    It is a private public partnership. A crown corporation was created. To improve the experience of border crossings. Quarterbacked by federal government to assemble the pieces. A whole of government approach is used like when the plague hit. Which delayed and escalated the price tag. Which the tolls will pay. Not intended to be commercial venture for profit.

    • @bobjonesrealtor7756
      @bobjonesrealtor7756  Месяц назад +1

      Right. PPPs are not transparent and weighted on the globalist agenda from what I can figure out. There are about 400 mega corporations allowed to tender on the large infrastructure projects like the Gordie Howe Bridge, Herb gray Parkway or the NextStar Battery Gigafactory. Our government should not be partnered with any business. JMO.

      @@bobjonesrealtor7756 What is the logic that all local retailers have to pay duty on these goods that they import and are trying to sell, but they have to compete with a group of stores that don't have to pay duty on the goods they are selling ?

    • @bobjonesrealtor7756
      @bobjonesrealtor7756  14 дней назад +1

      Hi sps. That is a very interesting question I don't have a great answer for, so I did a quick search to learn about it. This is what I found;
      Duty-free shops operate under a unique business model that differs from local retailers. The logic behind duty-free stores is based on several key factors:
      Location and customer base: Duty-free shops are typically located in international airports, seaports, and border crossings. They cater exclusively to international travelers, not local consumers.
      Export-oriented sales: Products sold in duty-free shops are considered exports, as they are intended to be taken out of the country by travelers. This is why these goods are exempt from local taxes and import duties.
      Government regulations: Duty-free shops operate under specific legal frameworks that allow them to sell goods without charging certain taxes and duties. This is based on the principle that taxes should not be imposed on goods that will be consumed outside the country of purchase.
      Limited competition: Duty-free shops do not directly compete with local retailers. Instead, they compete with other duty-free shops across international borders8.
      Restricted access: Only travelers with valid boarding passes can access duty-free shops, further separating them from the local retail market.
      Revenue generation for travel infrastructure: Sales from duty-free shops provide an important revenue stream for airports and other travel hubs, which is reinvested in infrastructure and operations.
      It's important to note that while duty-free shops don't pay certain taxes and duties, this doesn't always translate to lower prices for consumers. In many cases, duty-free prices may be similar to or even higher than local retail prices due to factors such as:
      Higher operating costs in airports and other travel locations
      Limited competition within the duty-free environment
      Pricing strategies that take advantage of travelers' perceptions of savings
      Therefore, while duty-free shops have a tax advantage, they operate in a distinct market with its own set of economic factors and constraints.
      Hope it helps! Thanks for the question.

      More like $2 billion was an unrealistic and laughably low figure by the company initially bidding on the project. It’s not uncommon for a company to low ball a big contract to get the project and then come up with every excuse under the sun on why it’s going to cost more after the fact. The entity that awarded the contract to the builder should have seen that as a big red flag from the very beginning.
      If it cost $5 billion to build an NFL stadium in California (Sofi Stadium) then what made people think that a major bridge that carries 25% of the trade between USA and Canada was going to be less than half? 😂

    This bridge wasn't needed (at that cost). It will never pay for itself, and was only constructed because some Canadian bureaucrats didn't think that it was right that one man should be allowed to make all of the money from ownership of the Ambassador Bridge. Canadian taxpayers are once again on the hook for foolish government projects. By the way Canadians are currently paying 1 Billion dollars a WEEK in interest payments on the National Debt. Let that sink in. Government policies are the MAIN reason for inflation, as much as they want to deflect from that fact.

      It's simply speculation at this time. Trump wanted a reaction and he is getting what he wanted. He makes statements to throw the balance off and trigger emotional response. It's working big time. The Canadian Government is finally doing something with the border problem and the immigration and refugee debacle. Why? Fear, is my guess. When it comes down to initiating the tariffs, it may happen, but Trump is not stupid, if he tries to punish Canada the States will suffer financially as well.
      Consider his actions will not go unchecked with our own pushback. We will never know the real truth, but from what I see right now it was a brilliant move.
