Hell nah Takeshi's Castle is its own kingdom and is untouched. Ninja warrior is fancy gymnastiky muscle power whilst takeshi's is watching a bunch of regular japanese folk get battered to pieces in an unstable not very clean and defiantly not forgiving obstacle course / island thing.

After the point where the wall gets vertical no-one is getting any traction, thus competitor height becomes really important. No surprise the tallest dude won.

I think giving the competitors only one shot at doing this makes the winner to be determined more by luck than actual skills. Technique matters a lot here to get proper grip during the climb, and if you only got one chance, what really happens is that the winner is simply whoever is lucky enough to be able to execute correctly on first try.
I think giving them a few tries (maybe three tries) would be useful to help save those who are actually capable of doing the feat but simply step on a bit wrong.
It has nothing to do with luck. It's skill. Only if you are skilled enough to do it on the first try then you deserve to continue. They give them extra attempts at the wall in the other competitions like the city qualifiers but in a competition that is only about the wall?. Only the best deserve to continue.

In contests like these, they should try and have categories -- based on height, weight, gender, etc. Not to be discriminatory or anything, just that those who are taller would naturally have an advantage on a skill like this, or that someone lighter would find it much harder to compete at the same level on the Wingnuts as someone who has a bit more heft and therefore more power on the swing. I do realize that the idea is for people to keep pushing themselves, but when you're up against your own natural limits, it is difficult to tell whether the loss is due to a lack of skill or simply a lack of physiological advantages.
These shows aren't as much about outdoing your competition as it is about outdoing yourself
this shows arent about real competitions, its about the show

This just in from Australian Ninja Warrior. We just defeated your 19 foot warped wall record by 10 inches. Old record 19Ft or 5.79m. New record 5.80m set by Josh O'Sullivan and 2020 Australian Ninja Warrior champion Vic Ben Polson.

On the last run, Phoenix and Flip jumped way higher, than the Giant, in terms of their body length in proportion to the wall. Neither of them really had traction, or a good jump off the last step, it's just that the Giant didn't need to jump anymore, because his arms already reached the top. I mean what's the guy gonna do - he's just tall as hell, and I'm not gonna hold it against him, but the athletic ability of the other 2 guys were just a bit more impressive to me. So Flip and Phoenix jumped higher, relative to their own hight, and the Giant jumped higher in definite hight. I feel conflicted about this video.
It's also easier to jump higher relative to your height the shorter you are. Same reason why some lightweight lifters can lift many times their own bodyweight but for heavier person it'd be impossible.
But I do agree with you. Those guys had way more explosiveness.

Weight of bones and organs of a larger person is one small factor yes, but the main reason is it's harder to generate more power due to how physics works.
Animal kingdom is always great example.
Some tiny insects can jump tens/hundreds of times their length.
But larger the animal in question is, worse the relative performance becomes.
Some household cats can leap 2m to the air, which is like 5 times their height. But you will never see a large feline jump 15 meters to the air(which would be roughly 3rd/4th floor of an apartment)
cm3 of muscle has cross-section of 6 cm2 and volume of one cm3. Ratio of 6:1
Doubling height, length and width causes it to have 8 cm3 volume but cross-section is just 24cm2. Now the ratio is only 3:1
If you double the sides of the square again you get 64cm3 volume but the cross-section is only 96cm2, now the ratio is down to 1,5:1.
I wish I could remember the mechanics behind this more accurately, but the gist is that the cross-section of a muscle is more important than the volume for relative performance.
