Personally, I like the retro 80s hatch look of this vs. the Kia EV6. That said Scotty best advice here is to wait for prices to come down. The point about commuting and charging is also important because if you can charge at home range and charging time only matters on road trips. Also, a point about price, I just saw a Jeep commercial, $60k+ for a Grand Cherokee and over $80k for a Wagoneer. Prices in general are insane, but people are still buying.

@@codezalo5773 I like the look of the I6 and it seems like they've made some advancements over the I5. I still prefer the crossover size. Miles per kilowatt hour vary a lot based on environment. Cold weather and EVs don't mix at all, but I'm down here in Texas. It only reaches the 30s and below for a few weeks out of the year tops. If I was back up in the mid-Atlantic where I'm from, I'd have some really rough mornings. However, there are more public fast chargers there than here. I have a 150 mile roundtrip drive to my office. For EVs, you need to put ceramic window tinting to help cut UV and IR rays into the car - this will help the AC from having to work so hard. This is especially true when the car has to sit outside not running for a while. The tinting does not have to be a dark tint, a 5% tint works as long as it is made to reduce UV and IR.

Ioniq5 AWD Limited owner here. My first EV and best car I've ever had. This vehicle is built on Hyundai's new from the ground up EGMP platform. It's an 800 volt system which is quite rare and unheard of for this price range. This means it can be charged extremely quickly. Not to mention the performance of the platform is capable of approximately 600 HP. My particular car has 320HP and 446LBs of torque which is good enough for 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. Some have hit it in as little as 4.5 seconds. Soon Hyundai will reveal the N version of this vehicle which will hit 0-60 in less than 3.5 seconds.

I have owned an EV for about 18 months now. No gas stations, rarely a public charger because I charge at home overnight. I can control the charging preferences from my phone. I have not spent a DIME on maintenance aside from a cabin air filter. Front brakes have 90% life left, rears 100% due to regen braking. A smaller sized, not too heavy city/suburb used EV is the way of the future. Deal with it.

I bought my 2017 Chevy Bolt 3 years ago for 22k. Best car I've ever owned. It's sitting on 60k miles with almost no battery degradation and I've NEVER had to take it in for maintenance. The only thing I've had to replace so far are the windshield wipers. Because of the regen the car has it doesn't use up the breaks like normal cars. It's also nice to charge in my apartment's garage for free and not spend a single dime to drive everyday.

Last year we paid $10k total for a 3year/36k mile lease, including taxes, registration etc., with no trade. If we buy it at lease end, it's $23k more. Ours has a rear wiper. We had a PHEV before this but in the winter it ran the gas motor so much so the heater would work it's was just a hybrid and the EV mode wasn't really EV mode.

I must admit, it is great car. However, I would not recommend it to no one.
I have bought one Ioniq5 on PCP on September 2021 and car was very good until wind screen crack. Since I have reported it to insurance on the beginning of June I had to wait until and of September because there was no windscreen in UK, and it was “back order”. Fortunately, I was able to drive it. But the real problems were ahead 😪😩. Just before Christmas 2022 on board charger got broken, car was taken to main dealer. I was told that they haven't got parts on shelf because it's back order and I must wait. After two months and two weeks I finally had message from the dealer that they will get the part next week and get the car fixed for me. I was very excited that I'm going to get my car back after two months and two weeks. I forgotten to mention but, in the meantime, they provided me with BMW series one petrol. From the same beginning I told them that I prefer electric cars, but they don't care. However, I was very patient, and I was looking forward to getting my car back. Unfortunately, when the onboard charger arrived at the dealer, they realise they need other parts, and those parts are also on backorder so now it looks like I might not have a car for 5 months.
After all that experience with the dealer and lack of the parts for the car they selling I decided to stay away from Hyundai I once and for all and to spread the word to other people not to make the same mistake and become the victim of this dealer. However, if you decided to buy one of those electric Hyundai's I wish you a lot of luck I hope nothing gets broken otherwise you might need to wait long time before you see your car again.

I actually think the ideal scenario for most families is an EV and a traditional (or PHEV) vehicle. 95% of the time is running errands in-town, like groceries, sports, dentists and doctors, shopping, etc. EVs handle that so easily, and you always have a full tank, and it's cheap.
Want to tow? Go roadtripping? Go off-roading or adventuring in non-urban areas? Take the gas vehicle.
Although, with Ioniq 5 being able to charge in under 20 minutes (assuming you have DCFC available nearby), even roadtripping is a reality. It's only really a pain if you live and/or are traveling to an area without infrastructure (yet.)

Yes, these cars are very hard to find, unavailable at most dealers........ or very long wait lists. However, you don't necessarily have to overpay. Not all dealers are adding an upcharge. It took a ton of research, phoning, emailing, and follow up, but I just rec'd my Limited AWD and I paid sticker price for it.

I'm not opposed to electric cars I just wish we would have let them integrate into society more gradually. Someone really needs to come out with a way to convert all these combustion engine cars into electric cars as well. I'm not big on global warming like those idiots bleeding our country are. But being responsible with our resources is practical and good. I would think that eventually we will get to the point where we are swapping out battery packs out of cars and pickups. What most people don't realize is once electric cars become mainstream. We're going to be taxed into Oblivion. Not only will there be a tax on electricity but you will be having to pay tax on every mile you drive. That Legislation has already been approved to some degree

According to a recent study, roughly 20% of EV owners in California turned their vehicles in and returned to gas, citing the difficulty of getting a full charge. Plus Californians were instructed last year to avoid charging during peak usage hours because the electric grid simply can't handle it. I don't think the country is switching to EVen masse anytime soon.
