While we no longer operate under the Pink Hope name, the video’s message continues to reflect our mission of supporting individuals and families facing inherited cancer risk.
    Being diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer shortly after giving birth to her second daughter, Keely was not only juggling the challenges of chemotherapy, being postpartum, and taking care of her newborn and a 4-year-old but also facing confusing test results.
    ‘The PET scans after finishing rounds of chemo were very confusing. All these things were showing up throughout my bones, and the activity in my lungs had gotten worse. My primary tumour, all the activity in my breast and lymph nodes on that side, was completely gone. We were all really, really confused.
    ‘But it also meant that my mastectomy was cancelled. Being offered a mastectomy meant I was savable. But now it’s being put on hold, so maybe I wasn't? I was devastated.’
    Update: In January 2024, Keely discovered that her triple-negative breast cancer had returned, this time to her brain. It is now classified as metastatic, placing her cancer into the ‘incurable’ category. Despite the classification, there are many maintenance treatments available to help Keely enjoy life with her family for as long as possible. Unfortunately, the recommended treatment is not currently listed on the PBS.
    Keely’s friend, Sarah, has set up a GoFundMe on her behalf. You can read more about Keely’s update and make a donation here: www.gofundme.c...
    ----------
    ‘Beyond the Diagnosis: Confronting Triple-Negative Breast Cancer’ unfolds as a 3-part documentary series by Pink Hope, sharing the compelling stories of Keely, Rhiannon, and Susan, all navigating the challenges of triple-negative breast cancer.
    Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for approximately 15% of all breast cancer diagnoses in Australia each year. This aggressive form of cancer predominantly affects younger women, resulting in poorer clinical outcomes, including higher relapse rates and lower survival rates.
    By giving a voice to these patients and sharing their lived experiences, this documentary series serves as a call to action, advocating for early detection, better support, further research, and medical advancements for triple-negative breast cancer with Australian political decision-makers.

    I can;t believe that they were so lackadaisical with you having a known BRCA mutation. Unfortunately you were at an 80% risk of breast cancer and especially triple negative.

    • @anglophils645
      @anglophils645 6 месяцев назад +5

      In Caucasian women, my research indicates that only 10-15% of triple-negative breast cancers are in Brca1 mutated women. (In Black women, 25-30% of triple negative BC is in Brca1 mutated women.). Brca-1 mutations increase a woman's risk of some type of highly aggressive ductal carcinoma, not necessarily triple negative, by 80%. The Brca 1 mutation also increase a woman's ovarian cancer risk, by 55%. If I were this young woman, I think I'd have surgery to remove my ovaries, fallopian tubes,, and uterus, as a prevention against further cancers.

    • @jennifermoriarty8193
      @jennifermoriarty8193 6 месяцев назад

      @@anglophils645 BRCA1 is overrepresented in triple negative breast cancer. This is illustrated if think of how few women allegedly have BRCA1 (1 in 400) that small group can represent 10-15% or higher of those with TNBC. Absent a known mutation, just having TNBC is enough of a red flag to merit genetic testing. Invasive ductal carcinoma risk (whether TNBC or hormone expressed) is up to 80%. I mostly agree with the comments on OC and the recommendation is to remove at least her ovaries and fallopian tubes by age 40, or after completion of childbearing. Definitely a discussion is merited on the benefits and risks of a hysterectomy and some may join a clinical trial for removal of fallopian tubes only.

      Triple Negative is basically the worst form of breast cancer. Very aggressive and very high risk of it metastasizing. For instance I had estrogen positive breast cancer. This means my cancer is estrogen fed so they could shut off my estrogen and hopefully keep it from returning. When your cancer is negative to hormones, it’s much harder to treat.

    • @Victoria-pz9dv
      @Victoria-pz9dv 6 месяцев назад +3

      What if she did? Hundreds of thousands of women (and some men) developed breast cancer before COVID-19 happened. This lovely young mother said that she learned she had the BRCA gene 10 years ago so, unfortunately, she had a dramatically higher chance of developing breast cancer.

    • @user-KL6370
      @user-KL6370 6 месяцев назад

      Her case unfortunately sounds like a turbo cancer.
      The mRNA is able to deactivate the genes that keep cancer in check.
      I am very sorry for your loss.
      It’s such a tragedy.

    • @Victoria-pz9dv
      @Victoria-pz9dv 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@user-KL6370 Unless you have incontrovertible evidence that there is a direct connection between vaccinations and accelerated tumor growth in cancer patients with the BRCA gene and that this young woman even had the COVID vaccination, it's beyond insensitive to burden a mourning family with these comments. As a triple negative breast cancer survivor (almost 8 years so far), I know that this type of explosive tumor growth would periodically occur in women years before the COVID vaccination was available. Discussing "turbo cancers" and similar theories on an anti-vax thread is one thing. Interjecting those theories on posts that may be read by family and friends already tortured by a tragic loss is inappropriate.

Both of these authors had end stage breast cancer that they reversed naturally and went on to live long lives with no reoccurrence. God bless this woman on her path to healing and most importantly finding truth.

    My wife had breast cancer and she lived well for about eight years using natural treatments. But then she did a tomography, which reactivated her cancer. She started using well-known medical treatments and died within a year.
    Resist the unfounded statements of the doctors and understand that for a lot of them you are just a case that dies or lives, but for you it is essential to live. Fight calmly. Will be fine.

      Nobody asked for your beliefs here. You should instead be expressing your happiness and hope for her, not your negativity. Shameful

    Would have been nice to spotlight a 48 year old. No kids. BRAC negative but like everything they want young ppl to draw awareness to it. DO BETTER. I fought TNBC with no one with no loving husband. Not everyone is as lucky as her. Yet again single women are viewed as worthless!
