    Just a tip with the welding, you need to cover your exposed skin as the UV can burn you, if you are just doing a few tacks here and there all good, but weld for any real length of time and you'll get "arc burn"...not pleasant.....nice work on this job though, its a hell of a project!!

      @@Ratarossa its something I think we have all done, luckily for me my father was a boilermaker/Welder so I learned at an early age about arc burn......Those welders you have bought look really good, nice and portable and you seemed to have picked up welding pretty quickly....Looking forward to seeing the end result of this 308....its a great project.

    To mount the bumper looking at the other 308 it should be a tube by the look of it not a stud. Would be more substantial. Would explain why your bumper initially sat low. If a tube of the correct dia to slide over bumper tube (with a slot so the bolt can clamp it) was put in the middle of the hole probably have not been far away.

    • @Ratarossa
      @Ratarossa  4 года назад +1

      this is correct and i'm looking for some to mount the front bumper in this way.

    • @johnhealy3671
      @johnhealy3671 4 года назад

      The slot will allow some movement of the bumper in the event someone rear ended you lightly, parking knock, that kind of thing, the slot will allow the bumper to move absorbing most of the impact rather than sending it directly to the frame, meaning you might only need to replace the bumper and not the frame.

    Love the channel. The amperage on the mig looks to be a bit low based on the sound it was making while welding. Play with the feed speed while setting the amperage based on the metal thickness and adjust the feed rate until it sound like bacon sizzling.

    I love the 308! As a non purist guy, thank God, you might be keen to bring out the full potential of the 308. They respond extremely well to modern camshaft profiles and individual throttle bodies. Cat Cams have new, not reground billets good for around 10,000rpm!!!. For the ITB's, a used sprint Hillborn injection system is modified for EFI. You wouldn't rev it to 10 k every day but it would be there.

    Hi Scott loving the videos
    If you get chance, keep on practicing with the welding. If you have spare or scrap material get it joined together!
    You might consider pushing the gun away from you rather than pulling towards (give it a go) It never hurts to lightly prepare the surfaces by removing the mill scale with a linishing wheel on the grinder. Please also consider wearing something more suitable, cover the exposed skin.

    The Vector was hailed as an American supercar to rival the countach on looks, but be faster than most "rivals" . Its was ahead of its time with some of its features and as doug says it has an Aeromotive feel and theme to it, a bit like a cross between a Saab and today's Teslas. The car itself only sold 20ish models but it was a real bedroom wall poster car in the vain of the Countach for practicality and the looks but not usability of the Redhead. Thanks again for the videos, I'm another interested watcher who has no mechanical sense or skill. I know what "stuff" does but dont have a clue how to fix stuff! You, Influenzo, SALVAGE FLIPPERS, four lane blacktop and the incredibly patient German fella Mr M539 to name just a few, have kept alot of the country entertained during and after lockdown, furlough plus my return to work. Be careful etc. Ben 🐎🦄🇬🇧🇮🇪

    Another great video it's certainly a labour of love for you and Mr Influenzo on these 308s. Earlier today I watched a Doug Demuro video which you may find of interest, on a rival to the Testrarossa, the Vector W8 a car I've seen a few times in magazines but never really tested. It's basically a mid engined gull winged rival to the countach and your Tesrarossa with a twin turbo v8 producing 600bhp with a purported 240 mph top speed. It's an interesting car and actually runs into x2 videos. Keep up the good work, I do hope you'll do a joint video between you and Mr Influenzo when the cars are finished. Stay safe etc. Ben

    I find it fascinating how these cars, expensive when new, can be left to deteriorate to the condition they become. Along the line one of the previous owners has invested good sums of money and then they fail to protect their investment. Think of the vast amounts of money wasted and lost. I’d love to know those stories.

    Doesn't Superformance make a rear bumper conversion kit...

    • @Ratarossa
      @Ratarossa  4 года назад

      Jimf rear bumper and brackets were Superformance. Most people drill the US number shocks but I figured I would remove the 40kgs of weight and those heavy shocks

    • @jimf5160
      @jimf5160 4 года назад

      @@Ratarossa I agree with removing the extra 40kg... Just don't get bumped in the rear...the new brackets are pretty lightweight.
