Ive been a woodworker over 30 years and never thought of using any tool to get the job done is not woodworking...from hand tools to CNC. What ever gets the job done.
I agree, I don’t care how people make as long as they create!
@@TwoMooseDesign na man, its chipped stones and bones only, everything else is cheating!
Lol. I guess it's just a mindset or perhaps it's only perspective. Either way. A tool is a tool is a tool. The only one that really matters is seated between our ears. The "hate" isn't exclusive to any one industry or discipline. It sure seems to be propagating exponentially doesn't it?
Sorry. Rant over.

How is this not wood working lol he’s working with wood!!!! It’s like telling a farmer he isn’t farming because he’s using a tractor.
yeah but he should use a horse to plow the field hahah People just like to be mean to make them feel better about their lack of tools and skills. Have a great day!
“I usually know what’s best and here we are” 😂
hahah she always hits me with the "seeeeee i told you"
Not having the doors evenly spaced in the middle would eat at me. I would put a tiny piece of wood in the top groove at the mid point so both doors would stop evenly.
I'm going to 3d print a little tab or add some magnets so it catchs in the middle every time. Drives me nuts too haha
That's just terrible! I'd totally give you $20 for it... okay, okay. $50!!! :) Seriously though, holy schmolies that is fantastic!!!
$51 final offer 😆
I don’t think there is anything wrong with using a CNC for wood working!! However… I feel that people of a certain age and older, who grew up seeing fine wood working, and recognized how hard what we were seeing happened to be. This was due to us understanding how they had to go about crafting what they made.
It’s why we marvel at someone that swims the English Channel, despite the fact that you can easily fly or sail over. Or why we think Usain Bolt is amazing, but cars are effortlessly much faster. It’s the process that makes it impressive.

THanks for watching!
That is aaaamazing. The amount of effort and detail is unbelievable. I wish I had a portion of the skill and tools needed for this. Knowing the color of the walnut when it is finished, I would have preferred a similar color backing cloth to make the openings a little more camouflaged. I find it hard to critique something I could never dream of doing. You and Jess both amaze me. Keep it up
Oh no I agree most people go with like a tan cloth which is why i went black. Honstly didnt even think of like a brown! Thanks for watching i appreciate it!
Thanks for watching everyone! Plans should be available early next week for those who are interested.
You nead to try Johnny Walker blue Label this is a great Whiskey 😋
Excelente

Now a challenge how do you make your corners seamless? Another learning experience? I imagine that would be more difficult but satisfying to build also.
5:40 --Ahaaa! Someone else makes funny faces when drinking bourbon and stuff.
😆 happens to the best of us
Beautiful!
Good whiskey: Angel's Envy, Uncle Nearest and Whistle Pig. Great Scotch: Balvenie (Speyside), Talisker (Highland), Lagavulin (Islay)
Thanks! And thanks I’ll add them to my list of ones to look for
It's obviously woodworking, because mistakes were made. My favorite bourbon is Angels Envy. Much smoother than a whiskey. - Chris
Thanks for watching and the recommendation! I had multiple people recommend that one on Instagram i'll try and find it!
Who cares if someone says it isn't woodworking. It's damn cool!
hahah I agree! Call me a maker for all I care i just love creating
.. Muchas gracias por enseñar... por Años tenía dudas sí, el ensamble de las piezas era con una tela textil.
Eres un Genio en tus creación. //Greeting from La Patagonia 🇨🇱
This came out SO good!!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Man you really killed this one! Creating is creating, anyone throwing hate on the CNC aspect of this build has other stuff they need to work through. Great job, the final result is elegant.
Thanks! I appreciate it! And yeah I don’t mind let them hate, those people never have an impressive list of things they have personally made
That is beautiful. I like St Augustine Distillarhy bourbon finished in their Sherry barrels or Buffalo Trace.
Thank you! I like buffalo trace its just hard to find around here, I'll definatly see if i can find the st augustine!
