This isn't exactly a minefield in civilian life, but it's on the edge of 'unacceptable behaviour' to suggest to someone that they're not properly fitted, when you wouldn't hesitate to suggest that someone's on the wrong size bicycle or using an axe or shovel with the wrong length handle, and risking injury or low performance as a result. Part of the cause of this is the shift earlier in age of puberty in developed countries, and that's in part due to lower activity levels - a circular problem. It's great that the armed forces are dealing with this openly and directly, but we should be doing a better job of this as parents, families, and communities.
@JelMain marks and sparks were the only shop I ever heard of offering 'consultations'. My household's people who need bras went to see the M&S 'bra lady' once but were painfully conscious of never hearing of anyone else who ever went. It's not unusual to hear of people being carefully measured in great detail for bicycle or running shoe fit?

Not a joke at all - I work in a Ph 1 establishment and a lot of acts show up without sports bras or with ill fitting ones. They are fitted and provided 2 (I believe) during training and then the new roll out has pushed through where we are able to claim back up to £50 per year on sports bras. The navy and raf already have this implemented. Most people with breasts are going to need a sports bra for high intensity activity... why not have an allowance for this!!

@ They have changed the regulations for hair. This is to become more inclusive and attract recruitment. It’s so dangerous. A close friend is a RM PTI and to enter his gym hair has to be tied up. Not popular amongst the girls especially if they have invested in hair extensions. It’s only a matter of time that hair gets entangled. The tabloids will have a field day.

@ yes they do but I have seen a video that they are now changing respirators or making them so that they can be worn with beards or no beards. Problem is that cost lots of money that could be well spent somewhere else in our Military in my opinion, just make Military personnel shave like we have been doing for hundreds of years plus we look more smarter with clean shaven, beards look so scruffy, yes fair enough there are certain times beards could be good to have like on Operations in the Middle East or very cold climate but when not and at home it should be in my opinion be clean shaven. What it is really down to is not to offend certain religious personnel in our Forces, that’s all it really down to sorry to say. It makes our Forces look scruffy.

The lasses deserve every opportunity the blokes do but we need to be careful to not make someone more equal than the next…
So if this were an issue of women going and getting boot fittings, would you still be so triggered and so upset? Just let them get the right size kit and move on. It's not that complicated and it doesn't need to make people feel these complicated feelings.
