I love the level of interaction in Villagers in this game. I was freaked out when two characters went to the wardrobe and one says "What to wear?" And the other responds "They all look good!" I was like OMG THEY CAME TO LIFE. HOW ARE THEY TALKING TO EACH OTHER? Then I saw the same dialogue again and saw the pattern, they also have different dialogues for places like the art gallery and so on. Makes it feel like you really are a town with them all 🥰, not so lonely.
I still need to build somewhere special on my Buildertopia, I'm making it traditional Japanese theme. I don't have the Hotto pack yet but that will add to the look. I'm recreating a map from an old ninja game to make a section of my Buildertopia a recreation of it! It's a pretty small area so it isn't like your amazing Hyrule build 😅 but it has taken me quite a few days now, I'm almost done. And then once I get the Hotto pack I will swap out some materials for the better suited ones, like the stone lanterns. Anyway, I really love this game.

Gotta say I never thought of using resident signs. That's a good way to force people to dress in specific clothes while also keeping others from changing at all. Thanks for the tip.

Last night I was randomly looking through the bulletin board in DQB2 and I discovered your Legend of Zelda Buildertopia. I actually hit like before I realized it was yours and I went, "Wait, I know that name!" Amazing job! It must have been a ton of work. I can't wait to see it when it's finished!

Just a heads up, armoire is pronounced Ar-mwah-or, not Armory. It's a French word. Great video!
Yeah I didn't know how to pronounce it. English words always have their own individual rules 😏 and thanks for clarifying :)
@@BenXC it's funny because in DQB1 the Armour is neaded for the armory, lol
Armoury is also the correct way of saying it in English.
It means the same thing. Both were used to refer to a place to store weapons and armour.
@@tannhasuervonhohenstein3728 umm no it's really not. Armoire comes from the French term Armarie which is a cabinet for storing tools/utensils.
Armory on the other hand comes through the old french term Arme through Amoier and then through Armoirie and is literally "a place for storing armaments"
Very different terms from very different origins. If you store weapons/armour (Armaments) in an Armoire you may be able to call it an Armory but they're definitely not the same thing.
Make a buff buff room by putting a name plate in a relaxation room and write on it Babs and go there at night

Handy tip to know about the button. Never actually used a changing room for my residents. I made one in one of my earliest playthroughs for Bab's room, I think, but never put anything in it because I personally like how unique Bab's outfit is and I didn't have a clear enough understanding of how it worked to start testing it on my villagers. Plus I knew I'd likely just ruin their look with poor outfit choices. A lot of villager outfits are actually quite well suited for them.
That being said, I do wish we could change their hair/head items. I don't even know if you can get a dancer with bunny ears from the Explorer's Shores at all. The few I've found so far on my recent playthrough didn't have any and with no way to change into it, it's sort of disappointing.

I believe it's completely random, although there are outfits which look different depending on the gender :)

Hey Ben, Congrats on your 10K subs. I have visited your island a couple of times and it's awesome. I actually built a subway rail system that connects the 3 areas on the IoA. But, I do have a suggestion for a video. The only problem I am having is selling things. I have an item shop, I have a merchant and some things to sell but nobody is buying. The sell 100 and 200 items are the only things I have left on the red tablet. I know I need to sell at least 50 items to unlock the drawer and the cupboard for the setup similar to yours. Any advice or make a video? Also, are you still going to do that barn video?

For items to sell there needs to be space behind the table for the merchant to stand.

Yes, turning the light off with no name plate works with everybody but it can take several day for everyone to reset :)

If I wanted to dress all my npcs, can I just make one changing room and swap their outfits one at a time?
i still have to make one myself. i want to test a few things with guards and armor/cloths as well as take a few of the outfits i cant make (babs, malroth, ect) and see if it unlocks away to get/craft more.

I got the same problem. I'm stuck at 11 🤷♀️ I already tried to "rebuild" the shop (aka remove the door and putting it back) and relocating the merchant guy, but I'm still not selling anything 🤔
Challenge complete today. You need the ero books (you get them if you place 50 normal book for the blueprint. Old Video from BenXC ;) And make sure everyone can buy something ^^

My Malroth got changed with out me knowing logged in to find him strolling around in a white tux yet the changing room was set to the crazy mushroom lady

Have a question. I have all rare fruits and vegetables except the pumpkin... Is there a specific way to have them?
But still I have a 30x30 pumpkin patch working every time with three killer machines and still nothing it's really weird

