Thanks for watching and watching and watching and watching.......... You know I have other snow blowing videos if you are looking for a slight change of scenery!
I'm getting my snow blower today. I have a plow, but ran out of space to put the snow earlier this year. Based on your video, I think I made a better decision. Thanks for posting. The big difference between your place and mine is my driveway a the worst hill ever: steep and no sun!
That machine and it's accessories have impressed me so much that I will be adding to my stable of goodies. Thank you, sir, for the convincing video. Cheers!
Derrick - The answer to your question whether or not the X748 (X700 series) comes with a 3PH is that it is an option that can be installed by yourself or have your dealer install it.
Are you plowing on asphalt or gravel there? Also do you have the blower just lowered down to a specific high with the hydrostatic lever or is it on FLOAT. ?
lightningsmokerXx Yes I would still used float but I would have the skid shoes down a bit at first so that the lower cutting edge of the blower is a bit higher. When the ground is totally frozen and you have a bit of a packed base of snow on your driveway, you could then raise the skid shoes which would then lower your cutting edge so that your blower could clean down to that packed base.
So in 10 minutes & 5 passes to clear this drive way. I hope your getting at least $50 for a driveway this size. In 2014-2015 Winter we received 80+ inches of snow in Conn. Our friend runs a X748 with the 47 inch BUT no cab. Cost was about $7k for the tractor & maybe another $4K for the blower. He runs the whole neighborhood with 4 streets parallel. Approx 200 homes in a 1.25 mile radius. He plows for 4-5 hrs gets $35-$70 per driveway. Carl in Conn.
Carl Slicer I certainly do get paid for cleaning his driveway. Your friend is definitely making enough with 200 driveways to clean to afford a cab! LOL
Carl Slicer Instantly! The fun and therapeutic enjoyment I get out of using my equipment makes it all worth-while and compensation is really secondary. I clear 2 other driveways besides my own, so it would take a while to pay back the initial cost of the equipment. Plus I use my tractor for lots of other things in the other 3 seasons of the year.
Why do you mention 200 homes? It would take 50 hours at 15/min. per house to do 200. I assume you mean that by "running the whole neighborhood for 4-5 hours" means more like 16-20 homes. Plus that sounds like a lot of money to pay someone per snowfall. That must be a pretty nice neighborhood.
My brother and I purchased a D155 never once thinking about anything but the lawn. Now he has a snowblower on his this year and it slips a lot even with weight. I probably could have sprung for an X758 and had a better yard machine.
Thanks for watching! Yes blowing snow in this tractor and setup is definitely fun now. I've definitely my share of snow blowing in my face from few previous tractors and blowers.
I have a X300 that doesn't have traction on our slightly sloped driveway if it is icy. Thinking about upgrading to a X700 series with 4WD. Question about the cab enclosure. Do you have any problems with the windows fogging up?
Thanks for watching. Since I have a heater in the cab I find that the cab rarely fogs up. I do wish that the heater outlet was a little closer to the windshield though, so that it would clear a little faster.
I've a 72" blower on a Massey with a front bucket and in conditions like this a unit that size with it's easy maneuvering and ergonomics you would crush a large machine! Nice and efficient! Is that a 30 hp?
+Bob Smith I previously had a larger CUT and 60" rear blower and the setup that I have now is so much more maneuverable and easy to use that it literally takes me 1/3 less time to do the same job. The tractor has a 24hp diesel and hydrostatic drive.
Thanks GunninGamerz for your comment. I guess the best way to answer your cost question is for you to visit the John Deere homepage and select the "Build your Own" link. That should give you the current pricing for these John Deere X700 series tractors and associated equipment.
I've got a question. I'm a little confused on whether or not the x748 comes with a 3 point hitch or not. I have seen them both with or without 3 point hitches. Is it something you added or is it something you can buy from the dealership?
Thanks for sharing your video. I'm ordering my x738 this summer. Do you keep your Curtis Cab on all year or do you remove it in the summer and spring? I wasn't sure if it was removable easily to moe in the summer. Thx!
Kyle Peace Thanks for watching. I do keep my cab on all year round but I remove the doors for the summer. Most people that do have these cabs do take their cabs off. There's a few ways to do it but most have some sort of block and tackle or hoist arrangement in their garage. After removing a few bolts they lift it straight up and then drive the tractor out from under it.
Thanks for watching and your query. It's hard to say how much the package in the video cost because, but I bought my X748SE new with 3PH & rear PTO, Curtis hard cab with heater, & wiper, 54" blower, Quick Hitch, 45 loader, 8 suitcase weights, 60" 7 Iron mower, and front dethatcher as a package deal. I paid around 20K which included taxes back in 2012.
+1966roadking Thanks for watching. I use a simple tool to temporally override the RIO. This video of mine should explain what I did --> ruclips.net/video/3_MT0GsA3B0/видео.html
Hi, I am thinking about getting a d110 and just a plow. I noticed how durable your snow cabin was and ld like to know where you got and how much it was, thanks
Thanks for watching. The hard sided cab is from John Deere and is made for their larger garden tractors by Curtis Industries. With heater and windshield wiper options, it was well over 3 grand.
Thanks for your comment. No, I don't use chains on my tractor. The HDAP tires have really good traction and the tractor is AWD which helps. The weight of the cab helps out too.
+madogblue My setup should handle any snow that Mother Nature throws my way. I have another video that you can view showing it blowing 12" to 14" of packed snow. It can be found here -> ruclips.net/video/e0y2vuWz-wQ/видео.html
I've been watching and re-watching this video for the past 16 hours
Thanks for watching and watching and watching and watching.......... You know I have other snow blowing videos if you are looking for a slight change of scenery!
Excellent. Impressive throw...10 feet. The X748 is the answer to heavy snow. Great demonstration.
Thanks for watching and yo.ur comment. The X748 is an excellent machine and the diesel can really dig down to provide the power when needed.

