I did find some mistakes here(NOT HATINGGGGGG)
    1. Roblox has plugins users can make that make the engine feel better and stuff and some are very useful
    2. Roblox isn't limited to that style only. You can make a 2d game with using robloxs GUI, also edit avatars and make them whatever you want and change their anamitaons and stuff and also you can mess with the lighting service there are games that don't look like roblox like Robot 64 and many others that don't look like roblox
    3. Also roblox has epic system with many services being done for you you don't have to pay for servers you don't have to set up some monetization stuff for like hours data stores all that for free

I don't know about your own experiences but it was very limited for me. I think the only part that not limited is, you can import Custom models. Also You are right about the style part! You can do any style you want depending on your Model and Texture Style but the problem is, the player base doesn't want different styles. That's why most of Popular games look alike and make differences with their mechanics instead of their styles. So there is no point of making a game with a different style because it usually won't make profit in the Roblox market.

@@grey-devsnot really! the roblox player base is made up of millions so over all The bad part about roblox studio is that it's 10 years behind every other engine as physics and graphics! Over all I made a game there and it got over 10k visits I still develop it for fun and it's really good! Over all Roblox might be more useful if you want to make a community since earning money is the hard part! (Still really possible but it needs a lot of effort to reach the top) about the game style really not true. Just the whole platform is separated by communities but for example many players get exhausted at other games so they try to find new once which are similar to the one they got off! This literally means that you can easily grow a game! And also you can export your game to other game engines but the trick is you have to do it model by model or if you want it fast group the whole map! Sadly the scripts won't be able to make it though :C

Software engineer with a bit of experience in gamedev here.
Your disapointment seems to come from a misunderstanding or incorrect expectations on your part. You came to Roblox studio looking for a game engine. First mistake.
You cannot compare Roblox Studio to any other game engine. Compare it to Fortnite and Verse if you want, or upcoming game Hytale, even Core is a good exemple, but not other game engines, that doesn't make sense. What you gain from Roblox Studio and all similar platforms are : ease of use, out of the box functionnalities and HUGE player base !
What you get from game engines is more flexibility and possibilities.
Stating that you "can't even export from Roblox" really tells me you didn't try it out for the right reasons.

This guy says stuff like Roblox Studio is limited and inflexible, lacks tools, feels outdated, doesn't offer any options, and is too simplistic. But he doesn't really dive deeper into these points or give us anything to compare it against. The only things he mentions specifically are basic graphics and limited gameplay. Seriously? You're being a little harsh towards Roblox. It's not intended to be exported, as it's built to run on the Roblox game servers. It's not "limited" to Roblox graphics, you just have to get creative. You have to write your own 2D micro-engine, or change the controls to only move in certain directions. The amount of services that LuaU gives you is also quite incredible, as you can tween items without much knowledge, animate characters within a few minutes of watching RUclips videos, and though I agree that certain parts are limited, there are still so many possibilities. If you want to get out of the "I don't know what I'm doing in here" stage of Roblox studio, feel free to contact us. I'd love to talk more about the engine with you :)

I see where this is coming from, roblox isn't that limited and it sadly doesn't have shaders for more cartoony style but you can always make a stylized game in roblox it's not impossible there has been a lot of amazing games on roblox with amazing graphics the best one I would recommend is frontlines roblox is so beginner friendly and you do not need a whole studio to make your own game obviously same goes for every engine but I have tried using unreal Engine before with all of the cool stuff I've seen yet I was confused it's basically that I'm too comfortable using roblox studio over any game engine at the end of the day it's just my opinion but roblox studio is definitely the way to go if you want to make your own game with a bit of knowledge it's not the engine fault but more of the developers of these games fault for not showing the best of what the engine can do

    • @grey-devs
      @grey-devs  2 месяца назад

Thanks for sharing your opinion! Like I said it's good for beginner developers just to learn the concept of Game Development. The Problem is, if you wanna work in the Gaming Industry, you can't find that much job opportunities with Roblox Studio. The tools, Addons, Extensions and the Engine itself was very limited, The Particle System and Post Processing part was not Enough and the Lua programming language was not fun because it was too basic for me. Also one of my favorite part about Game Development is, taking feedback from the players and spend time with them. Roblox player base is not the type of players I want to reach. It's purely preferential. I spent 4 months in it and I don't Enjoy using it a bit. Also I don't think that it's Developers fault to not show what the best engine can do. They have to update their games constantly, that's why it's not a smart choice to not make "Good Graphics". Same about the Mechanics, Roblox players are very young and you have to design your mechanics for your target age. I think Roblox Devs are doing their job pretty good! Keeping the Gameplay and Graphics simple for the kids and Following the trends :p

nice video, but i feel like you just didnt really go into any depth, this feels more like the intro to a longer video, i was actually kind of confused when it ended. If i click on a video about why roblox studio sucks, i kind of expect the person making the video to give me actual examples or use cases in which the engine fails. Just saying "its more limited" without giving any examples isnt exactly interesting. You could summarize this entire video by saying "i dont like using roblox studio because i was forced to use it and think its limited" and you would literally not lose any information in the process. I dont mean to just dunk on you or whatever, the presentation and voice over is really good, especially for a small channel like this, but you really need to go into more detail. If possible, a follow up video about what specifically you didnt like would be nice, because this topic is actually really interesting, especially coming from an outsiders perspective who doesnt really know much about roblox studio. You just didnt really cover it in this video, despite the title.

I'm simply not sure, if it still exists or not. As far as I know, the CEO who decided to add this #### left, and the new CEO removed this "pay for any players installing your game lmao" thing was deleted, but I'm not really sure... Games like Meep City (in citation side note i fucking hate meep city), Doors, Traitor Town, Trenches: Beta. These games (aside from Trenches) have custom server handling. Also know that many great games, with all the mechanics required to make a good game, even with MILLIONS of visits, are already dead.
I suggest looking at Trenches: Beta, it'll change your perspective on the variety of design choices available, but keep in mind that many things are incredibly complex and require dozens of stitched together modules to function, even if they look basic.

I'm drawn to Unreal because of its optimization and lighting capabilities, but I find the placement process cumbersome. Constantly adjusting the pivot and maneuvering objects with those tiny arrows gets frustrating. If there's a workaround that I'm missing, I'd love to know and perhaps give the engine another shot. However, if this is just the nature of Unreal, I may hold off until I delve deeper into game development studies. (btw I corrected my English with ChatGPT so maybe that's why it reads unnatural)

Also, I have a 'boss' on Roblox who is quite effective at reengaging people with their work and motivating them to utilize Roblox. I don't have that on Unreal.
