    Environmental Friendliness: Honda has been working on reducing the environmental impact of its vehicles, so the SH125i may meet or exceed emission standards in various markets.

    Last year I had a back and forth on YT with a delivery rider. He spent his first year or so on a typical small wheel scooter. He drew up a list of features for the perfect scooter everything from big wheels to ABS and the Honda Sh he reckons is near perfect.

      Thats pretty much the way I see it Clanger, although I didn't want to be so bold and say it right out like that because people can get pedantic if I say things like that....but it really does all you want and need....put it this way I had 3 Hondas at the time...DAX, and the Hornet....myself and the cameraman who was featured in this video riding the SH both preferred riding this scooter than the other 2 bikes...that says it all really ....Thanks

      @@exeterrider He was doing interstellar like mileages getting on for 20k per year. You could tell by how he wrote he must have had a technical background. Seemed rude to ask how he ended up as delivery bloke. Though having watched some videos produced by a guy called Just Eats it does appear to be oddly rather stress free. So yes apparently the SH125 is perfect!

      I've now done over 45,000 miles on my 2021 SH125i. People that review this and compare it with a large motorcycle should only compare it with a scooter of similar size engine. I've had a couple of close calls, saved by the brakes and abs.
      I have the honda screen which changes riding altogether, it's as though it improves the weather conditions.
      I ride all year all weather, the screen helps keep rain off you and the wind.
      The only issue with the screen is it's made from rain glue, only thing that seems to help is old style turtle Wax, every few days.
      I can flat foot if I sit where you sat, that's not where you sit when you ride, your bottom just touches where the passenger seat starts, you would then have to move forward when you stop.
      I still think this is the best bike for deliveries, flat floor is a must, as is keyless for obvious reasons and the space under the seat is reasonable.
      I've had only one serious issue, my belt snapped after only 8300 miles when the interval is 16000 miles.
      I do not accept the dealers poor excuse and sadly unless I move away from the area I live, will not buy another new Honda, so could be my third and last new Honda.

      Just look what people in the unofficial „capital of scooters“ ride. If it‘s not a Honda SH125i, it‘s most likely a 150i or 350i. People often think, rome rides Vespa. Nope. It‘s Honda, specifically the SH. And for a reason. It‘s obviously the best best scooter for cities. ❤

      I chose a new Medley over the Honda sh125 just 'cos it had a bit more underseat storage. Big mistake. Worked ok for 2 months, then difficult starting. Engine cutting out while riding. Took it back to Dealer. (Only Piaggio dealers have the computer needed). He ordered a part from Piaggio. Waited 2 months for part to come from Italy. Wrong part. Still the same fault. Dealer tried telling me it was a different fault. Traded it in for a Honda sh125i. What a difference! Better machine. Can be worked on by any mc mechanic. Only Hondas for me from now on! Good to read you got 45,000 miles. What year is it? Did you do the servicing? Any mechanical problems? Is it kept in a garage? Would love to hear from you.

    Nice review again Exmouth !
    I really believe that 125cc is the perfect size for a scooter. Adequately powerful for use on fast roads, super nippy around town and not too much weight to deal with.
    This is a really useful little vehicle for the money. I like the normal sized wheels as well. Much better on bad roads and less twitchy handling. This one seems to have decent storage and if you have the top box for your helmet, the whole underseat area is up for grabs. Very practical. This one seems to have a good top speed for a 125 too.
    As a replacement for my Malaguti 50 I could be tempted. I need to get rich first though 😂

    Steve, the 350 version has the same engine as in adv-350 that you have tried. Also the engine is in the Forza 350 too. The old version SH300 is very very popular in my city on the other side of Europe, with the size of Glasgow or a bit bigger. There are 100s of this things around, mixed with Vespa gts 300 and some Yamahas x-city 250. The two main type of scooters, the flat floor ones like the SH and the maxi scooters like the adv350 with the ark on flor are in competition for popularity. But I believe that for more urban environment the flat floor, larger thinner wheels like the SH is better but for more long commuting or touring outside the cities, the maxi scooters are better. The old SH models where with tank under the seat and that take from the under seat storage. I am glad that they move it in the floor. Other manufactures have done that years earlier for their alternative models to the SH. Excellent scooter review. Kudos, Steve.. I really have my eye on the SH350 and ADV-350 and one of them is maybe my next bike.. Also the Sym Joyride 300 is very very good too and cheaper. Sorry for my long babbling, I just love this things in all their variants and sizes.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  10 месяцев назад

      Babble all you want Stefan, always good to know your thoughts. Yes those bigger wheels make such a difference to smooth over the bumps and make it a nicer ride over all...at higher speeds they come into their own. There are many good scooters on the market but also many people still can't make the jump. Have a good week : )

    This is an awsome review of this scooter. The top box makes the pillian feel rather secure. To be fair I am a bit light at a little over 10.5 stone.
    The bike feels more comfortable the more I carry.
    I have heated grips on mine, so I turn off stop start in the winter, it will stop working anyway as the battery loses power.
    You did a review of the voge and said you were off roading on country lanes lol.
    I've delivered to places like this in pitch black. The lights are amazing, only down side is, you can't see what is too your side, I actually drove into a large pot hole due to this and saved by the large wheels.
    How large was the hole, no idea, but I was thrown up a good foot out of the seat.