Oh man I so want one! This literally took 10 min!!! I'm amazed
Thanks for watching! I'm still amazed at what these machines can do!

Mickey - Thanks for the comment!. That tractor and combo of implements STILL impresses me.

lightningsmokerXx
Thanks for watching! In the video I'm blowing an asphalt driveway and I have the front hydraulics in float mode.
X748SE
So if you had to go on Gravel, do you think you'd want to use float. I just got a blower and i have to mix between Asphalt, Gravel and grass.
lightningsmokerXx

That doesn't look to complicated and isn't breaking any rules! Now off to my parents to borrow a clothespin.. Thanks Mr RLowe.. Great videos too!
I got 3 of these with blowers and love them!
Thanks for watching. Three X748s with blowers eh. Hmm 0 must be tough to decide which one to use! BTW - I love my X748 too!
Good machine....Good work....Congratulations from Brasil.
+RPSimoes Thanks for watching! Nice to see comments from other countries from all around the world.
Nice set up and a nice job.
Thanks and THANKS for watching Rob!
Impressive work

Thanks for watching. With an X758 you DEFINITELY would have a better yard machine. These AWD tractors are awesome.
I know thats technically work but it looks like fun. Nice video
Thanks for watching! Yes blowing snow in this tractor and setup is definitely fun now. I've definitely my share of snow blowing in my face from few previous tractors and blowers.

Very fast unit.
I can’t wait for snowblowing lol with my beast!!
I'm still looking forward for some more videos of your X730 in action!
that thing works very nice i like it
+dave piercy Thanks for watching! I somehow missed responding to your comment!
Do you think the blower will work well on a gravel drive way?
Absolutely, Many people use these blowers on gravel driveways. You will need to adjust the skid shoes so that the blower is a bit higher though.
X748SE Thats great, thanks!
just curious what does a set up like that run these days? I love those rear tires!
Thanks GunninGamerz for your comment. I guess the best way to answer your cost question is for you to visit the John Deere homepage and select the "Build your Own" link. That should give you the current pricing for these John Deere X700 series tractors and associated equipment.

I think it is an add on.
700 series it is an add on. By the time you add a 3 point hitch to a 700 series you might as well buy the 1000 series that has it automatically.
I have a 1026r and 3-x748's one of the 748's has a pto and 3 point hitch it works great for my 4 foot 3pt tiller!

This thing work so fast !
Thanks for watching. Yes it is about twice as fast as my previous tractor with a larger rear mounted blower.
Oh Nice :D Np ^^

Thanks for your comment. No, I don't use chains on my tractor. The HDAP tires have really good traction and the tractor is AWD which helps. The weight of the cab helps out too.
Is the 748 shaft driven
Thanks for watching. Yes the X748 is shaft driven and so is the snowblower.
@@X748SE it probably wouldn't fit my 420 deere 1990
The 54” blower may fit but your 420 may be a bit underpowered for it. A 47” blower would be a better fit.
Heated cab?
Thanks for watching and you bet that cab is heated. Make blowing snow so much more enjoyable.
nice. :) when will summer come back...lol :)
Is that a mid pto?
+Bob Smith Thanks for watching! Yes the tractor has a mid PTO.
+X748SE Check my earlier post
Super!
Thanks! Ed
How does it handle big storms with like 2 feet of snow?
+madogblue My setup should handle any snow that Mother Nature throws my way. I have another video that you can view showing it blowing 12" to 14" of packed snow. It can be found here -> ruclips.net/video/e0y2vuWz-wQ/видео.html
i have a Deere snow blower that blows packed ice
Thanks for watching!
