I had a stalker in the late 70s early 80s. As Mr Ballen said, there werent any stalking laws, but I had a Dad that worked for the Police Dept and some of my law enforcement "uncles" paid the guy a visit. Never saw him again.
@@megiab this visit was outside the law. Police officers must operate within the law. Unfortunately, this is ineffective. It's a pity that people are forced to make such moves. Defending the lives of loved ones is a priority. It doesn't matter what way.

Yeah, there is no way they would have been able to go about their daily lives if they weren't 100% sure he was gone. Wherever he is buried it isn't deep enough.
lol me too. I hope he punched the life out of him like that mother in the previous scare a thon video who beat up her psychopathic son to an inch of his life.
Only in the 1970's...I lived it. Strange time to leave children under the age of 10 to be left alone for hours upon hours on end...Let alone to have to care of a younger sibling. I mean that I was left alone at age 7 taking care of my 5 year old sister. So messed up.
I'm thinking that when Kim came downstairs and saw her father looking disheveled, he'd already taken care of the problem. And I fully support that action.
@@masterreaper115 I think Mr. Ballen added that dialogue for the storytelling. If you read her actual Reddit post, she doesn’t specifically say what her dad said when she found him sitting at the table with the gun. She only says “I sat with him for a time, watching, before he sent me back to bed.” She ends the post this way, “I don't know if he was in a car wreck, locked in prison, in a coma...but sometimes I wonder if the wait ended for my dad when he was sitting in the darkened kitchen one night. I don't know, and I'm not sure I want to.”
I'm thinking he got his cop friend to find out "information", or had his friend deal with the problem for him...Cop shows up, makes an "arrest", and forgets where the station was..."Oops, that looked really dangerous...?"
There are some lines you just don’t cross and child molestation and stalking is one of them. And the gall of this lunatic to keep continuing even when he was made out as a pedofile.
Considering that the family wasn't awoken by a gunshot; I'd say that Kim's father's desperation scared him off. It's either that, or there's a lot missing from this story.
yes...Like the police says...we can't do anything about it, until he is caught doing something. Okie Dokie..I won't let you see what I am gonna do to that guy.
@@stephenc2481 So my grandfather was an officer at this time period (not in that area but in those days) and there was apparently more than one occasion where he told a father in a similar situation "Look here son, there is not a whole lot we can do about a crime that we have no evidence of. Let me say that again and you listen real well okay? We cannot solve a case where there is no real evidence. Now you go ahead and call again if the person comes back around and you cant handle it." According to him there was almost never another call and the problem seemed to just go away.
That father has everyone's respect. And if he did in fact kill Dr Ramsey, than we should all be very thankful he did the necessary act that needed to be done. Let's hope Dr Ramsey can't harm no one else.

I thought the EXACT same thing when the dad said that he wasn't going to fire a report... you HAVE TO keep a record of abuse so that when inevitably you unalive said person there's direct evidence to support that you were in danger and acted accordingly. Please keep you and your families safe people, learn your local laws and stay educated on the things that matter, you could save your/your families lives one day!!!!❤
Saying "stay away from my family!" "Never call here again!" To someone stalking your family is probably just as effective as saying "swiper no swiping"
Can we all also appreciate the maturity of Kim in this situation, recognising a creep when she sees one and not falling for the ol "free candy" situation
I think that if a grown man stalks a person’s child, the parents of that child shouldn’t be held responsible for how they protect their child from that stalker.
I feel there is a line in which there is no coming back, however, if they ever threaten to harm my child ill gladly go to prison to make sure that there is no chance they will be part of my child's life
Then you aren't mature to enough to understand you cannot take justice into your own hands. There is a limit to what is legal. All murder is justifiable, but regardless of justification is illegal outside of government requirement. Laws these days aren't as terrible anymore. Not perfect by a long shot, but better than they once were. It does such being the victim, but we live in a society where there are rules all should be lived by so we can coexist peacefully. if people do as they please, then there is no point for societies.
@@mrsx7944 He bought a gun and guarded his house with it conspicously. If Ramsay had been watching the family through their windows for months, he probably saw the father guarding his house on one of his window peeping session or something. After months of being scared for his child, he probably stayed up late for weeks or months with that gun. Ramsey probably put two and two together and realized that he had tormented the family for so long, put them all in a state of perpetual vigilance, that the father was likely to just shoot him on sight. Knowing there's a weapon in the house can be enough to intimidate a stalker, though I'm guessing Ramsey wasn't quite all there. Still the idea of getting shot must have been enough to shatter his delusions a little bit. Or maybe the dad made Ramsey 'disappear'. That would be crazy, but not exactly surprising.

