Okay, Jon. Please listen. I spent all of Origins hoping you saw it, but alas. Underneath the character portraits are two small icons. The left allows you to change formations. The right one tells all characters or just one of your choosing to hold position. Works wonders in creating chokepoints. Love the series so far. Keep it up.
You have a passive ability that automatically lets you score critical hits on immobilized enemies, you don't have to waste several atks worth of movement just to get behind them when you cc them, just atk from the front.
Soooo happy to see you’re doing Awakening! I’m still fresh off of my first play through of Origins/Awakening so this is perfect timing for these uploads

Regarding spell warriors, the traditional arcane warrior tree for mages effectively creates a magic using tank capable of soloing the game... even on nightmare. No penalties (beyond fatigue penalty) for wearing heavy armor, and damage + accuracy scaling with spell power. Absolutely nuts. They can't take tank skills unfortunately, but an arcane warrior with spirit healer or blood mage is simply the strongest thing in the game. edit: Battle Mage is incredible too

So many people are now playing the DA series (to finish before 4th part is ready to go!) and you are the best of the best of the best! I wish you'd go for another 2 games also...

I'm excited for this! I never actually finished Awakening as I got hit by the game-breaking Velanna bug, then I went off the idea. Of all the Origins companions, Oghren would've been the last I'd choose to continue on with me...
I love the idea of Alistair, Anders, Oghren, and the Warden travelling together, Alistair would make a comment, wait a few seconds then look towards Anders and go "No sarcastic comment or mean spirited remark about me?" only for Anders to say "You are a former Templar, so I don't particularly like you in that regards, but Oghren is a lot easier to mock and your wife is the queen consort and Warden Commander, so I will pick my battles where I can." Oghren would take offense to the comment then pull out some insult he learnt from Zevran. Jon would be sitting there asking "Why did the Maker give me a new Morrigan and Oghren? I wanted a honeymoon killing darkspawn...."
Jon, if you haven't already done it you really need to get 80 gold coins ASAP to give to the dwarf that's rebuilding the wall's. From what I can remember it is possible to make a profit from crafting and selling greater or potent lyeruim potion's if you want to go that route off screen
If wondering origins itself takes about a year in universe; awakening 6 months after finale, witch hunt 2 years after finale and golems in between the two

"We need bandages! Get those bandages! On the other side of the courtyard. Through that army of darkspawn. Yes, those bandages! They're really good bandages. We need them!"
Jon: Death Magic?! It's Blood Magic! He has it available from the start so he has to be a Blood Mage! Meanwhile: Blood Magic: Has it's own dedicated Specialization Tree which Anders DOES NOT default with. And: "Death Magics" are Classified under Entropy which is by default available to all Mages from the start without any specializations and have absolutely nothing to do with blood of any sort. Further: Walking Bomb is spirit based, not Blood and actual death magic is derived from Spiritual classification whereas the Death Cloud line is classed as Draining Type magic, not actually death.
Anders is the best, and isn't a blood mage unless you make him one (which is a good choice because blood magic is one of the best specializations for any mage) he's a pure soul and loves cats

There is a very good reason why no one knows the details of the Joining. Not many people would join the Grey Wardens outside a Blight if they knew what it entailed. If the very world is being threatened as they speak, it's one thing, but during a time of the Darkspawn being a distant memory or even just tales to scare children? Very few would sign their lives away to combat an apparently nonexistent threat. Slowly, the order would have died out during the centuries between Blights. And that would be an enormous issue when the next Blight came around. Even if you take the Chantry version of its origin as true, there have to be at least two more Blights. And without Grey Wardens, you cannot end a Blight. As no one can kill the Archdemon. It would be the first Blight all over again. Duncan knew it was a Blight. And so his recruitment methods were more aggressive as a result. Because he knew an enormous threat was around the corner and every Grey Warden was needed. Edit: You really need to start picking up loot, too. You pick up trash like manuscripts and documents, worth nothing, instead of high tier gear, worth multiple pieces of gold. Both take up the same space. Awakening expects you to have a Lot of money.
Jon, Attack speed stacking is bugged in this game. If your attack speed more than doubles, it goes back to standard speed. Activating both Haste and Momentum is causing you to lose the benefit of both. There should be a fix for PC though.
First time I played Awakening the mod fix was not available yet. I had to strip my character of all gear for the endgame save prior to importing to Awakening so it didn't break.
John I recommend learning Glyph of Paralysis and Glyph of Repulsion. When you put Glyph of Paralysis over Glyph of Repulsion it creates Mass Paralysis without cast time but mind it will paralyze friendlies if not "aimed" properly.

