Just letting everyone know, these are pretty much just for jokes. Lie detectors dont really work! they just detect when you're nervous/anxiety, so doesnt really count. Like if they actually worked, they'd use them in court right? Makes sense. But these are still very funny, and can slightly guess if someones lying or not.

So... a bit of a correction here.
Lie detectors do work most of the time. They just do not work this quickly. There are obviously the outliers, aka people who don't react when they lie.
The guy that does these is already kind of known for lying about the true/false things for their content and stuff.

All the questions were funny and lighthearted for the most part, and then Abby came out SWINGING, HOLY SHIT
Fun fact: the guy who invented the polygraph would later go on to be one of the biggest advocates against the use of polygraphs when he figured out they don't actually work.

It's not that they don't work its just that you can be trained to resist and not do anything that sets the polygraph off, basically it works, but isn't accurate all the time and with training can throw its readers off
they do work 80-90% of the time, it's just not as reliable and can be easy to resist if you know how

@@TheRealMallard it doesn't work because if someone came up to you and asked "hey have you ever murdered 75 children inside a Walmart on a Tuesday evening?" You might get a little stressed, and then when you say no it could be marked as a lie

Fyi "John" doesn't do legit lie detector test. He's an entertainer first and foremost so he'll often signal what's funny and not what's correct. That's why he does polygraph tests for every creator.
Also, polygraphs aren't reliable at all, that's why they're inadmissible in court. So if law enforcement ever tries to bully you into taking one, just refuse.
Isn't the point of them to try to catch people who think they work? Kinda like how in this video Eric would lie then get called out on it so he'd elaborate. Even if the tester is making up answers, it might lead to the individual offering up legit confessions

Lie detector tests tell by your heartbeat, so if you had exercise before, or are exited, it can be completely wrong

Yup, I remember a guy who was accused of some stuff and they offered he take a lie detector test to help him, he passed the lie detector test flawlessly but then afterwards they were like "well it doesn't matter because it's not admissable in court"

The best part of these is that lie detectors are always really bad, so it doesn’t actually help, it just makes it all funnier
A moderately trained person can easily beat a lie detector, but Eric clearly isn't, so for all intense and purposes of this video, the lie detector is accurate.

There is a reason why they do not send a person straight into capitol punishment after doing a lie detector test anymore.
It's not that lie detectors are bad or don't work, it's just that they're not infallible and you can train yourself to skew the results. On an average, untrained person like Eric, it's pretty good.
I do know this guy from another video, a test like that is possibile but tricky to beat, it requires not only controling emotions, but also paying attension your hand doesnt sweat etc. To learns how to beat that you would have to have more free time then Eric, and train for a long time.
This man has gotten so used to doing this for youtubers and streamers at this point that he has infinite composure

Eric not knowing his mom's birthday reminds me of my best friend since childhood, how every year for at least 16 years, has asked "when's your birthday", and gone through every single month until she gets it right...
*I have a twin sister, and somehow she remembers her birthday... but not mine. Despite it being the same day. She somehow doesn't connect the dots.*
I'd like to add: I have never missed her birthday (6/6, so it's easy to remember, sure) and I have to remind her everytime that I was born on Mothers Day, the year we were *both* born. She could literally do a Google search to find out the date.
I've seen a few of these with John, he's often the best part and he didn't disappoint today either.

Ostensible accuracy of life detectors aside, I sincerely respect & appreciate the bravery and the strong sense-of-self someone has to have to make a video like this, especially when it's simply to brighten our days. Sometimes ppl argue that money is the real motivation, but in this case it seems like he has his choice of ways to make money. He chose this, and it made me laugh for the first time in a couple days.