true! i remember hearing a story on let's read. some creep tried to cast a father's daughter into their "modeling agency" but he knows it's child trafficking. he played along with those guys at first to gain their trust and then killed them one by one when they least expected it. he forced the last guy to delete the pictures he had of other children on his laptop and he did because he was afraid of being killed but the father killed him anyway after he deleted them. he also tipped the police on their shady business and i think they were able to find the main source(?) of all that, some of which are from different countries. he didn't only save his daughter but he saved potential child victims as well.
The irony is when you were living through it, 1970s America WASN'T scary, because unless you were a victim to something like this, no one even knew things like that were even happening. It's not like now where every incident is posted on Facebook. Everyone lived in their little bubble of false security believing they were safe, completely oblivious to the dangers like "Dr. Ramsey" lurking around them. Actually, had "Dr. Ramsey" not started calling the house and creeping out her parents, Kim might have suddenly disappeared one day and they'd assume she'd been out playing somewhere unsafe and gotten into an accident or something. When they were looking for her, her parents probably wouldn't have even mentioned the "pediatrician" their daughter claimed approached her days ago to the police because they would have believed the interaction was innocent. Nowadays, those of us who lived through it all unscathed hearing stories like this and are horrified, because this could have been any one of us and we had no clue back then it could even be a possibility. How many "Dr. Ramsey's" did I encounter that I was just lucky enough to escape without even knowing I was in danger in the first place??? Now THAT thought is terrifying!!!

The mom probably assumed the daughter had over dramatized the first interaction and it's a small town, maybe there's a new Dr. around. Back in the 70s it was absolutely not weird for adults to talk to other people's children casually, especially in little suburban cities. My mom has loads of stories about growing up in the 70s and adults did not hesitate to approach kids, so nobody pegged that as unusual or suspicious.
@@HorribleGamingFun I grew up in the 70's. In a small town it wouldn't necessarily raise red flags. Especially in a "nice" neighborhood. Hell, the phrase red flag wasn't even used! Stalkers are bloody terrifying. I had one years ago when I lived by myself in an apartment, and the cops basically told me they couldn't do anything "until something 'actually' happens". Great. Thanks. A close friend told her brother (big, super sweet red-neck kinda guy who was home from college for the summer) to stay with me as a live-in body guard. He would come with me to the apartment gym (cause I had stopped going to my regular workouts) and he lived with me for a couple of weeks until the stalker got brave enough to try and break in one night. Unlucky for him, my friends brother had a pistol (his legally) and he shot the stalker in the leg, rolled him over onto his belly when he collapsed and sat on top of him while I called the cops. The guy is now in prison, as he had multiple warrants for sexual assaults, rape, and murder. I still have no idea where the guy had seen me, or where, if we did, have an encounter, and why he chose me, but I'm glad we were able to stop him from hurting anyone else. Stalker stories terrify me, especially when friends, family and authorities don't believe the person when they say they think they're being stalked, then they turn up dead and everyone is like "oh, I guess we should have taken them seriously...". Luckily my friends did.
A creepily determined creep. I don't think I could have let the situation go on for as long as it did. Knowing that he was frequently lurking around outside the house - I would have had to set up some accidents for him to have. It may have been the eighties but it's still ridiculous that the police weren't more interested. And now he is no longer - it leaves the nagging question of who he really was and did he have other victims. Nice deep pit by his favourite peeping window - that would have done it.
Kudos to that dad. And the older brothers. They all reacted perfectly in this situation and I think that’s why they were all able to tell this story. If they had not been so diligent so many terrible things could’ve happened. They had also done an excellent job on educating their daughter on what to do during these kinds of situations
That last line "We don't know what happen to Ramsey's but I think it's safe to say her father had something to do with it" The 70s were the wild west man.
I'm so glad that the dad did what he had to do. It's sad that this was his last resort, and he most likely had to carry the burden of murdering someone from the family to keep them happy. He's a true hero.
There's some maniac trying to abduct a family's young daughter and after he makes it clear he's going to break in, both parents and the two older brothers leave the 3 little kids alone for hours

