DO NOT DELETE PREFERENCES!!! Unless you have a backup copy of your project in the cloud or on an external hard drive. I did step by step in this video and “Delete Preferences” on iMac 500GB deleted 75% of a 48 minute video I had been working on for almost a week. But what pissed me off the most was it deleted the closed caption I had on the video. Through trial and error on my own, I was able to get back most the project aside from some edits I recently made but that closed captioning took forever. This video was 3 minutes and 20 seconds and the last 5 hours I took editing cant be recovered. And if you aren’t computer savvy it may be impossible for you to get your project back altogether.

That's strange. Preferences should NOT delete projects, clips or captions.