It amazes me how throughout this whole series Jon constantly complains about not having money...yet he keeps opening chests and going "nah, I don't want that" and then he just leaves the stuff there instead of picking it up to sell!
Okay, Jon. Please listen. I spent all of Origins hoping you saw it, but alas. Underneath the character portraits are two small icons. The left allows you to change formations. The right one tells all characters or just one of your choosing to hold position. Works wonders in creating chokepoints. Love the series so far. Keep it up.
"we have to finish all of origins to understand dragon age 2!"
yeah, about that…
"He's a blood mage. Stab him! Stab him! Where's the stabbing him option?"
If only. It still wouldn't have made DA2 good.
Jon: Oh... so he isn't a blood mage.
*About 2 seconds later*
Jon: Okay so he is a blood mage so....
This guy, who I have just noted does not have the Blood Mage class, is a blood mage...
So glad you are doing this. My favourite piece of Dragon Age DLC from any of the games and one of my favourite pieces of DLC for any game full stop.
Thank you for playing Awakening. I haven't seen this in so long, but I remember it fondly. So glad Jon is playing all Dragon Age.
Jon meets a random mage who doesn't want to be in the tower (exactly like morrigan) "oh he's a blood mage! Stab him!" (Sees his stats and learns he isn't a blood mage at all) "ok this guy IS a blood mage"
Ah, Awakening, such a underrated part of Dragon Age, but I love it.
Can't wait for the "things that Jon got wrong" on thinking apostate = blood mage
I'd have said Mhairi is pronounced "Varry" as that's how the Gaelic name is pronounced, but she pronounces it as "Mhy ree" so that's rather way to pronounce it, got it.
I look forward to learning more about this potential new Grey War....
Never mind
YES, YES JON Blood mages are amazing, please be a blood mage in Dragon Age 2 :) Of course, play the game however you wish Jon
Awakening is more like a proper expansion. Probably the best piece of dlc Bioware ever made.
Anders is many things… but blood mage is not one of them. He just hates Templars… much like you when you first started Origins!!!
Also, you’ve known him for 10 seconds and are already asking where the “stab him” option is 😭
It's really nice to see Awakening, it's been a while and I haven't seen/played it as many times as I have Origins so it's a little fresher.
They can't take tank skills unfortunately, but an arcane warrior with spirit healer or blood mage is simply the strongest thing in the game.
edit: Battle Mage is incredible too
You can at least layer some great passives to focus on just using melee alongside heals (regeneration for example typically on spirit healer).
Also, being an apostate doesn't necessarily mean someone is a blood mage, it's just that they don't want to live under the rules set by the Circle
Jon , I do believe "cleanse" - second templar hability , cures "curse of mortality", just in case. ;)
An Apostate is a mage who doesn't live by the Circle rules, like Morrigan, like Anders, they're not necessarily blood mages.
A blood mage is also know as a Maleficar , and all blood mages are apostates, but not all apostates are blood mages. ;)
I do believe something on Mhairi AI tactics is wrong she is staying still in some odd moments.

