If you aren't deeply appalled, furious, and saddened by the conditions these people are suffering in actual concentration camps, then you have no humanity. Do whatever you can to protest/stop this: it is our moral duty!
Too many dragged out jokes about these poor kids, I didn't find this funny at all. The image of the photo with dead dad and little daughter in the water is in my head. I really think something should be done about the Monster in the USA.

That wasn't the original intent of the SoL. Or of the French. The story behind it and its famous inscription (the poem "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus) is complicated. I encourage you to look into the histories of the statue and the poem in depth. Suffice to say that the SoL, being a gift from the people of France (paid for by public donations by the French people), was in great part intended to inspire the French people (then living under a repressive monarchy), to call for their own democracy; nothing about immigration actually from the French end of it. Pick up Ken Burns' dvd on the Statue of Liberty. Very informative and eye-opening.
2019 in the US, literal concentration camps with people/children actually dying, in a country that once, not so long ago, swore "never again" and backed that up by joining with other nations to form strong international protections against human rights abuses. What a dismal level the US has sunk to.

There's also the fact that since the US is part of the UN Security Council, they can veto any case against them in the International Court of Justice, and they can veto many things going through the UN. In short, members of the Security Council are close to immune in a UN context, since they can just veto anything that would be bad for them.

Here's was is sad: there are reports that people are driving to the detention centers to donate soap, toothpaste, and other hygiene necessities. The center guards and administrators won't allow the items in.

I doubt that it is any of the pro-lifers delivering those supplies! I heard that the people running the detention centers told the people that they already have enough of those supplies. Damn. Then why aren't they distributing them to the kids?

I don't even think he knows what an exit strategy is in a diplomatic sense. He's taking the words on face value thinking exit strategy means a plan for what happens if US lose the war... which is still very much needed in any military operation if you ask any competent commander. An exit strategy is a plan to leave the current situation either after a predetermined goal has been achieved or to mitigate possible future damage.

No. The US withdrew from the Rome Statute so no US citizen can be tried at the Hague. But even if that weren't the case, it would never happen because the only the home country of the violator or a security council member can charge someone; so the US has veto power over it. We would need a president to resign the treaty then convince the security council member nations to go along with it.

Frankly, from an outside perspective the US is a country build on ideals it constantly failed to live up to. However, the current US administration is actively spitting on those ideals and seems to consider them offensive.
The United States, as in, the original former British colonies, were never "built on ideals". The Founding Fathers had lofty goals, but they were part of a small intellectual and economic elite raised on the ideals of the Enlightenment. But the United States of America were built on the idea of "hey, a whole continent full of free land and resources (because we eradicated most of its native population) free for the taking, where large parts of the land out west have no working law enforcement and people can grab what they can".
No one was fooled by all these "ideals" America keeps projecting. Just ask the slaves and the Native Americans.
