respect from the UK. great to see some positivity in a rather uncertain time for Britain.
Japan and the UK are very much similar in both ethics and practice. We have both been through a similar (yet vastly different) history. We are both on an Island. This gives us a similar concept to how we deal with situations. Like with the HEAVY importance on Our Navy.
Japan should be calling their Army an army, and their navy a navy. Because that is what they are. There are no better or tougher soldiers or sailors in the world. Old U.S. Marines told me all about them. Japan , like any other great nation ought to be proud of their armed forces. Best wishes from the U.S.A.. the British ability to "ramp up" and to operate worldwide is a unique advantage that should never be underestimated.
British banter is one of a kind. The morale of the soldiers and citizens during war time was higher than expected as they simply slagged one another off and made in appropriate jokes. A true wonder that needs to be more common.
@Sakkra101 ummm what? do you know what WW2 was? do you know why there was a pacific theater of battle? If Japan was an ally, there wouldn't have been a pacific front. There wouldn't have been a lot of great things from Japan, like cars, radios, cellular devices, that they made huge advances in. This only happened because Japan was defeated and adopted western politics, innovation, and capitalism. They were an imperial military country. If they were allies some how, then they would have become similar to the soviet union with China under their heel. Atrocities could have occurred in China, like they already did, even more and never told. Which also means, all the cheap labor from the China would never have happened.

@PinkAlien you do knew that the British and japanese fought against each other in Ww2 right? So yeah technically the military alliance is being restored
Self Defense Force having marine corps and AAS? What a funny joke jajaja
¿Glorious Anglo-Japanese Alliance? It looks like a sad aggressive gesture, which harks back to the imperial fixations of both nations, which had claims laid in China. Oh yeah.....There's also the general consensus (primarily pushed forward by the UK govt.) about Russia being a common enemy to both. It's unfortunate and disconcerting how after a long cold war (and the bullshit G-War On Terror), the ghosts of the cold war are returning and the main antagonists pushing an aggressive accusatory posture are the U.S political establishment, the UK govt.(Its reemerging imperialistic musings), NATO lackeys and now the Japanese Diet (With its imperialistic intentions). I love British and Japanese music and other cultural aspects of both nations, but I don't like the potential war maneuvering that is taking place.

They had an ideology that viewed prisoners as below contempt, to surrender was to lose your honour and this made you below human in their eye's. They had a manifest destiny school of thought in regards to china that was a cause of rampant overpopulation on the island resulting in famine, the Chinese people where thought to be entirely inferior and they committed more war crimes than any other nation in the second world war combined killing 8 - 10 million from war crimes alone and a further 10 million from famine in addition to the 3 - 4 million soldiers against china alone. They have never apologised for their atrocities and any attempt to do so by politicians is seen as dishonouring their ancestors normally causing them to rescind their own personal apology or be fired.

+Silver Lining
If it were not for the British Empire slavery would still exist and no doubt you would end up in Auschwitz. Stop acting like a communist fascist.
Silver you need to go do some research, Britain finally paid off its debt ending slavery in 2014, as far as slavery goes that was done by British merchants buying people who had already been enslaved by various tribes they didn't go out of their way to enslave people like the Arabs or Portuguese did. These slaves were then sold to the rich who in Britain treated them better than native white workers (at least here in Wales) this is because they wern't cheap so they were given food and clean water, clothes and housing and didn't perform very dangerous work. Compare that to natives at Merthyr who had unclean water, were paid very minimal sums of money (in some cases they received tokens instead of money), had to feed their entire familiy + in some cases house their entire family in a home measuring 4 x 7 feet.
Tokens could only be spent at their workplace which sold things at an overvalued price and of lesser quality.
Britain also set up the Africa Squadron who would go out destroying pirate/slaver ports and free slaves from slaver ships.
In 1807 the Slave trade act was passed and in 1833 the Slavery Abolition Act was passed. You should also know Britain was at war and yet still got itself into debt to use its influence to end slavery.
On the same coin you could argue that Japan were Japanese supremacists + raped and murdered people in Nanking and beheaded people for shits and giggles. It doesn't mean they aren't good at combat.

My sixteen year old father was safely transported in a convoy by two heavy cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy from Australia to Egypt in 1916 before embarking for the Western Front ..by then he had turned just 17. 75% of the 350000 Australian soldiers who went to fight in WW1 were escorted by the IJN. Why? The Anglo-Japanese Naval Agreement 1902 that's why. It should have been renewed in 1928, as the Japanese had wanted. Sadly, this never happened.

Japan's first treaty with a foreign power, on equal alliance terms, was in 1902 with England in the Anglo-Japanese alliance. It really helped solidify Japan's reputation as a power and it showed the world that Japan joined the world stage and is here to stay. This alliance helped improve the Japanese navy until it became 3rd largest in world by 1920 and also win the 1904-1905 war vs. Russia. The alliance soured during the Versailles peace round and eventually the two nations were on opposite sides in the second world war. Long may the friendship last, old vengeances never forgotten but never allowing them to tie us down in the name of progress.

This is a really good thing. Both the UK and Japan suffer from the same restriction of them being small Island power-houses. While the threats they face will be different, I feel some of the strategies, techniques, and technologies that work for one will work for the other. As neither can amass million personnel armies nor can they supply them for long, having shared and proven tactics for protection will be key for their survival, IMHO.
Not saying both nations need armed forces great enough to become invasive elements to their neighbors, but increasing their defenses against growing threats is not a bad thing.

The only thing I'm not certain of is Russia, it can honestly go both ways there are so many variables, whether they would stand with China or not in an actual War.
I still agree with Japan's initial agreement to stay out of conflict as it has ever only caused violence and stirred the pot in regards to the complexities of other governments and countries, however I think they are entitled to receive the proper training and to defend themselves if need be.