jon, momentum and haste are bugged together, yeah. Thankfully there are mods to fix that.
Oghrens joining scene couldn't have been any better 😂 the burp, Varels reaction, and Jon just standing there like "he does that, yes"
the way orgren reacted in the joining i would not be surprised he thinks about alcohol and darkspawn blood
I knew playing DAO would awaken something in Jon eventually.
* badum-tiss... *
That was terrible. Won't even get you thrown into the pun-geon.
We death mages take great offense to the assumed association with blood mages.
(read: did you just assume magic?!)
So many people are now playing the DA series (to finish before 4th part is ready to go!) and you are the best of the best of the best!
I wish you'd go for another 2 games also...
"Spirit Healer. CLEARLY a Blood Mage!"
Wynne: "wait what?"
Apostate = mage who escaped templar "supervision"
Blood mage = mage who uses blood magic
While basically all blood mages are apostates (since they are "kill on sight" by the templars) not all apostates are bloodmages.
plus since jon has those blood abilities from the tower dlc in origins, hes kind of a blood mage himself
Death mages and blood mages are separate things, and death mages are very well respected in some circles
I sometimes wonder if claire gets jealous at Jon's clear affection for a video game hunk...
Jon, if you haven't already done it you really need to get 80 gold coins ASAP to give to the dwarf that's rebuilding the wall's. From what I can remember it is possible to make a profit from crafting and selling greater or potent lyeruim potion's if you want to go that route off screen
Jon, entropy magic is perfectly legal, they teach that stuff in the Circle Tower.
Mhairi, is that a red shirt that you're wearing?
Oh. Yeah. It was.
Whelp, we needed a better front-liner anyway.
If wondering origins itself takes about a year in universe; awakening 6 months after finale, witch hunt 2 years after finale and golems in between the two
All base game specializations are unlocked here in awakening but you still need to unlock the new 6
Everybody calling Mhairi: MAI-REE.
Jon, after hearing this multiple times: nope, you're still MARY.
Extremely happy that you are continuing the series with the DLC.
I get excited every time Jon talks about DA2 and Inquisition. Shows that he is really enjoying the story.
I personally loved Inquisition and hopefully we'll see it in the channel some day
Death Cloud is literally just from the school of Entropy, which you can literally learn in the Circle.
Also, the new abilities are really interesting in that they seem to serve as bridges to the combat changes in DA2.
Just binge watched the last 30 episodes, I don't know how I'm gonna wait a week for Ep.43.
Jon: "Mary goes down in a hurry"
Me: "my kind of lady" ;)
Jon's lack of fund is his own undoing. He had endless opportunity to make gobs and gobs of cash that he blissfully ignored.
loot=money armor wise chestpieces are worth the most
"Don't actively stab Anders, but do not cocking trust him either. He's probably responsible for all of this."
*Giggles knowingly.*
shhhhhh
"We need bandages! Get those bandages! On the other side of the courtyard. Through that army of darkspawn. Yes, those bandages! They're really good bandages. We need them!"
Magic + constitution = blood mage
I just finished DA2 today and I'm very excited for Jon's stance on assuming all apostates are blood mages
Jon immediately distrusts Anders and thinks he's a blood mage. I couldn't stop laughing.
Anders is the best, and isn't a blood mage unless you make him one (which is a good choice because blood magic is one of the best specializations for any mage) he's a pure soul and loves cats
Yes....pure soul.... *Glances at the chantry*
@@Mobysimo the absolute character assassination of both Anders and Justice in DA2 if an atrocity, and only makes sense if you fail to get good endings for them in awakening, which I never do as a matter of principle, within the confines of awakening Anders is the best boy and I'll die on this hill, I don't even consider the mopy edgelord that DA2 calls anders to be the same character
@@gmh3 Hey, let's be clear on one thing.
There is only one Edgelord in Dragon Age 2 and he's the hot elf!
@@Mobysimo that's fair, although most characters in DA2 have their moments of edge, I guess he reason anders/vengeance pisses me of is because unlike Fenris who's a new character, both Anders and Justice were quite well developed characters already and their edginess is an unnecessary retcon that negates the good ending I worked so hard to give them
There is a very good reason why no one knows the details of the Joining.
Anders our beloved😊
I love how Oghren dident even faint... He just that immune to poison at this point :D
