Robert Patrick (the new terminator) ran track in school. Brilliant performance from him and everyone. Such a good movie!

Sarah's development between movies is one of the most incredible. Linda Hamilton transformed her body for the role to embody the warrior Sarah has become and it really sells the performance. But she still has the drives and instincts of a mother, which are central to her motivations. The fact that her twin sister Leslie had to get in the same shape for the mirror shot & Sarah v Sarah scenes makes it even crazier.
I was really impressed at the physical condition she got in for the role. Made her way more believable. Wish more across these days were as dedicated to the craft
Hollywood today wants strong females characters. Well, Sarah Connor and Ripley from Alien are how you develop strong female characters correctly. Great performances.
I've said this in countless reactions to this movie - but I love the juxtaposition of Sarah literally turning into a Terminator-like assassin when she goes after Miles Dyson to stop him from creating Skynet and only stopping because she realized as the last second what she was about to do, and become by doing it. Not to mention the incredible performances from everyone in that scene, and the entire movie. As others have said, not just one of the best sequels ever, one of the best movies ever made, hands down.
@Meg Delaney: Yes! Linda Hamilton was really good in that brilliant, but unfortunately short lived, series. And, yes - with Ron Perlman as "Vincent" ( the "Beast" character. )
In addition to Robert Patrick's running skills, he also learned to fire weapons without blinking. He had a brief but funny cameo in the comedy Wayne's World not long after this movie as well. The woman that played John's foster mother also played Vasquez in Aliens.
I was 14 years old when this came out and my cousins and I went to see it in the theater and everyone was clapping at the end. The movie technology,at the time, was mind blowing. The liquid metal was insane back then
Miles Dyson was a real hero. Once he knew what was going to happen he decided to work with the people who just shot him in order to save the world. He even gave the cops who shot him time to get out as he was dying. Dyson deserved far, FAR better than he got.
"how is he keeping up" Robert was actually a track star. And after his training for this movie. He actually needed to slow down... So they could get the shot 😂 😂 Robert wasn't only that fast as a human He was faster then the acceleration of the dirt bike at that time. Otherwise Robert caught up every time. He was that fast.
It wasn't the dirt bike Robert was catching every time, it was the tracking vehicle with a movie camera mounted on the back to film him running from in front which had poor acceleration.
My favorite part of this movie is Sarah’s transformation and I think that the guy that played Dyson portrayed one of the best death scenes ever. Such a great job by all of the actors.

This movie is one of my all-time favourites. I was about 13 when I watched it the first time. All the characters are great but I do like the fact, that Miles Dyson is not some lunatic scientist trying to rule the planet. He is just a regular human being with a wife and a kid but he is also very ambitious. His character reminds me of Alfred Nobel who simply wanted to make mining safer for the miners, so he invented dynamite. Unfortunately his invention turned into something utterly evil.
I loved that too. He's not a nut case who doesn't care at all about humanity or someone so overly ambitious people don't matter to him. He's actually a nice guy who cares about his family and people in general. He's excited about the possibilities he sees but he's not a 2 dimensional bad guy. He's just a guy. I love how his family reacts when under siege, too. They are terrified but trying desperately to protect each other. Solid acting. Makes the whole thing more poignant.

Cool callback: When the T-800 (Arnie) sees Sarah again (really meeting her for the first time) in the psych hospital, he says, "Come with me if you want to live", the line Kyle said to Sarah when they first met in T1. The T-800 basically took the place of Kyle, protecting Sarah. Love little gems/callbacks like that. Edit: Oh yea, and another cool tidbit---Robert Patrick (T-1000) is brother to Richard Patrick, lead singer of popular industrial rock band, Filter ("Take a Picture", "Hey Man Nice Shot", etc).

It was nice to see you enjoy this great movie for the first time. I hope to see you react to more movies. May I suggest the movie Platoon? It was the movie of the year in the U.S.for 1986. I'll be looking out for whatever you do.