This is beautiful! As for whiskey and bourbon, get your hands on some TX of each. Both are made in Texas, but you can sometimes get them further out.
I'll defiantly be on the look out! Thanks for watching and the recommendations
Looks like woodworking to me brother. 🤣 Beautiful work. Cheers, from Chesbrough Cabinetry
Wood got worked 😆 thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
Dude, honestly, this is one of the prettiest pieces I have ever seen. Wicked cool - wicked
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Really awesome build 👏 I could LEDs potentially looking nice. And for whiskey, my go to is Jameson.
I thought about making lights turn on when it opened but I didn’t know how to do it 😆
That is gorgeous!! I love the look of tambour doors. Watching them open and close is calming
I’ve probably opened and closed them a million times 😆
That is so awesome! Jim Beam Black is my go-to for taste and price. And others as well.
Thanks! I’ll check it out! Yeah I’m pretty cheap I’m not ready to buy some of them $60+ bottles yet haha
Awesome build!! And screw the CNC haters. My foreman is on order and it can’t get here fast enough.
You will loveeeee it! I dont care I just like to razzle them haha making is making to me idc how it gets done as long as its cool in the end
It's wood...you worked it. It counts and it's a really great piece 👍👏
Now...add a remote controlled electric motor to open and close that beautiful cabinet...with some soft LED lighting inside that comes on when opened... that would be friggin awesome!
Ask me for more useless tips...I'm great at spending other people's time and money! 😁🤣
That would be pretty slick! I need to up my electronics game 😆
Can you make a playlist showing your woodworking? Regardless what tool you use, id love to see it
Absolutely! Thanks for watching
Incredible cabinet! Really love the combination of roll-top doors and CNC texturing. I love my CNC, it's a different skill than traditional woodworking but, to me, it's so much more fun.
Thanks I appreciate it! It was a blast to make
Walnut for the French cleat, no expense spared 😅
yeahhh I definatly should of used something cheaper like cherry but it had alot of sap wood in it so ehhh gotta use it somewhere haha. Thanks for watching!
@@TwoMooseDesignHonestly I respect it. It'll never be seen, but you'll never be accused of "cutting corners" to save a buck. Even though cheaper wood is perfectly functional, using the same species is just that extra touch of perceived quality imo. The next guy who takes it down will say, "wow, this guy went all out" lol
Even if the next guy is you!
Thank you for acknowledging those of us who consider CnCs cheating. Still a great cabinet but too small for a whiskey enthusiast. Gotta hold at least 15 bottles
My collection isn’t that big 😆
Turned out awesome
Thank you!!
Thank you for your journey to building such a beautiful piece of art woodwork.
The CnC machine with the right tools I imagine could get quite intricate as it could be used with a multiple axis machine but it would probably require one that would have a AI program in the software to execute the more complex designs, but I can see the unlimited possibilities with what you have achieved on the small scale. Great job!!!
Love your woodworking techniques. Very nice cabinet. Watch your channel all the time
Thank you I appreciate it 🙏🏼
The Caveman thing is so true. I work in electronics and the folks who refuse to use modern stuff or learn modern stuff, when we work in tech, is very frustrating.
Yeah I never understood, at least try it. If you don’t like it then great, use what works best for you.
I’m in the tech field and have probably the biggest home network in the state of Arkansas. But I also appreciate old tech and old ways too. I think there’s always a good balance. Sometime new tools get the job done so much better and sometimes it’s fun to use an old technique because it’s fun to learn
Awesome work! I think a small stopper at the center of the tambour track to keep the carved pattern centered would be a nice detail.
Absolutely, it bugs me 😆 i need to add a stopper or some like magnet catches
I was thinking the same thing...
Great job looks super. I’m sure the cabinet is even gonna be more interesting.
