Another legend passes away. Will miss Ustad Rashid Khan’s singing.

The show looked like a clash of two different genres. Ustad Rashid should not have agreed to do the jugalbandi with Rahat. Rahat is good at what he is good at whereas Ustad Rashid is a pure Hindustani classical singer. What I loved to watch was that Ustad Rashid did not lose his composure due to Rahat’s vocal acrobatics. 😀

@@rahulgosavi9977 in every aspect. Rashid Khan's range is wider and note patterns more intricate and complex than his. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is great but Ushad Rashid Khan is better.

I was present at this concert.
The show began with Ustad Rashid Khan ji's traditional bandish and khayal singing.
He demonstrated unbelievable kharaj and taans.
The audience was disrespectful and started going out of the hall only to return for Rahat ji's 'disco' (for lack of a better word) qawwallis.
Both styles havw their charms and audiences but that doesn't give anyone the right to be disrespectful and that too to an artist of Rashid ji's stature.
Really disheartening to know
Both are masters in their respective fields. But ustad Rashid will always have an edge over Rahat sahab because he is an exemplary legend of classical singing, a true successor of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhim Sen Joshi.
I was the big fan of Rahat Fateh khan but after listening this jugalbandi, I came to conclusion that Rahat Fateh khan is nothing in front of ustad Rashid khan. Greatest , legend is Rashid Khan sahab we had in India

No one needs to compare the two of them. Ustad Rashid Khan is the master who has given the honour to Rahat Ali Khan to attend his class, and I’m sure they were competing with each other.

रामपुर सहसवान घराना और पटियाला घराने की गायकी ,दोनो गायकी में बहुत अंतर है मेरे मत से एक खरज और ठहराव की गायकी है दूसरी तारसप्तक और द्रुत तरह की गायकी है (जैसे उस्ताद मेहंदी हसन साब व उस्ताद नुसरत फतह अली खान साब)इसलिए वह आभामंडल (aura)बन नही पाया,दोनो उस्तादों को मेरा प्रणाम 😊🙏
Sur-Besura ka farq hai bas.. Patiala gharana has given gems to Hindustani Classical Gayaki.. Rahat was just crass in this performance.

Rashid Khan has shown his passions.
Ustad Rashid Khan is an Institution by himself. The mellowed, mellifluous voice is tinged with pathos and poetic dignity with the rendition of Ragas with poise and stillness. Tan Kartab is good but not at the cost of mellifluousness. Someone does this for cheap show off where the sweetness ends and pandemonium starts like juzz bands that never soothes the mind and chastens the ears. Music is not for riot making but for peace of mind and soul, which Ustad Rashid Khan can do. One can differentiate between cacophony and MUSICAL

@@sunnyrana707 Unke ghrane ne quwalli me phd kr rkhi thi and while listening I remember Ustad Nusrat fateh ali khan listen to his jugalbandi of 1 hour on youtube with classical tabla players then you would come to know the range of his gharana.

Ustaad Rashid khan earlier disappointed me singing with Talat Aziz and now with RFAK - I wish he could stay pure like Late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, JasrajJi and Shri Ajoy Chakravarty ! Just my feeling as a die hard fan of Ustad ji last thirty years. Jugalbandi with his peers in similar genre is welcome anyday !

This jugalbandi was such a bad idea, because both legends are master of different craft. This criticism would be quite opposite if Rashid Khan Sahab had to sing RFAK Sahab's songs. When Rashid Khan Sahab sang "Naina thag lein gy" he couldn't create the magic RFAK was able to create. But hats off to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who, despite knowing, sat with Rashid Khan Sahab and sang his songs.

What a sad jugalbandi. The saxophone is also a complete misfit. I heard Ustad Rashid Khan and Hariharan live and quite disliked it but this one is unbearable. But what can you do, probably this is what the audience wants these days. We just don't have quality ears in the audience anymore. There was a time people wanted to hear a 30 mins alap without any accompanying percussion or wanted to hear the intricacies of a raga sung on a vilambit taal. One needs to listen closely to appreciate that complexity. Who does that now. The quality audience is dying. We are living at a time when anyone who can just raise his voice to a high pitch is considered a singer with a strong classical foundation. Nothing against Rahat Fateh Ali he is a great Qawal but there is one hundred miles between the two genres of singing Khayal and Qawali and Ustad Rashid Khan is at a different level. Hear him sing with Pandit Bhimsen Joshi or with Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. Please listen patiently, give it some time and you will realize what true jugalbandi is.

Just shouting notes which doesn't even matches the frequencies the notes 'he' is shouting (not singing, please note) ... I guess the people who are so called 'liking' and 'justifying' the "fateh alis" has/had ever listened to "Bade Ghulam Ali" khan (in vocal) or for that matter "Bilyat Khan" (sitar) .. and I'm sure even the audience never liked it (I mean the kawal and his team)