Your pumpkin field needs a different set up compared to the other crops. rare pumpkins take a space of 2x2 blocks, if they don't have the space they won't grow. Just visit my english island and take a look :)

I have a question about the game..why is it I make the same exact room, (in this instance a changing room), and for some reason or another one room becomes the one that you're building but yet the other one, regardless of being the same exact thing with the same exact stuff doesn't register as being the same type of room? Drives me bonkers cuz I want it to be the same on both sides but only one registers lol Thank u for ur time also I've seen/liked/favorited many of ur builds during the loading screens

@@BenXC You're welcome and thanx for responding but I figured it out evidently I had to put the light source so it was behind the changing table for it to register in that room which is quite weird but it's whatever...Yea man your builds are friggin' awesome..u have an amazing talent and a natural calling for building designing and interior decorating and planning like I find myself always trying to get ideas and/or inspiration from your builds/videos

I tried your suggestion with 6 different NPCs Babs included and none of them are changing into the Scandalous Swimsuits. 2 of the extras that you meet at the Material Islands(sounds better than Explorer's Shores), Babs, Anessa, Esther, Lulu. None of them are changing into them so I must be doing something wrong will making them into bedrooms change the effect see I've got my character sharing a room with Babs and I have beds in: Anessa's, Esther's, Lulu's and the two extras rooms.
Hmm what is your setup? So a changing room that does get recognized? Put a private room sign in there (make sure you don't have another private room sign for that same character somewhere else). Then put something in there and wait for thex next morning, after waking up or breakfast they should go there.
If this still doesn't work make sure to restart your console. Having a game open for too long (only putting it in sleep mode) will often mess wih the game.
@@BenXC I pretty much set it up standard but with the Private room sign it and it didn't work, once I added a washtub and hand towel thus turning it into a Spa changing room then they began to change their clothes.

@@BenXC Same here. I've almost gotten all 3 tablets tended to with my second game all that's left is making blocks of different types on the island. I think what that means is making lava pools, poison ponds etc.

Hey love your vids. I’m trying to do the unlimited seeds glitch. I have everything set up like in your vid. The mech will till the land but won’t go to chest and plant seed. I assigned him the small room also and he won’t go in it.
Is the room inside the towns boundaries?
I’m doing it behind the castle. I think I figured it out. I ended up digging a water source plus I planted a potato myself and once he harvested it and put it in the chest he started got the seed out and started planting it.
One thing I want to mention. I forgot to put another seed in the chest for him to get but he didn’t need it. He just keep planting seeds from that 1 seed. He didn’t need another one. Gonna see if he will do it on my real save. I was just testing your process to see if it would work on the Switch.

This is going to be a silly question but how do you build while walking backwards? When I do that my toon turns around instead of continue building.
You need to hold both buttons to look up and down at the same time :)

soo if it is random do i need to have toons of changing roms if i want the soldiers to have some armor but not the civilians? they dont take it in a bit more after class? thats going to be alot of work... still it's the only way to have some proper knights in the kingdom! :D
You can only build one changing room without a private room sign and put a handfull of armors in there, everyone will keep running to it and put on what you placed inside the wardrobe.
@@BenXC i understand, i had hoped that the soldiers or all the people that fight would take armor but the people that farm or tend to the shops wouldnt take it, they do dont they?
@@seltin1988 you could separate them by getting only the soldiers over to the cerulean steppe on Isle of Awakening and building the changing room there for example, so no farmers or other people would change into armors.

I am unable to stow ANYTHING in either the wardrobe or the armoire. I don't even have the option available to me to open/stow.
If you change someones clothes, will it change their 'job'? I want my killing machines to be the only ones doing any farming but don't want to have to fence off the farms. If I get noone wearing farmers gear will they leave everything alone?

For some reason Magrog the blacksmith won’t change no matter what I try. I want him to wear the leather armor but he just won’t put it on.
Some villagers can't change their outfit unfortunately (like the Miners, King etc.). Magrog is one of them.

Tried to make Malroth change into the suit but he wouldn't. I changed my gender to male and wait patiently for many days now haha. 🤣 Saw some other people done it but I don't know what I did wrong he wouldn't change. 😭

I made the changing room for the target but now everyone in my pyramid is in the wrong outfit and it's bugging me. I wish we could just equip a villager's clothes like we can with weapons.
Dousing the light with the pot works but my villagers just look at the cupboard with the thinking emote and then leave.

You learn how to craft it as the story progresses, if im not mistaken the second time you hit the bell it unlocks it.