Got to see this in a drive in theatre when it first came out. It was a double feature along with AIRPLANE. My brother and I sat on top of the car. Full lot. The squeals and yelps that could be heard were insane! The liquidator was terrifying. One of few lovely memories from my childhood. Every little girl with a pulse was in love with John Conner. :)
I must have seen this movie at least a hundred times growing up. My mom used to put it on to go to sleep every night for months at a time Fun fact, the foster mother here is the same actress who played Vasquez in Aliens~ Interesting fact only to me, John Connor the character was born the same year as me, but the actor is 8 years older than I am even though the movie/irl time difference is only two years
Same as the first one, the final line here goes like a moral. Besides interesting how the final music in the 1st movie sounded like ready to face the battle while this one here is actually brings relief and hope.
Fun Fact: At 21:48 the “mini gun” Arnie discovers is the same gun (prop) Jesse “The Body” Ventura used in the movie, Predator, which also starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I'm not here to be a jerk or a know-it-all, I'm just going to carefully place a comment here and then silently walk away, and it's perfectly fine if you did not know this before reading this comment, or if you did, either way, it's all good, and even if you just don't care about any of this, that's cool, too. Here it goes. The very first movie to use CGI was either Westworld (1973) or Vertigo (1958), depending on what you count as CGI. And from that time until 1985, CGI was few and far between, because it tended to look... not good, and was super expensive - 12kb computer in 1973 cost $4680, 384kb computer cost $500 in 1984. Around 1985 was when computers processing speed could be counted in megabytes and not kilobytes. Computers could take up whole floors in a big building and yet still weren't as fast or as good as the phone in your pocket. So, before 1977, unless it was Star Wars, which hardly had any, or any of the experimental films that were entirely computer generated and were very primitive looking by today's standards, anyway, before 1977, the movie in question probably had no CGI. And before 1984 (the year the first Terminator movie came out), the list is 12 movies, that's how many movies incorporated CGI between 1980 and 1984. Tron (1982) had a ton of CGI, but was still so much in the CGI infancy that they had to film the computer monitor to get the CGI shots. So, anyway, I said all of that just to say that anyone can just say "special effects" if the movie is older than 1985 because that is a term that includes CGI. It's like looking at a dog and you have no idea what kind of dog it is so you say "cute dog" rather than say "cute Husky" and it turns out that it's actually a Norwegian Elk Hound, so you're golden.
Rest in peace to Leslie Hamilton , she is Linda Hamilton's identical twin , she died of COVID-19 August 2020 She was in this movie ..If you don't know Linda Hamilton plays Sarah Connor
After T2 in 1991, Linda Hamilton would star alongside Pierce Brosnan in 1997 on Dante’s Peak, which is another great hit to check out from the 1990s and features some great CGI, practical effects, and the largest miniature sets in film history. All of which holds up very well today. Dante’s Peak was also a nominee for best visual effects but lost to Titanic that also came out in 1997 and was also praised by scientists as being the most accurate volcanic disaster film ever made, which also helps that director Roger Donaldson had a degree in geology before he became a movie director.
Did you know Linda Hamilton had a an identical twin sister Leslie , she pass away in 2020. Leslie was in Terminator 2 and she did some of her sister"s stuns and when Linda was dreaming that was Leslie she was looking at.
Linda Hamilton forgot to put her earplugs in during a take in the elevator scene when Arnold shoots the shotgun inside. This caused her permanent hearing damage in one of her ears.
I am very impressed! The first time I watch this and the first time I heard of most everybody in my friends circle that watched this we all assumed that Arnold was the bad guy you were the first person I have ever seen react to this movie that didn’t automatically assume that, and in fact are correct about who the bad guy is. There was a big snafu when this movie was going to come out where Arnold was in an interview on the talk show and the host of the talk show says so what is it like to play the good guy this time? And Arnold looked at him with this this I don’t know surprise him that the host on his TV show just told millions of people this the surprise that was going to happen in the middle of the movie where that the reveal would be that Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the good guy this time. You’re gonna love all the special effects this the show got awards on special effects. I know now why you cry, but it is something I cannot do. Kills me every time.
