    ----------------------------------------------------------
    Jessica looked at everyone around her; cramped all in one small space with no leg room to move. She sighed - it was going to be a long flight, but as soon as she found her seat, she tensed up a little more. That day she knew she would be uncomfortable but did not expect how uncomfortable. As she started to make her way into the seat, a man came straight towards her and would not let her sit down. She had no idea why, but as soon as he opened his mouth, she knew, and she had to do something in return.

      It's been proven clinically that a person helping another person has a release of endorphin in their brain and they physically feel better. In addition, a person just witnessing someone else helping someone also has a release of endorphin in their brain and they also feel physically better. So what you said is in fact true.

    As a military veteran I've received so much kindness from many people and there just aren't words to express my appreciation. One incident happened when I was dining at a local restaurant. When I requested my bill the waiter informed me my meal had been paid for by a lady who had already departed. To her and the many who have made my journey in uniform so meaningful, THANK YOU.

      This is just another real good feel good story designed to illicit your emotions. I'm sick of how military personnel have been treated over the years. During the hippie years they were so despised they were cursed at and spit upon at the airports. Today there's this politically correct nonsense to treat ALL of them as heroes. Both of them are just as wrong.
      I served in the Navy and was an Army brat growing up. And this might come as a surprise to most, but we have HUMAN beings serving in the Military. Some are heroes true but there are also thieves, rapist, embezzlers, etc etc. in all branches of the service too. Some people are smart, others are semi retarded. Some work hard others are lazy. Some people lay down their lives for their fellow shipmates etc. Some just look for a way to cheat the system. Most of them are somewhere in between.
      Not to mention in today's political atmosphere most service men don't wear their uniforms off base. With the exception of "Military towns" most people you see in uniform are either recruiters or are stealing valor and pretending to be in the military. Can you imagine giving some D-Bag pretender a free meal ?!?

    Being a veteran myself, I cannot express how much it means to vets and service members when someone, at the least, acknowledges their existence. I would die for this country, then and now. Sacrifices like that aren't difficult for us, but they're not a simple choice to make. Peace.

    Years ago when I was stationed in England in the Air Force my Dad passed away. I was 20 years old and devastated. This reminds me of what happened to me many years ago. In 1973 I was an Army Staff Sergant stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. My father died and I was going home for his funeral. When I got to the airport in Frankfort, I found that there was not an empty seat on the plane I needed to take to D.C. About 5 minutes later, a full Col.stepped off the plan, walked up to me, saluted me and said go home to be with your family son. He hugged me and walked over to the waiting room to wait for a later flight.

    • @reb1225
      @reb1225 2 года назад

      So the Army sent you to the airport with a ticket for a seat on a plane that didn't exist?! WOW! And if it was military transport, then your emergency leave takes priority over all others on the plane and you are guaranteed a seat. So it wasn't a kind gesture, it was a requirement.

    I was in the airline business for 33 years and have seen the sort of kindness many times. It really warms your heart to see someone go out of their way to make a complete stranger have a better day. The best story I can remember was when a middle-aged and very overweight women that was sitting in coach was loudly complaining to the flight attendant that she needed more room. Sitting next to her was a young and very pregnant young lady that never said a word and even though she was being crowded out by the other woman. The flight attendant apologized and said she would see what she could do. She asked the lady to stand in the aisle for a minute and then asked the young mother to also stand and move towards the aisle. The fussing lady sure was surprised when the flight attendant moved the young lady to first-class and told the other woman that was the best she could do for her to have more room. The other passenger applauded.

Great people and not out for that tourist buck every time you turned around like in Hawaii. I actually was taken home from the bar my cabby recommended. (and drove me there free!) Barkeep bought my 1st round and several ladies bought the rest. One of the ladies invited me home with her and we drove (in her car) to her place and she became my tour guide for the rest of my R&R. 2nd R&R in Australia, same thing happened (with a different lady because the one from my first visit had moved far across the country for a job.)