Thanks for watching! I'm excited to make the cabinet. I need to do it soon this one looks weird with nothing under it haha
Well... now I need a drink!! Beautiful work!! Now, who do I know that can build me one..or...😂🤷🏽♂️👍
haha you've earned it
A light strip inside behind bottles would probably make them stand out.
Brilliant work. Beautiful style, excellent video. New Subscription earned, and liked.
Thank you! I appreciate it
Beautiful and awesome job Jef.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Dude, that's mighty beauiful.👍❤️
Thank you!
Looks awesome! Great job man!!
Thank you!!
That is a beautiful liquor cabinet! Nice job!
I like Basil Hayden, but there’s one from Denver called Stranahan’s that’s pretty good - just not as broadly distributed. I did the whiskey thing a few years ago, but now I’m in my “Gin Journey” 😂. I find gin to be more of an ‘anytime drink’ where whiskey feels like a late night, special occasion drink.
Interesting, I dont believe ive ever tried it! I maybe should wait becasue im afraid ill like it and start collecting those as well haha. Thanks for watching!
Ol’ Smokey amaretto whiskey. My favorite. Straight with an ice cube
I’ve had a few of the ol’ Smokey’s! I haven’t had that one. It’s easy to find I’ll definitely grab one
Meglehetősen ronda ez a szekrény, bár a csajhoz képest remek.
The reason ‘real’ woodworkers (such as myself) don’t like CNC is because it kinda pulls the ‘artistry’ out of it if that makes sense. A lot of my work gains most of its character from mistakes and quirks that come with hand work.
I also hear a lot of words about “machine and software costs gate keeping people”, but I would be lying if I said I haven’t spent a table saw’s worth on chisels and rasps.
And as for my personal opinion on the piece, it’s nice to see a tambour that isn’t just flat wood, like that one pattern plywood guy, but circles don’t cut my fancy.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Where to buy that cool whiskey cabinet??🥰🥰
Great job, personally I think the design is a bit too '70's' looking for my taste, but as long as you like it.
For whiskey, get some Killbeggan Single Grain, or Bushmills Black Bush.
That’s okay! Everyone had their own tastes and thanks I’ll check those out. Thanks for watching and the suggestions
beautiful cabinet. I'm not a cnc guy per se, but you're correct that its just another tool. Whiskey, hmm, we did a tour recently of 4 roses in Kentucky, but back home, I'm reaching for my rum and coke. Old habits I guess ..lol.
Thank you! and thats okay! You dont need to like or use a cnc, just dont bash me for using one haha four roses is pretty good! and its okay to have an old habit, rum and coke was my go to. I still get it as a default if i dont know what a restaurant has to offer lol
Makers Mark!
That’s a good one!
Not gonna lie, I was a bit disappointed to see the CNC work, but probably not for the reason you think. CNC is just one of countless technologies that woodworkers have to achieve their goals, and it’s just like any other tool - you have to learn how to use it in order to be successful with it.
The reason I was disappointed was because I really wanted to learn how to make this kind of pattern, and I don’t have a CNC.
I wonder if a similar effect could be achieved using a specialty router bit on a circle cutting jig, or maybe just some layout lines and a wood carving wheel on an angle grinder.
Hey! I think you could achieve this by hand. How I would do it is buy/make a router circle jig, mark out the lines with a pencil, use the router circle jig with a straight bit to remove a bulk of the material giving you the general shape of the ripples and then use an angled grinder to make it all smooth. It would probably look way cooler with a hand made touch and not being perfectly smooth. You could also just go at it with an angle grinder and wood disc but I think making the guide lines with a router circle jig would save a lot of time and head ache. You could also use a large cove bit for hogging out the material this wood give you a more curved profile than a straight router bit.
I totally LOVE this design!!!!!!
Thank you! It was a blast to build, I learned a ton
Great work on the cabinet. I really appreciate your demonstration of Tambor. As a suggestion for a great bourbon whiskey try Elijah Craig. I know you will love it.