One of the best adventure/science fiction movies of all time, without a doubt. I always marvel in a way at the difference in the 'deaths' of the two cyborgs. The T-1000 falls screaming into the molten steel desperately trying to find a way to escape it. The T-800 (The Terminator) goes peacefully and willingly to his death, knowing that it was necessary to complete his mission. Maybe he can't cry or feel emotion, but he learned to understand it. He therefore accepts death to complete his mission. To protect John and through him to protect the future. The franchise should have ended here, with the final message of hope being the point of it all.
According to Terminator lore , Skynet only made one T-1000 because the T-1000 was difficult to programme and was fully autonomous so Skynet feared it might "go rogue" and destroy Skynet.
The thing about planes flying themselves has been standard for years now. Planes can and do takeoff, fly and land without any imput from the flight crew. The crew are there to take over if anything comes up. One time the wrong destination was imputed and the crew didn't even know they were going the wrong place till they started talking to ground control about landing.
I can tell you had a great ride through this film I knew you'd enjoy this banger of a film and happy to see many of my recommendations lot of these classic films that you just don't get anymore in the same quality original ideas. Awesome video !!! Highly recommend Aliens from here and Abyss as well 👍
That is the company that builds the machines. It's why it's worthwhile to watch Terminator III as it gives you sky nets back story, plus Arnuld is back...
I only found out recently, that the woman who played John's step-mother in this movie, is the same woman who played the badass latina marine in Aliens and the Irish mother in Titanic.
This movie was very impressive on the big screen when it came out. CGI was still relatively new and in most movies it have been used in it looked a lot like a video game. This movie did have a couple of dodgy CGI moments, there were enough excellent ones to make up for it. When the T-1000 walked through the bars, the head shot, and the reversal in the factory fight were amazing and got big reactions. It has also long amused me to think that the shrink ended up in Sarah's old room after having his world shattered so severely.
If you get the chance, watch some of the interviews that Linda Hamilton and Arnold did together, especially on the Korean Englishman's channel where they're eating Korean food and Arnold acts like he's never had it😄. They're interaction with each other is great.
It's kinda ironic, what you said about CGI at the end, considering the use of CGI, which was in it's infancy at the time,, was one of the major selling points of this movie. Just like present-day, James Cameron pioneered cutting-edge movie making technology in most of his films, including this one. CGI had just started being used in filmmaking, with this movie being one of the very first to implement it for special effects, before it exploded and forever changed filmmaking, in the few years after this movie.
As great as the original 1984 film was, T2 blew it right outta the water. And it's open ended ending was perfect for it, it was hopeful. As far as I'm concerned, the original two films are the only ones that matter.
The original two ARE the only ones that matter. The whole point of "no fate but what we make" suddenly in the third became "it was always going to happen no matter what." It ruins the story.
I don't know about better, exactly. It's kind of an Alien/Aliens thing, where the movies are both great and it's down to preference which kind of movie you like better. In both cases the first movie is scarier and the second is more action. Robert Patrick trained hard to be able to run without breathing. It does a great job of making him seem much more machinelike. He is truly menacing in this movie.
Thank you, thank you. This is a great movie I love this movie so much and know so many stupid things about it. Robert Patrick spent 100s of hours at a shooting range. For the purpose of getting rid of the subconscious tick that a vast majority of people experience when they hear an extremely violent noise such as a gunshot. Which is why when he and Arnie have their shoot out in the mall Robert Patrick doesnt blink even once while firing his gun at Arnie. Now your have to do Rocky 2 keep the trend of sequels being better than the original.
there was an alternate ending to this movie, which would have ended the franchise with T2: a scene of Sarah at a playground as an elderly lady in the year 2029, with a voice-over explaining that they stopped Judgement Day from happening. she was watching as her son, John, was playing with his own child, and he was now a senator instead of the leader of the human resistance.
17:41 “Imagine seeing an absolute copy of yourself.” They are actually twins. They are in another movie “Gremlins 2: The New Batch”. I would recommend watching the “Gremlins” movie first before watching the sequel.
Such a great movie. I actually saw this one before watching the first one. Yes, I like this one the best of all Terminators movies. Great story line and you’re right, all the actors were on point!
26:57 - That's none other than Dean Norris - Hank Schrader from Breaking Bad - still playing a cop even this early in his career. Anyway thanks for another great reaction.