    • @user-rz7cm2we3x
      @user-rz7cm2we3x 3 года назад +11

      @@___ykc: Hear hear! At last someone tells the truth! I know something about it, because I am Polish. The Poles had to start the uneven fight (for Poland) of WW2 to defend their country from right before the dawn of 1st September 1939 and fought for a month officially (on horseback with sabers in hand against the Germans in tanks, if necessary) while their allies (the English and the French) waited and played a “sitting war” because they believed the German provocation (Gleiwitz incident) and very advanced and deceptive German propaganda and could not believe that Germans could be so cunning, treacherous and vile as to attack a neighbouring country for literally no reason and without even a proper declaration of war!
      The Battle of Westerplatte (where the Germans attacked a small and isolated Polish military garrison on a peninsula and had to carry 13 assaults from the sea, air and land for a week - around 3400 Germans against utmost 225 Poles. The Germans were so impressed with the Polish defense that they stood at attention when the remaining defenders marched out after the eventual capitulation after 7 days of ceaseless fighting and they even allowed the commanding officer, Major H. Sucharski to keep his ceremonial sabre while in captivity, at first at least) - was one of the first battles in this war and then after official capitulation the Poles fought for the next 5 and a half years, mostly guerrilla war and resistance in the country, against the occupying Germans and initially (from 17th Sep 1939 till the summer of 1941) against the Soviet forces, while the Polish soldiers on emigration formed Polish Armed Forces in the West and joined the Western Allies’ forces in the fight against Germans and their allies all over the world in “most Allied operations against Nazi Germany in the Mediterranean and Middle East and the European theatres: the North African Campaign (with the Battle of Monte Cassino being one of the most notable), the Western European Campaign (from Dieppe Raid and D-Day through Battle of Normandy and latter operations, especially Operation Market Garden).” [after Wikipedia entry “Polish Armed Forces in the West”]
      And after all this valour and sacrifice, W. Churchill and F.D. Roosevelt got scared of Josef Stalin at Yalta and agreed to give up Poland under the Soviet “protection” and actual management! The Polish veterans of the Polish Armed Forces in the West were not able to return to the motherland for fear of death (the factually Soviet-controlled new Polish government exterminated the Armia Krajowa (the Polish Home Army of WW II) heroic soldiers...) and were not even present at the London Victory Parade of 1946. Officially they were invited but the delegation from Poland never arrived because of the pressure from Moscow and the invited Polish veterans of the RAF (of the two Polish squadrons (302 and 303) who had fought under British RAF (the Battle of Britain!) refused because the Polish Army and Navy were not invited. And the Polish “Surplus Heroes” were advised to go home...
      I think there have never been better soldiers than were the Polish soldiers (both in Armia Krajowa at home and the Polish Armed forces in the West) during the WW II. I’m very proud of them and I’m very proud of coming from such a brave and honourable nation!
      Have a peaceful and happier New Year 2021! Cheers!

I use to take military hops all the time and you never know what airline you were going to get on because it's based on availability and moving from base to base yes we always wore our uniforms (we don't live in Afghanistan where it would be unsafe). In this story, a gentleman is showing his gratitude for her service and sacrifice. No, a soldier does not make what the majority of Americans make, it's basically around minimum wage if you were to give it an 8-hour day wage but I don't know any military personnel that was never required to work longer hours than a regular business day or be on call every moment of their day holiday or not ready to deploy on a moments notice. I respect what he did and think it was a wonderful gesture of kindness to someone who is serving her country regardless of her pay rate.

When I was at an airport bar waiting for a flight, 3 Marines came in and took a table, and I overheard one say, "we might as well have a few drinks - we won't be partying in Baghdad." I told the waitress to put their first round on my tab. One of them thanked me and the guy next to me grabbed some menus and said, "Get yourselves a good meal - on me." They were still there when I had to board, but while I was there, at least two other men at the bar told the waitress not to let them pay for anything - they'd get it. One small act of kindness, and suddenly, a bunch of people were piling on. I hope they had a good time.

    When I was young and new to the Navy. I couldn't believe all the outpouring of generosity from strangers. Now that I am older if there is a military person I can "pay it forward" to I do it. Of course I try my best to help out everyone I can, but I always look for the uniform.

    My story may not go viral like this one did but it shows that there are a lot of really nice people in this world. Most of my early life I was treated very poorly by others that I went to school with and people i worked with as well as others that met . A lot of them wouldn't have anything to do with me. Now that I'm older I have had people offer to help me out if I needed it. This help was never asked for by me and was and is greatly appreciated. I would would be in a local store ready to check out and not have enough money to pay for the items that I bought. These people would step forward and pay what I owed. Which goes to say that love and kindness can go a long way to making this world a better place.

    I love this story! I was in the Navy and a corpsman with the marines during Vietnam. When flying back to the states I was treated like crap both times I was returning to the states by people who hated anyone served in Vietnam. Glad to see minds and hearts have changed.

    It was 1968 and I was just 3 months in the Air Force when I received word that my father had passed away. I was only 18. My Sgt. and others helped fund me to get me home for the funeral. I had to dress up in my Air Force blues to get a plane on stand-by as I hardly had any money to afford a regular ticket. I sat way back in the last row where the stewardess were and just kept to myself. Then, whenever people walked by me to go to the bathroom, some would sneer, cuss and several even spit on me. I knew I was being labeled as a war loving militant because of my uniform and we were hated for participating in the Vietnam war. A stewardess saw what was happening and got out of her seat in the back and came and sat in the aisle side of my row. She looked at me not saying a word and I started crying. This young lady was the shoulder I needed at that time and I think of her often. A small act of kindness has lasted a lifetime for me. Her comforting action and compassion definitely eased my trip home.

    I always try to remain anonymous when helping others --- the best part is knowing they look around & envision that any one of the people around them could be their benefactor.
