Vegas in 30 years.
I feel you Mike, and much love to you. We're pretty close in age, and i get how you feel, thing's have changed so much, people have passed on, our mind's are still young but we're getting old, and people who we have watched over the year's are aging and passing on. People are different now than in the past. I remeber when people would just talk to you, because they weren't buried in a phone. The movie's aren't as good as the older stuff like back to the future. I see so many people struggling to pay rent and feed their kid's. Having people like you to watch helps, you are so genuine and kind hearted. You make me laugh, and as I've said before, if i lived closer to LA, i would like to meet you, because your sense of humor reminds me of the stuff i say and do. I don't look at you like some famous actor, but as someone i can relate to. Thanks for sharing with us, and making these video's. Much love from a lady in Michigan. G-d bless.
GIV your life is so interesting! Love learning about all your past & present adventures! ❤ GIV!!
Because as we get older, we become more human.
Hmmm, 🤔 I like it...🙂
really ..point on !! thank-you !!
Getting old is a humbling experience.
@@norwegianblue2017. getting old sucks, actually.
Germans becoming human good joke
Toe action!! You can still make us laugh! I think we miss being young. Dang those hotels prices would make me cry.
I was in Vegas almost 50 years ago when it was a great city! It is unrecognisable today! And has lost its character! A shadow of its once great self!
And don't forget the massacre that happened in 2017
Guten tag Freund ❤

Sweet video!! I've never been to Vegas so seeing this was great!
At least you did it! Don't cry anymore. Father told me, after he saw me crying after my stroke, I can't run, jump, walk-right, do the things I had done prior - At least you did it!
