  • How to Replace Rear Brake Pads in Mercedes-Benz C300 W205 W206 and E300 W213
In this video I demonstrate how to change front brake pads in Mercedes-benz C-class and E-class with AMG brakes
    Mercedes-Benz How-To videos: • Mercedes-Benz How-To v...
Brake Caliper Spreader tool #ad: amzn.to/2YBGYWb
This video is step-by-step instructions for replacing rear brake pads and rotors on Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300 W205 W206
While the vehicle is still on the ground and with the parking brake on, break free all rear-wheel lug nut bolts. Chock front wheels to prevent vehicle from rolling. Lift the wheel off the ground.
Before removing brake caliper and pads you need to move brakes in Fitting position. Press OK to move to Fitting Position
Remove bolt caps and undo 2 caliper bolts
Detach brake pad sensor and Detach caliper wires
Detach caliper and clean caliper with brake cleaner
Push Caliper piston in using caliper spreader tool
    Install new brake pads
Reinstall caliper with 2 bolts. Finish tightening bolts to your vehicle torque spec. For my vehicle: 25 ft. lbs.
Attach caliper wires and attach brake pad sensor
When brake pads are replaced, don't forget to exit Fitting Position

I've got a 2019 C Class 220D. Independent garage said they needed a code to do rear pads which they didn't have. I had a Renault which was a doddle to do - wire from the battery and it wound the calipers back for you. Thanks for the video. Very well filmed and clear. 👏

Great video. For an amateur a couple things to consider. In your brake set. Where the sensor will click in. You will put those pads on separate sides. If you have a large C clamp. Use the old brake pad put it on top of the caliper and use the c clamp to compress the cylinder in. If you don’t have the tool in video.
If you don’t have a 7mm. Use a T45 works perfect. Just changed my rear brakes in less than 40minutes.

I have been a mechanic for over 45 years and have done so many types of brakes over the years its not funny. I am not criticizing and I appreciate anyone who puts up how to videos, I'm just asking. Why didn't you service or replace the rotors? I know the pads will seat, but they will also initially wear very rapidly and will cause some break squeaks down the road. Plus, and most annoyingly will without a doubt cause some brake shuttering when braking hard. Just a thought. Thanks for the video.

Old pads are thinner than new pads - so you need to create space for new pads

If you have operator's manual the spec should be in Wheels and Tires section. Mine is 2017 C300 and it says - 96 lb-ft (130Nm)

You should be able to change on your glc as well by just following this video, and yes - it is good idea to get spreader, it makes the job much easier and it is not expensive: amzn.to/2YBGYWb

What is the purpose of the metal clips on the brake pad, next to the wear sensors? Is it to apply pressure to the pads onto the calipers to prevent rattling? Is it only used on the inside pad?

  • @neverontime
