Everyone loves simple rules of thumb, so this is what I concluded from my analysis and experiments (engineer who loves baseball). Every extra inch of bat length OR every extra ounce of bat weight increases the “swing weight” by about 10%. For example, a youth bat that’s 33” and 23 oz has 20% more “swing weight” than a bat that’s 32” and 22 oz and has nearly 40% more “swing weight” than a 31” and 21 oz bat. So another simple way to do this overload, underload method, is to simply go up an inch and an oz, and then go down an inch and and oz, above and below your nominal bat size.
Yea I pitched from little league to highschool and started to play travel baseball at age 13 and played for coaches that played pro or college. Now I know this has nothing to do with pitching but I didn't start to lift weights until I was a senior in highschool. Because I was always told not to get too bulky because it could effect your velocity or something along those lines. Now I was always told to build up your arm strength and so I took up bowling to build up arm strength. Then I started to get pretty good at bowling also but that's just what athletes do they are good in just about everything that they do
First off. Do you know how many ways exist to increase the speed you move the bat? If you dont know that answer youre really dont know that xactly what youre saying. How many ways are there?. And which are they?
Excellent tip Matt, definitely going to work with my son on bat speed drills . Thank you for taking your time

Ty
But is he talking about 20% of swing weight or 20% of... Actual weight?
Love this! My coaches made us do this as kids. we used to have a rebar bat to hit flips/toss with 😂
would a camwood bat be good? they are heavier than 20%. i swing a 32/29 and my camwood is 32/44.
Do you have a video on how you made the overload bat?
Even though it’s a little heavier than 20% would a pro velocity bat work for the overload
This may be a dumb question but how do you determine the amount of pennies you tape on to the bat to make it 20% heavier? Do you weigh the bat?
Yes we already know the weight of the bat and then figure out what 20% increase would be, then add the proper amount of Pennys
@@AntonelliBaseball - weigh the bat on a postal scale.
Yes I do 0:00
I can finally hit home runs tysm
Is there a reason you choose to do overload first? I usually hear it the other way around though I assume it doesn't really matter, just curious.
I always did heavy first

This definitely could work for me but ain’t no way I’m spending 500 bucs just for a hitting drill
the weighted balls of swinging.
I just watched your vidja about the KID, I grew up with “See the ball hit the ball”. Not everyone has hands like the KID!
Three times a week
80 swings with rests in 5 minutes?
@@EdwardCurrent fine 10 minutes 😂