Hats off to the helicopter stuntpilot in the final chase scene, I get chills everytime he flies in after them in the tunnel. They even crashed the helicopter into the truck for real. It really makes you appreciate the time before CGI took over. Even if they of course can do amazing stuff with it, it still feels like there's a sort of vail over the screen in any action movie nowadays. This movie really hit the golden spot though; Before CGI was a thing and with a huge budget to be able to make Good practical/real effects. I prefer it any day.
Here's the thing we are already experiencing James Cameron's either Wildest Dream or worst nightmare in this techno War we already seen the emergence of cybernetic organism thanks to neuralink as well as prosthesis like that that you see on the movie I Robot we already seeing the transformation of the possibilities of having HKS or Hunter killers in the form of Reaper drones or the switchblades suicide drones
Among the many Terminator films out there. I only acknowledge T1, T2, and the mini film T2:3D as canon towards each other. The rest are just dismissed as "alternate timelines." Like a "What if?" scenario.
How is he keeping up? Before he went into acting he was or had track star speed. The director of the movie told him to slow down because he kept catching up to the dirt bike john was driving
There was no CGI in The Terminator. The first use of CGI as we know it was in The Abyss in 1989. Terminator 2 was the first usage of a few minutes of CGI.
I can't believe I watched this film before watching the original one. I was about 6-7 years old when I first saw T2. My sister had it on VHS at the time, and I watched the crap out of it. I think I was 14 when I saw the first film, and was wondering about the events prior. It all made sense. I haven't had a chance to watch the other films, but I did see Dark Fate in theaters when it premiered. Great movie!
Same here. Watched the second one about 10 times before watching the 1st. Was confused about a few things until I watched the second one. Was new to watching movies back then. Was in my 20s when I started watching movies. Since then I've watched around 4000.
I liked Dark Fate. I don't know why nobody else liked it. I thought it was fun and Arnold's storyline I found hilarious. I didn't really like Salvation. I'll have to give it another chance. I just didn't like what's his name as John Connor.
@@JayStephens8 Yea that guy. I just don't like him in general. But 10 year old me had a huge crush on Eddie Furlong in this movie. Poor man did NOT age well. I just found Christian Bale's portrayal to be too different than the other Johns. He acted like he wanted the job to be the leader, but he never did. Now my cat is named John Connor, but he's scared of the vacuum, toaster, water fountains, ice maker, and self cleaning litter boxes.

Interesting fact only to me, John Connor the character was born the same year as me, but the actor is 8 years older than I am even though the movie/irl time difference is only two years
Same as the first one, the final line here goes like a moral. Besides interesting how the final music in the 1st movie sounded like ready to face the battle while this one here is actually brings relief and hope.
The crazy thing is all the stunts are practical, from the truck going off the bridge to the bike jumps to grabbing him off the bike
Fun Fact: At 21:48 the “mini gun” Arnie discovers is the same gun (prop) Jesse “The Body” Ventura used in the movie, Predator, which also starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This movie will always be one of my favorites. Imo it is one of the best movie sequels out there. The CGI and practical effects hold up pretty well
Terminator 2 is the best film in the series. You can forget about the other parts.
Thank you Kabir. This was an awesome part of my day.
Saw this when I was 13 or 14. Im 44 now. Still my favorite movie!
Still, one of the few films that make me cry at the end, 30 years later.
0:43=There was no CGI in the original Terminator film.
The 70's, 80's, and 90's were tough guys. Now comic book heroes
In both movies, Sarah kills the Terminator by pressing a button. Same act, but very different circumstances.
I love the filter you have on the video. Given it a more 80s VHS vibe!
It really tied everything together.
So thrilled your watching T2!
You’re mistaken. There’s only two Terminator movies. Yes. Only two.
I can tell you had a great ride through this film I knew you'd enjoy this banger of a film and happy to see many of my recommendations lot of these classic films that you just don't get anymore in the same quality original ideas. Awesome video !!! Highly recommend Aliens from here and Abyss as well 👍
Robert Patrick is a great actor !
RIP Tyson, he wasnt a machine from the future or a super soldier, he was just a father, but he went out like a hero, is a shame he died.