I was in a similar situation as a 13 year old where a man would try to drive by our house trying to get me into his truck, come to find out he was a registered s*x offender and he police refused to do anything. They told my parents the only way they could do anything was if he actually kidnapped me, my older brother and his friends took matters into their own hands, and would put bricks by each of the trees (because there were a lot in our neighborhood) and Everytime he would come by while we were out they would grab those bricks and threaten to throw them at him if he came near me, so he would try his hardest to catch me alone while I was outside. It was absolutely terrifying, I can't imagine being 9 and going through that. It scared me enough as a 13 year old. Oh a fun fact about that man, turns out he lived two houses down from the middle school I attended even though he shouldn't of been able to do that since ya know...he was supposed to be registered where he lived and all....
You know I usually don’t defend police. But sometimes cops really do want to help but there’s hand are tied by the law. Especially back in the 70’s, thankfully there are now more laws that would have protected their family in this exact situation.
I am just baffled by how the elder brothers thought it was a good idea to go to a skating rink on the very night that their parents would be out, and with full knowledge of there being a stalker lurking about. Pure idiocy.
Why would the parents not have had another adult in the house while they were gone? The cop escort friend? Any parent with that kind of fear for their children, even weeks ago, would have had a responsible adult there, capable of both deterrence and defense.
They have lives too and they're not their brothers and sisters keepers. That's the parents' job. Why do people think it's ok to put kids in charge of kids?

As bad as it was, the stalker gave them some breaks. And I wish the parents had hired a sitter that one night. How nice they had a bedroom that locks. The stalker took a lot of chances. I really like the way that doctor Ramsey never showed up again after the father pulled out his gun. A big part of me is saying let's hope the father gets away with this one. Assuming.
But Dr. Ramsey knew way too much about where everyone was in the house. He could have set up some kind of recording devices in the home. He Told the Dad about 2 points of entry he found into the house! So he could have known the Dad had a gun that night. Maybe he started stalking this family out of a desire to overpower a child, but in the end his desires got bigger. Maybe the game became to drive the Dad to a breaking point? Power can be an addictive drug. I hope the Dad got to confront this guy, but what if the guy wasn't doing this to several families at once and someone else didn't get him first? Either way, Karma may have come back on him.
@@sunshineb5547 nah that theory wouldnt work. A recording device would be possible but even if there was one, if the father had conspired to kill dr. Also, did he already kill him when he was sitting on the chair or was it later on that night
The story probably ended so abruptly because the dad found the "doctor" that night and took him out and dumped the body somewhere but didn't want to tell his family that he killed the guy so he left it a secret.

Then, the parents find out that an unknown man is talking to their nine year old daughter, and he knows her name, and they are sure it's fine because he's a doctor and he smiles. Then, no one fixes unsecured doors and windows. They also screw around with the phone a for a ridiculous amount of time. Then, after all the scariness, the parents leave the children the fuck alone in the house that they know is being watched. No one is even at all concerned anymore for some reason. Then, the older boys fucking leave the girls alone in the house that they know is being watched. Then, after the guy actually breaks in, the kids call no one. They don't even shelter in place.
Oh god, if it wasn't for your friend and the guard, you...would probably end up raped and dead, what is this sick world we live in...
My god this is so scary!😟 I'm glad your'e fine.
well they cant arrest him unless he commits a crime and they cant legally arrest him if he only came to the gym
Glad for you Amber. Cool friro
Cool friends
That was a very determined creep. Let's hope he ended up as good compost in their garden.
That trash needs a dirt nap
A creepily determined creep. I don't think I could have let the situation go on for as long as it did. Knowing that he was frequently lurking around outside the house - I would have had to set up some accidents for him to have. It may have been the eighties but it's still ridiculous that the police weren't more interested. And now he is no longer - it leaves the nagging question of who he really was and did he have other victims.
Nice deep pit by his favourite peeping window - that would have done it.
I was picturing a more remote spot so the dots would be a bit less obvious to connect