Thanks! I’ll add that one to the list, thanks for the recommendation
FYI leather to back everything instead of fabric would not have been expensive. You could’ve used garment leather and they sell those at leather shops and they also have remnants/scraps that you could’ve bought for not too much money
Interesting, thanks for the input! I’ll check that out
nice job!!!
I so badly want to try Tambour Doors but holy cow nervous. What do you think about a light"ish" weight cotton canvas for the backing?
I would be fine! And do it. It wasn’t that bad, I see people use drop cloth from Home Depot
Those gatekeepers that say that using a CNC isn’t real woodworkers probably aren’t doing complete hand tool builds and are just jealous that they lack the skill it takes to use one.
Table saws were once hated on too. I'm fine with people not liking new tools but dont bash others who chose to use them, If anything it allows more people to be creative.
Great looking cabinet. Can that wave design be created in Vcarve pro? Have you trie Blanton Whiskey?
I made the design in shapr3d but you could probably do it in aspire. I use v carve pro to carve the design you just can’t really model with that version. I have not! I’ll keep an eye out for it
Beautiful !! don't have CNC but i am going to make one similar to hold my various single malts...you can have your bourbon lol
Deal! lol definitely make one!
Nice cabinet. Give Four Roses Small Batch and Yellowstone Select a try.
I’ve had yellow stone! I like that one, I’ve seen four roses I’ll have to try that one! And thanks for watching
Sweet project. I don't have a cnc, but now I am trying to figure out how to make this with my laser.
lots of passes haha
Looks great! Try out the Evan William's Single Barrel!
Ohhh I don’t know I’ve seen that one 🤔 it’s my cheap go to I like the black and white label. I’ll keep an eye out. Thanks for watching!
Man, that came out so sick! Really like the design of the doors and the satisfying roll of them off the table top 😂
yeah it is! haha I did it way too many times. Thanks for watching!
Its beautifulll
Thanks! I appreciate you watching
Where do i buy wood like this? I know home Depot (at least where i live) doesn't
There are local wood distributors in most areas for fine home cabinet makers but also you might try looking for a Rockler wood working supply store in your area, also some local lumber mills have exotic woods also. I hope this will help in your search for cabinet grade wood.
Love the story!
This is your fault
@@TwoMooseDesign I love bourbon 🤷🏻♂️
Same….. 😆 I’ve been dabbling with the Irish whiskeys too
Nice job. Try some Makers Mark cask strength. It is very good
I’ll check that one out. I’ve had the original thanks for watching!
I really appreciate you tagging the original artist 👍🏻
That is flipping outstanding!!!! Great job,,,, maybe a 3d scene would also be cool,,,, match a fireplace mantle ,,,,, again GREAT JOB!!!
Ohhhh yeah! Thanks for watching!
Love this project! Not a bourbon fan but I'm completely on board for a tequila cabinet.
I like to experiment with something besides the cotton cloth. Maybe carbon fiber cloth or a copper mesh.
Might also be interesting to make with Baltic birch or tigerply to get that layering effect when the CNC is carving out the different depths.
Ohhh that would be interesting! Thanks for watching!
Awesome man. It came out amazing!!!
THank you! i appreciate it
Nice to meet you. I'm a Japanese who makes wooden furniture. I'm trying to make furniture using tambour doors for my graduation project, and I found your video. Your design is wonderful and I'd like to use it as a reference. Could you please tell me the details of the moving parts, such as the width of the groove of the rail and the radius of the corners?
That cabinet is badass!!!
Thank you!
Your CNC machine does nice work.
Sure does
So, how thick do you think you could make that tambour and it still function? I had some ideas right off the jump, but thickness is a concern.
