People are so dead in the soul these days , the music that is pumped out these days fits that. Songs like this with passion and sincerity are from a better time when people had to deal with life not social media in the pretext of life. I hope songs with such passion and heart return to our world, the kind that almost bring tears to your eyes no matter how many times you hear them.
I've been feeling the same lately about a lot of parts of life in our time. Soul has been lost. Just finished watching days of thunder, before that Topgun 2, can't help but think it was the time that made the great films and music we remember with our hearts. The difference is stark. Without Tom cruise I'm not sure that film would have been Topgun.
Fantastic song. From a great film. My favorite John Waite song, and my favorite song from the Days Of Thunder soundtrack. I miss songs like this. Songs that had great beats, great lyrics and passion.
I feel the same way. I just finished watching Days of Thunder and googled the end credits song as soon as I heard it, while noticing the quality in music playing throughout the movie. I saw Topgun 2 the other day, somehow somethings lost from life these days. The movies and the music reflects this, and it's a great mournful loss at that. I actually felt something during the Days of Thunder film that I haven't felt in a while and it stems from the people that made these sorts of things as well as those whom were cast in them. It leaves me with an emptiness where there should be a complexity and richness to fill my soul. We have lost what's important it seems.
Fondest memory of this song was when visiting the amusement park Kings Dominion out side of Richmond, VA. The park was owned by Paramount then. They had the Days of Thunder virtual reality ride. While waiting in line for the ride the soundtrack was playing. We got inside the theater and into the virtual reality race car seats. The lights went down and Deal For Life came on in the theater in dolby surround sound. Chills.

Fantastic J W song. Love it so much!
fantastic song love the lyrics and the singer , cause we are all working for this deal for life ,
had a lot of work myself !
Yeah
In the course of your life
There's a side of each man
That sleeps in the darkest hour
I know what it takes
It takes time, it takes faith
To make the second state of the heart
And a simple taste of love
To lift us up
It's easy enough to believe
'Cause we're working on this deal for life
When your heart's held for ransom
Walk away and your spirit will fly
Bet the light that burns in your eyes
On a deal for life, oh yeah
I never danced in a storm
I was hooked by a hunger
That left a bitter taste in my soul
There's a distance between hard truth and dreams
Some days it pays to run with the chances
I've got a simple tats of love to lift us up
It's easy enough to believe
'Cause we're working on this deal for life
When your heart's held for ransom
Walk away and your spirit will fly
Bet the light that burns in your eyes
On a deal for life
And tennis slaves backhand never moved you
It took a soul all the way to pull you through
And now I won't let go, won't let go
Oh yeah
Got a simple taste of love
To lift us up
It's easy enough to believe
'Cause we're working on this deal for life
When your heart's held for ransom
Walk away and your spirit will fly
'Cause it's easy enough to believe
On a deal for life
When your heart's held for ransom
Walk away and your spirit will fly
Bet the light that burns in your eyes
On a deal for life, oh yeah
It's easy, baby
Oh, it's easy
It's easy to believe
On a deal for life

Can't find this soundtrack on Spotify anymore, most of the songs have been removed.
Great song but not available on either Spotify or Amazon music for some bizarre reason 😢
Uhhhhhhh preciosa canción!!!
Ten times better than "Missing you" from 1984; I never understood why that became such a big hit.
Kinda reminds me of Bad English without the grit.
Good tune for sure!! I love pretty much anything this guy sings.
The year it was released when grunge was raising from the glory days of hard rock and AOR