Damn the dad killed him 👁👄👁💧
I'm so glad that the dad did what he had to do.
That perplexed me to no end
right? like not ONE parent can stay home? one parent by themselves is capable. little kids?? -.- so dumb lol
I was thinking the same thing!! What in the sam hill were they thinking? & Why, would the parents even think it would be OK to let them go, & leave the Lil ones alone!!??!!
Or at least call a family member or any adult they trust to keep an eye on them till they come back
This was after a period of time that Dr Ramsey hadn't made any calls or drive bys.

Another fantastically told story. This guy is the best story teller ever! Thumbs up.
Good on the school for taking extra precautions and actually listening to poor Kim. I wish the family peace.
It's a fake story. There is no family, no school, and Kim fabricated the entire story. It's from a Reddit thread on SpOoKY SToRiIes!
I find it so interesting that the school took all of this much more seriously than the police. Possibly leading a father to kill (which is 100% understandable). That father deserves a f*ckin' medal of he did take action because the cops sure didn't seem to care. I guess Kim needed to be kidnapped first.
I’m not. Lol
E
We had a neighbor throwing fire at us etc. And the cops said we can't do anything until they hurt someone. So my dad took care of it and they moved!
You know I usually don’t defend police. But sometimes cops really do want to help but there’s hand are tied by the law. Especially back in the 70’s, thankfully there are now more laws that would have protected their family in this exact situation.
There's an old proverb that solves the Dr. Ramsey issue: "Two in the chest, face gets the rest."

i always appreciate a story with a happy ending.
The parents should have asked the cop friend to come over and look after them wile they are at the meeting
Exactly what I was thinking!!
agreed
Right?? That's a serious error in judgment there. I would never have left my kids alone if we were going through something like that.
Or literally anyone
For real someone should have at least been there, first choice the cop friend second choice ANYONE ELSE but Dr. Ramsey (you no what I mean).

