    It’s really interesting to see how far we’ve come from the USFF series Netburst era. Super hot and not much performance to show for it. Now we have PC’s this tiny and efficient that are able to blow away full multi-core workstations from 5 years ago running at full power. I do miss the cathardic sounds of mechanical HDD’s and activity lights showing you what’s going on inside the box. It seems more like a means to an end rather than experiencing your PC working through heavy workloads. Maybe I’m in the crazy minority here. Most other people I know hate loud PC’s but I like it.

    I have the 5000 version at the office and it's a great little machine. It's much like the 7000 but the second SSD slot isn't fitted. You can get them with Type-C port on the back that is ideal for something like a 5k monitor and then still connect a couple of 4k monitors to the displayports as well.

    Dell does very nice work. I've got several older refurbished Dells, and although they're not the most up to date machines, they are very serviceable and sturdy. I don't even remember ever having a problem with any of them.

    Interesting unit. I have read that there is an issue with the latest Microsoft updates for March. The issue has to do with a substantial decrease in read write speeds to the SSD. This might be the cause of the strange readings you got testing the SSD speed. A number of people has experienced this. It might be affecting your other tests. Who knows? You might want to back out the March update and see if this corrects the issue. Just a suggestion. Great review.

    This form factor is excellent with huge disadvantage that disappoints and pushes out of acquisition.
    This doesn't allow to power over USB-C despite it supports Alt mode Display Port over USB-C. So cables cluttering you will not avoid. Despite power from modern monitors may be even up to 130 Watt.

    Sir meteorlake with 50% better performance per watt than 13 gen is 100% confirmed to go on sale in November 2023 in low volumes or limited stocks.
    It won't have performance upgrade in CPU but 2 times faster igpu than 13 gen iris xe.
    This year Intel meteorlake laptops are looking crazy good and i wish they should use solid state cooling.
    Arrow lake desktop chips are also listed on hwinfo and coming in 2024.

    I do use such keyboard and mouse frome Dell for two years, thanks to our company, that supplied for working from home during Covid's lockdown.
    Initially I've concluded, that was the best keyboard I had ever had. But. Recently, numpad's "1" started working badly. Was frustrated. Even returned old Logitech for a week, but later on returned this Dell back.
    I just remember how it works.
    So, if you work hardly, probably don't expect it will serve you more then 3 years or so on.

    Sorry Dell. Over priced. Why would anyone get this gutless APU micro desktop, when they can buy a base Mac Mini M2 for $599, with better graphics and performance. A lot quieter too.
    It will run windows better than a Windows machine.
    Seems everyone copies Apple on 8GB ram, windows desktops need 16gb at min, your not Apple, your systems are not as optimized. Hence ram hogs. Lol.
    Andrew your doing a great job, nothing against you.😊

    • @andrewmarcdavid
      @andrewmarcdavid  Год назад +2

      Thanks and no offense taken of course. I will say this there is something to be said for being able to upgrade RAM, SSD, Wifi etc..Also, TI think the Mac Mini is geared towards a different audience than this particular micro computer. Having said that, the price of the Mac Mini is certainly a key point especially when you are getting better graphics performance. As for CPU performance, this Micro is really good as indicated by the single and multi-core performance. Also, running Windows in emulation mode in Parallels etc. is not really ideal since there will be some applications that will not work properly if at all.

    • @Technocrat.
      @Technocrat. Год назад

      @@andrewmarcdavid True, I agree with SSD and Ram upgrades, but as they are not integrated like Apples, slows down the speed.
      Have you tried the Microsoft Dev Kit Arm SD Gen 3 $599 USD or $799cad, 32 GB ram, 512gb SSD. Win 11 arm.