My pieces were about .8 thick and the tennon was about 3/8”. I don’t think it would really matter as the tennon can be made any size to ride in the groove as long as they are excessive, maybe the more weight would make them bind. I’m not sure check out Johnny builds his looked thicker than mine and seemed to work fine
@@TwoMooseDesign Thanks
Taking the long view, all the basics of joinery have been with us since before the iron age. Therefore, anyone using steel tools has already embraced advanced tech. Personally, I only accept anti-CNC comments from people who work with bronze-age tools and certainly not from anyone whose hand tools were made in a machine shop.
❤
Wow !
Thank you!!
Awesome looking furniture. Of course it is woodworking. Ikea is also wood working. And this is not like ikea since it is your design. Some people like to make things by hand (without computer automation) and I think it is also important to value this especially in the age of AI. Some people might want to control the making process from beginning to end some just the design and most will just want the furniture and go to the store without minding at the process. The only problem is people lying about which process they use for example false handmade etc...
That’s such an amazing cabinet. The CNC work enhances the look. Great work. 👍
Thank you!
like it a lot you have got me thinking i like bourbon and i have a cnc
hahaha doooo it!
Excited for the plans when they're up! I am currently digging old fashioned made with Basil Hayden dark rye whiskey, and then their bourbon for just on the rocks.
I'll have to see if i can find that one! I'll have them up this week sometime! Thanks for watching
I don't drink so I can't offer you any whiskey tips.
I can tell you, however, that the cabinet looks fantastic. Great work.
Thank you!!
Cabinet is nice. But i wanted to see the unimpressed doggo 😂
😆😆
Love the caveman analogy!
It’s typically right too lol always continue to learn! You never know everything 😁
So, in my view, Norm Abram is master woodcrafter who showcased his skills in his New Yankee Workshop television show. He’s considered on of the best by many and he would often adapt new tools and ways of doing things. I recall seeing him show off a dove tail jig and using a router rather than the traditional cabinetmaker’s way.
There is little doubt he would be using all sorts of new tools we have today if his show was still being done today.
I think it is important to know how things were done without the tools we have now. It pays respect to the hobby and the development within it.
To those that may hate on your efforts, there is a little hypocrisy going on with that. You could say they don’t do things the way the old pioneers did. I don’t see folks felling trees and using an adze and every other hand tool under the sun for their projects. If someone is that old ways person, a tip of the hat to them. Anyone using any form of power tools in their projects is on the same path as you. They just have traveled as far on the journey.
I agree! I just enjoy creating and encourage others to do the same. I don’t care how they create as long as they are making or creating something it’s a win!
His cabinet is so beautiful! I would play with the doors just because. Your op-art cutting boards are another favorite. I wanna make beautiful stuff too!
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Nice cabinet, thanks for sharing. Which CNC router machine are you using? Also, don't focus on negativity, just skip that and stay positive. The rest was cool.
I like how with it closed…. It’s kinda like an art piece. Then open it’s like a fancy display case. Very cool and a little more exciting than a cabinet.
There’s attachments you can put on angle grinders to ‘carve’ much quicker which is still probably cheating to some but available to folks without a CNC machine
Looking forward to seeing the bigger version now.beautiful piece
Thanks!!
Subscribed here as well!
Thank you!
Amazing build.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching
Beautiful work!
Thanks for watching i appreciate it
Love it!!! Great job.
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
This could be described in several ways. As for me, I would describe it as beautiful.
I appreciate it!
How thick is the sawblade you used? Looks amazing!
It was a thin kerf Diablo blade from Home Depot, I don’t know the exact thickness but less than 1/8”
@@TwoMooseDesign thanks, that helps alot! One of our aprrentices is thinking about integrating a tambour into her journeymens piece when she finishes her time as an apprentice and we were thinking about the width of the cut to not disrupt the grain more than necessary.
although, conerting that into mm, it's basically the same as our standard blades. Interesting, I guess the grain matters quite a bit.
Very nice - does it need some kind of finger recess for opening? If this one doesn't, I think a larger one, such as you intend to make in the future, will. Cheers, I enjoyed the show.
Cool build man!
Thanks! It was a fun build