The Vision is only 110cc and the seat is 78.5cm but the weight is only 100kg. I loved my 3 x SH125i machines. I also owned a SH300i, which was excellent though noticeably heavier than the 125. Really frustrating Honda doesnt offer the SH150i here which has the benefit of the light weight of the 125 with useful extra horsepower. That 68mph is more like 60mph GPS speed. I'd image the SH150 would add at least another 5mph which would be very useful on the open road.

    This is the most thorough review you have ever done on any machine, Thank you. About the top speed: at one point you got 73 mph on the speedo, but of course this will be quite optimistic. The GPS speed will be more like 63-65mph tops. The other downside is that the SH doesn't have much room under the seat, compared for example to the Piaggio Medley which can fit TWO full face helmets. The Medley also has a front compartment and USB port there, whereas Honda rather stupidly put the charging port underneath the seat instead of near the dash, and it now has no locker at the front which I think is a really poor oversight considering its cost.

    There is something to be said for small engine motorcycles/scooters in metro areas. Often times there's no point being sat there on a 600cc when you can't take advantage of the power. You want a narrow, responsive, nippy little thing instead. 125's seem to offer just the right amount of power with the right amount of agility to deal with stop start traffic. My ideal bike starts off as a sports tourer and gets smaller the closer to the centre of town I get!
    I don't like the engine cut-off/auto start as it ruins the point of the bike. I know it's only a second or so, but if you have the bike for getting through city traffic, that extra second could be useful and is often the one you need.
    Nice looking scooter though and only a few hundred more expensive than a more local motorcycle brand that specialises in small engined motors.

    Scooters are great. I agree. I am a scooter convert. I enjoy riding my Aerox as much as my two bikes. Can't wait to replace my KTM 390 Duke with the ADV 350. One thing I've noticed: 125cc scooters for the European market tend to have bigger wheels. In the Asian market, smaller scooters tend to be 150/155/160cc. The extra capacity makes such a difference. There is one smaller capacity scooter: Honda Scoopy 110, actualy 108cc.
    Great review. I liked Toby's input, too. Good little scooter let down by its looks. I am going to look up reviews for the SH150, as I don't think it is the same scooter as the Forza 350 which we have in Thailand, despite saying it was the same in my comments on another video. Nick J

      Hi Nick, the scooby here is known as a Honda Vision. I'd like to try one as I hear good things about them. I have ridden 150s and it makes such a difference. Yes the looks are subjective, perhaps if they changed the styling a bit it may open up the door a bit, I think its practicability over style for an change though....it all works very well. I live in Thailand have a few motorbikes including some scooters (Honda Click 160 and Honda Scoopy 110).

    Great review of this super bike. I think the SH125i is the best 125 that Honda makes. It has a great build quality and has everything you want out of a commuter. This bike really hits a sweet spot for city use and beyond. I've had two SH300i and they were also good but were not great when you get up to the higher speeds that they are capable of. I did not feel that confident when doing motorway speeds, you are too upright and the bikes stability is a bit questionable. I now ride a Forza 350 and that handles well at speed. So in my opinion the SH125i would be my pick of the 125's and the Forza 350 of the Honda range of 350's.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  10 месяцев назад +1

      thats intresting to know about faster speeds on the 300 or 350, I can see that being the case...I rode the Forza 300 and that was fantastic at motorway speeds, really nice....I would agree and have thought the same thing that I think on paper this 125 is the best 125 Honda make make for sure, but didn't want to say that on camera : )

    • @Rick-ve5lx

    • @pompey174
      @pompey174 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@Rick-ve5lx My later 300 had a standard Honda screen that really caught the wind at motorway speeds, so I changed it for an aftermarket short screen which was far better. The Forza is far more stable at speed and you can adjust the screen height on the fly (electronically) which is brilliant.

    • @geoff6942
      @geoff6942 9 месяцев назад

      Good points Pompey. I have the SH350, which although visually similar, actually has quite a few differences, apart from the engine.
      I came to the same conclusion as you about the high speed handling of the sh350 vs. the Forza 350. I did have a tall screen fitted to the SH, which may have affected this. Honda engineers would have put the Forza in a wind tunnel to maximise aerodynamics (screen/fairing), I guess.
      Based on my SH experience, the 125 would be a good buy. If your licence allows it, go for the 350.

Now there's loads more on the market whilst some of ones which have been advertised for 8-9 months are still there! Nice scooter not for me as I live in the country and ride two up a lot of the time, the 350 might be a better bet. As to the stop/start, not a fan switch it off on the car most of the time, starter motors only have so many cycles and for the amount of petrol you save especially on a little scooter like this I’d rather just keep it running rather than continually having to restart the engine.

Now (2024) a new PCX125 is £1,000(!!!) whereas a new SH125 is £250 fully-comp. Unbelievable, particularly when I can insure a CBR650F for £89. Not sure why.... maybe all the couriers are wrecking their PCXs hence the crazy premiums.

      I’ve actually bought mine for bimbling about on and I can’t help but smile like a Cheshire Cat when riding it, I mean for just over £5k what more do you really need, you could travel the world one of these with ease. 85 to 90 mph top speed and roughly 80 to 85 mpg figures, just superb 👌