Same here, but MrBallen snared me 3 weeks to a month ago. I havent slept well since 😂 at myself
I love this stuff
I am just baffled by how the elder brothers thought it was a good idea to go to a skating rink on the very night that their parents would be out, and with full knowledge of there being a stalker lurking about. Pure idiocy.
Its fiction. Relax.
@@whatever7338 no its not...
Yeap I thought the same
Why would the parents not have had another adult in the house while they were gone? The cop escort friend? Any parent with that kind of fear for their children, even weeks ago, would have had a responsible adult there, capable of both deterrence and defense.
They have lives too and they're not their brothers and sisters keepers. That's the parents' job. Why do people think it's ok to put kids in charge of kids?
What an example of a great dad
When I was a 12 year old girl, I had a paper route. I rode a bicycle and most of my route was in the vicinity of my home. A man followed me around in his car every day. He knew my route by heart plus he lived only 4 blocks from us.It was creeping me out so after about a month of this, I finally told my Dad. My Dad was a very big coal miner and quite intimidating. He paid a visit to the man, but would never tell me what he said to him. The stalking immediately stopped.
Good
Good Dad,,,,,,believed you ,,,,good Dad!
He probably didn’t say much if I’m being honest. He likely dealt with him in a different manner than you’d expect.
Good fucking dad. I love hearing about fathers doing stuff like this for their kids.
your dad is the type of guy to name their daughter B.J. Mauck
Little sister being stalked: alone*
Older brothers: hey wanna go skateboards
Exactly what I thought! Wth... They've let their guard down. The brothers or the mother should've stayed home.
Made me mad that they let that happen. Those kids were surely traumatized beyond repair.
This was back in the day- they were at the skating rink on roller skates, not out skateboarding.
@@allamericananti-christ666 that changes what exactly? 🤔
Nothing had happened for a while, they all figured they were safe for a bit
I personally wouldn't let this go this long before putting a permanent end to it.
Yea it would of been over pretty quickly as soon as he set foot on my property
@@bRenegadez Even before he set foot on my property. The second I found out I'd be doing something about it
Maybe phone call #2 it's stake out time, and he's gonna be in no physical condition to stalk anybody after that 💯
@@joejitsuway960 That's where I'm just shaking my head. While I get that there just weren't stalker laws that the police could enforce back then, there's still plenty of stuff like impersonating a doctor, trespassing, attempted b&e, and general harassment that were illegal and most certainly warrant a few stake outs and, oh I don't know, getting a description of the creep and his car and circulating it around town.
I will help Ramsey get all the way to Bell's Canyon. I know the way
As bad as it was, the stalker gave them some breaks. And I wish the parents had hired a sitter that one night. How nice they had a bedroom that locks. The stalker took a lot of chances. I thought *57 call trace existed back then but could be wrong. Why didn't the children call police when the stalker stayed on the porch so long after pressing the French doors? Did neighbors not see 2 older boys running in the street with knives? The poor dog. And get 2 more right after that, and kept them in.
The cops had a very clear "He's not there, can't help." He would have been gone when they got there, and the family would have heard the same excuse.
It's because this story isn't true. It's an old creepypasta with some names changed.
@@mikesanders8621 Ever think maybe someone took the story and turned it into a creepypasta?
It's not like people's real stories have been stolen and manipulated by the internet before, right? Never happens, you ass.
Thank you for asking some of my questions for me. The night those parents left their young children home all alone infuriated on so many levels and so many ways. It’s like all of them woke up and decided to eat & have secondly helpings of fuggin stupidity.
I really like the way that doctor Ramsey never showed up again after the father pulled out his gun. A big part of me is saying let's hope the father gets away with this one. Assuming.
No body no case.
Can I get a Amen
thats dope as hell if the dad actually killed dr ramsey and disposed of him. thats how to take matters into your own hands mad respect
Ramsey he would had done in secret so therefore dr. Ramsey wouldnt have known. The only question is..where did he kill dr. Ramsey because nobody heard a gunshot. Also, did he already kill him when he was sitting on the chair or was it later on that night
The story probably ended so abruptly because the dad found the "doctor" that night and took him out and dumped the body somewhere but didn't want to tell his family that he killed the guy so he left it a secret.
Wrap the body in a good amount of chainlink fence and roll him into the river.. now the father has zero concern a bloated decomposing bodypart wont float up and start a investigation on said body lol ;) dont know from experience, but seems like a pretty sound plan if need be!
You got to do what you got have to do to protect your family.
i hope he got the satisfaction of seeing him cry and beg for mercy.

@@kylep3764 I watched Cold Pursuit the a couple days ago too.
Every parent's nightmare. Kudos to the older brothers for standing their ground to help protect their family.
The family in the Dr Ramsay story have the self preservation instincts of potatoes. First, the kid doesn't tell anyone she's being weirded out by a strange man. They're wandering around separated, eating cereal. And no one even notifies the school that the daughter is being stalked. I get that the police weren't helping, but holy shit, the level of idiocy shown by this whole family throughout this whole ordeal is mind boggling.
It was the seventies. People were really naive. I was 6 in 1991 and would walk home alone and use my key to get in and be home alone 🤷♀️ things were very different. But you're right, it was all very stupid lol

A small detail left out: the german shepherd was born the same day as Kim, making her particularly special to the little girl :
That makes it so much worse, that’s heartbreaking!
When my girl Willow died I was devastated, she died 16 years ago and I still feel that pain in my heart 14 years later. She was only a few months younger than me, so I’d known her from about 3 months old until her death. I was with her at the very end, stroking her head and ears, telling her I loved her very much, and as painful as that memory is I’m really glad I got to be there for her, because I loved Willow dearly, and still do.