That is the company that builds the machines. It's why it's worthwhile to watch Terminator III as it gives you sky nets back story, plus Arnuld is back...
Watch Terminator:Salvation with Christian Bale and Sam Worthington next. It’s so GOOD!!
I only found out recently, that the woman who played John's step-mother in this movie, is the same woman who played the badass latina marine in Aliens and the Irish mother in Titanic.
Never miss an opportunity to watch this again and again and again
There was no CGI used in terminator.
It’s equally great as the first movie. I love them both and I usually watch the first half of both which for me are the best parts!
Yeah the setups and introductions of the characters is always a fun part a movie
Completely agree. The tension throughout this movie was off the charts
The original two ARE the only ones that matter. The whole point of "no fate but what we make" suddenly in the third became "it was always going to happen no matter what." It ruins the story.
It's funny that you said "imagine seeing an exact copy of yourself" because that guard and the terminator are twins irl lol
Agreed, both movies are quite different but both fantastic
Good point. I like the first movie better, in both cases. But I'm a special effects geek, which complicates the calculus.
You kinda remind me of my late grandmother in this one. She used to give advice to the characters in movies and on TV, too...😁
Hello across the pond Kabir. 'Metallic Angel Of Death'. All these years & I've nevah heard such an apropo description of the T1000. Cool.
17:38 - The actors in this scene would be used to seeing a 'copy' of themselves, because they are actually identical twins.
The way the 1911 sounds at the guard shack at the mental hospital is amazing
I don't think the first movie had any CGI. I think it predates CGI.
Oh no you accidentally spoke during one of the iconic lines “come with me if you want to live” which is the first thing Kyle Reese said to her.
Greatest action movie of all time :)
there was an alternate ending to this movie, which would have ended the franchise with T2: a scene of Sarah at a playground as an elderly lady in the year 2029, with a voice-over explaining that they stopped Judgement Day from happening. she was watching as her son, John, was playing with his own child, and he was now a senator instead of the leader of the human resistance.
The best ending.
There was no CGI in the '80s. The original Terminator did not use CGI. It used old school stop motion animation which makes it even more impressive.
Tron?
With over 3 billion killed before the opening credits, T2 once held the record for highest body count in a movie.
He likes playing cops, I just watched a Little Miss Sunshine reaction after not seeing it for years and he's one in that as well.
The world is going to change so much over the next decade, automation & AI are already taking so many jobs away from humans
It’s honestly hard to believe there are people that haven’t seen this flick.
Among the many Terminator films out there. I only acknowledge T1, T2, and the mini film T2:3D as canon towards each other.
The rest are just dismissed as "alternate timelines." Like a "What if?" scenario.
Joe Morton(Miles Dyson) is also in Speed and The Justice League.
How is he keeping up? Before he went into acting he was or had track star speed. The director of the movie told him to slow down because he kept catching up to the dirt bike john was driving
Great reaction
There was no CGI in The Terminator. The first use of CGI as we know it was in The Abyss in 1989. Terminator 2 was the first usage of a few minutes of CGI.
Knew youd love it! 'Nother one of my favorites!
Favorite line: "I need a vacation."
Congrats on being Terminator-baptised!!
That scene with Sarah seeing Kyle in the psych ward was cut from the theater version.
t-1000 is robert patrick. this was really his only famous role
but i do like him in season 2 of the sopranos and his cameo in waynes world 2
And his appearance in "X-Files", as Scully partner for awhile. He had the nickname liquid metal guy.
I feel old. I have this movie on VHS.
Age is but a number mate 🙂
never realized how many scanlines are in this
Great movie, t3 I enjoyed but I see why people dislike that one, salvation I really like, genesis and dark fate 🤮
I liked Dark Fate. I don't know why nobody else liked it. I thought it was fun and Arnold's storyline I found hilarious. I didn't really like Salvation. I'll have to give it another chance. I just didn't like what's his name as John Connor.
@@catgirl6803 Christian Bale aka Batman I thought he did a good job at being the leader of the resistance
T3 is good but only as a non canon companion film.
@ agreed
