Ice as far as the eye can see ...
In this frozen world, swept by blizzards, a lone city clings to life.
Every year during the summer season, the City's guilds organize expeditions.
Their destination: the Valley of the Nuuka, where vestiges of an antediluvian civilization might be buried. Looking for answers, prestige or riches, every guild has its own motivations.
Players are archeologists exploring tiles that they can remove. There are 3 levels of tiles in the game. The first one corresponds to the ice sheet level. The second and third represent surface and deep artifact levels. The bottom layer level is the City of Azulia...
I·C·E is a game of Exploration - 3D tile mining - Collection
The goal is to validate Requests and score Decrees from the City to get the highest number of Renown points when the fourth Day is over.

This is one where I was so tempted to back the first time, but because it was expensive, from a new publisher, and from first time designers, I held off, figuring if it was good, it would be back. Glad I did.
I am so often finding that the really good and successful games end up coming back to crowdfunding in one way or another, especially from newer designers/publishers, or smaller companies. If ever uncertain, hold off and wait.
So I guess it was more competitive than you thought it would be!
Thanks for the playthrough, btw!
Lol yes
Going through right now but I keep getting distracted by the spider plush on the shelf behind you two ^^
Was it from any game in particular ?
Found it 🎉
It's on squishable 🥳But then sadly not related to any game ^^
Seems like the glide ability would benefit from a flip token to track if used that round or not.
Agreed!
Nice video and cool to see some mechanics come into play. many possibilites to make some groundbreaking (hehe) combos :)
Though I'm afraid you misunderstood the collapsing rule. You guys took tiles away that had two adjacent tiles while it is actually only collapsing with only one adjacent tile as the rulebook says. That's also why you cleared more than you should have in a 2-player game.
We covered this at the beginning, the specific edifice we were playing with, changed the rule for this game to collapsing with two tiles.
So it says its a 1-5 player game, but you two excavated over half the board. Is there something to mitigate that and make it harder to get tiles at higher player counts? Cuz otherwise wouldn't the whole board be empty before the end of the fourth round with 5 people
We were using a mode that had the ice collapse with two edges touching instead of just one, so I think that made the board clear a lot faster too, but I am curious for that edifice and 5 players!
I thought this one looked cool before but now I definitely see the appeal. I like the decisions you have to make and the aesthetic really nails the theme.
Fyi, Meg didn't use her glide the second turn, she realized she wouldn't have enough archeologists to make digging free so at 25:31 she decided to go north east and then used a snow tile ability to move her and an archeologist to the tile she was going to glide to
Also the tile you took around 39:38 should have already collapsed
Thanks! Good catches on both :)
Please keep the overhead view, the people view is not very useful.
Worst game ever made imo.
Why?
@@happypancakes it’s the only game my group scooped and never wanted to play again. Absolutely horrible mechanics and people can literally use some crappy tile to take your entire turn away from you. Very bad design.
Fascinating...there's so many games I would put as terrible, this one wouldn't make that for me
@@BoardGameCo to each their own really, but my group absolutely hated this game. We scooped mid way through and thought some of the mechanics were just plain unfair. Not to mention some absolutely horrid balancing issues with player powers. I genuinely think this game (1st edition at least, though looks like not many changes) was completely ignored when it came to playtesting.
