  • The West Highland White Terrier.
Otherwise affectionately known as the Westie. He’s into everything and likes to keep himself busy exploring, getting up to mischief and demanding that you join him. He’s a very happy little man and uncharacteristically friendly for a terrier. Unfortunately, if you’re a small animal you don’t get to see this side of him.
He’s an independent dog, and not surprisingly quite stubborn because of it. He tends to bark a bit, maybe a little too much at times, but it’s just his excitement overflowing as he plans his next digging session in your prize vegetable patch.
Grooming is quite important for these little dogs. He’ll want to look his best, and you can help by combing his wiry coat at least three times a week. His coat will also need shaping, this is best done every three months by clipping him.
Interesting facts: Historically his short legs helped him turn around in shallow holes that he’d chased some poor creature down, and his fairly long tail meant he could be pulled out of these holes when he got properly stuck!
The Westie. A mischievous marvel for those after a truly fun little friend.
