Toe vs heel is a key distinction as you said

Great stuff. My son's All-Star coach kept telling my son to get his foot down early last summer, but I think he wanted him to time things up better. Just have to use better words and communicate what you want like this video. I watch all your stuff and use most of it at home with my kids.

Excellent explanation! My son is currently being told by his travel coaches to "get his foot down early". He's struggling with that concept, and I don't like what its doing to his swing and confidence... I've been trying to tell him to focus on loading early. This video is exactly what I was looking for! Long time subscriber here, your videos alway are extremely helpful. Thanks man!

To be fair on breaking balls your foot is always going to get down early if you are loading for the fastball, the key is keeping the bat back and hitting from a good launch position

I always noticed this with David Wright as well, toe was down and heel facing the pitcher as he loaded.
Started teaching my daughter how to hit a couple months ago, she's never done any softball activity so everything is new to her. I'm liking how a lot of what you're saying in videos is stuff I'm telling her, but with little differences that help.

An important aspect is that you don't want to load and land in a rushed fashion. Rushed load and land will often result in an inability to adjust the weightshift, thus having a small window for succesful contact.

Jim Edmonds comes to mind with toe to heel. He was spread out and didn't even stride. He just lifted heel, and put it down.

Juan Soto's stance is one to talk about as a "works for him" kinda swing with his front foot turned.

Very informative, thank you. Subscribed and liked, but may I suggest you wear a different color training suit than the hitter's backdrop in videos.

Foot down early is the exaggeration to on time. If Barry bonds says get it down early, and Manny Ram, and many other great hitters in interviews.. I think it’s probably right. But everyone got their own opinion. Getting the foot down has to happen before anything good can happen.

Yea this type of coaching is pretty much for advanced players and not little league baseball because they don't know what your talking about. But I was always taught to get the front foot down on time and it also depends on how hard the pitcher is throwing. I mean if the pitcher is throwing really hard then even on the on deck circle you should be getting that front foot down quicker and not early but again it's all about timing

@@iKegDetail2 bump! Antonelli's Barrell and hand movement seems so much more natural(I like Rich's philosophy, he's just a hard body/example to watch 🤣)...it's makes sense that a former pro like Matt here has a movement that's much more natural(and you explain things like a pro presenter, Matt!)
