      I visited New Jersey and the Olympic (Admiral Dewey's flagship for the battle of Manila Bay) which is across the river. Both are very worthwhile to visit. Turret 2 is open in the back, so you can see the three guns and also look through the periscope, etc. Ship is in very good shape and absolutely worth the time to tour. The only thing that is a shame is none of the Iowa's have their Admirals spaces left since they were taken over for the CIC. Great vid as usual Wolf. Thanks.

      Ay, tear her tattered ensign down!
      Long has it waved on high,
      And many an eye has danced to see
      That banner in the sky;
      Beneath it rung the battle shout,
      And burst the cannon’s roar;-
      The meteor of the ocean air
      Shall sweep the clouds no more!
      Her deck, once red with heroes’ blood
      Where knelt the vanquished foe,
      When winds were hurrying o’er the flood
      And waves were white below,
      No more shall feel the victor’s tread,
      Or know the conquered knee;-
      The harpies of the shore shall pluck
      The eagle of the sea!
      O, better that her shattered hulk
      Should sink beneath the wave;
      Her thunders shook the mighty deep,
      And there should be her grave;
      Nail to the mast her holy flag,
      Set every thread-bare sail,
      And give her to the god of storms,-
      The lightning and the gale!

Your video on USS Baltimore yesterday piqued my interest - up to now I had figured Sea Power would be more of an RTS than the you-against-the-world feeling Cold Waters has, and it definitely looks like it CAN be that way with everything in this video and the 'indirect' commands you were issuing to Baltimore yesterday. However, it looks like it still has the potential to be a good one-on-one, direct control fight too, which is very cool! Not to mention all the interface improvements, the much-needed clarification on TMA, all that stuff, I'm much more interested in Sea Power now than I was two days ago.

    This game looks so amazing!
    First, the tension keeps building up, radar contacts come and go, and you need to identify whether they are friendly, hostile, or neutral. Time must be used wisely, just like in chess, to position your own assets. Then, suddenly, the action kicks in, and you have a few frantic minutes where you have to make tactical decisions without pause. How many missiles can I fire at the enemy to hit the target without overkill? How many targets have I yet to detect? Do I need to broadside to make optimal use of my CIWS? Simply a brilliant game.

    I used to run tournaments on the US Navy's wargame software called NAVTAG. I saw a coast guard officer pull a BRILLIANT move. He has a rough idea where the enemy was and he fired off a Harpoon missile with instructions not to turn its seeker radar on until 55 miles out from launch. He immediately turned 90 degrees and steamed at flank speed. When the Harpoons radar went off the Opfor commander panicked and turned on all his radars and fired weapons on a bearing only launch back down the path the Harpoon came from. He wound up giving away his position and it was all over at that point. The Coast Guard Officer mass volley fired his ASM's from his new position at the known target, taking them out.

    My grandfather served on the Big J during Korea. He helped restore her in NJ before she had pier. He took me there and showed me the off limits space after she was in full glory. He passed in 2009 but I hope there are people there who remember him. During his time on board and stole a 5" shell and cut of the bottom 4 inches. It was his pipe ashtray from then on. It site behind my desk with his pipe in his honor.

    Hi, I wrote a reply to one of your previous videos. I have a compliment, a request, and one mistake I to report.. First I am a former active United States Navy. I was medically retired in 2014 after my 5th major injured. The first part of my career I was an STG (Sonar Technician Surface) and initially served onboard USS Comte de Grasse DD-974 (a Spruance) and USS Henry B. Wilson DDG-7 (a Adams class). Later I also served on a Perry Class Frigate and then Burke class DDG's.
    First the compliment. Even now the attention to detail is outstanding. From the actions to even the discharge smoke puff after firing one of the main guns, well done. The ships look superb in details as does the water especially the wake. Visually in this build, the only critique would be that BB's blast when the guns are fired is a bit short and lacking in fire type detail but I assume that will be updated and tweaked as you get closer to release. Same goes for the missile trails.
    Next, the request - IF you are able, I would love to see the ships I served on included in the game. If you have already, then I thank you for that! If not and it is possible, I would love to see that not just for me but as a tribute to the ships and personnel that served on any of them!
    Finally, the mistake.. NOTE: This is information only as I understand you may not be able to use actual sonar unless you can find a recording or similar for what you need. I mention that in this comment in a bit more detail and why.
    Anyhow, you said the ship the Farragut went after was still using its sonar. That sonar ping was not russian, it sounded like an straight OMNI non reverb ping from an SQS-26B/BX or SQS-53B/C system (without the return, frequency shifts or background water and harmonics) which was US only at that time and only found on the CGN's like Texas (using the 26BX) still in service then, Spruance class DD (53B), the Kidd class DDG (53B) and the Ticonderoga class CG (first flight using 53B). The Farragut would be using the SQQ/SQS 23 Pair. BB's had no sonar.
    The Cruiser, Texas would be using an SQS-26B/BX sonar system, the precursor to the SQS - 53B. The SQS 26 would be a match to that sonar sound we hear in this video. russian sonar has a very different signal and sound. Depending on their ship, they had a various number of different sonar sounds and systems.
    Today, one of the primary systems in the US Navy, is the SQS- 53C that is in use and it can do all the bravo series does plus some other stuff that is classified. I know it is hard to find sound that depicts what real sonar actually sounds like online thus there are very few recordings out there for most systems and the ones that you can find, are mainly a base ping OMNI default mode. This is due to something I first mentioned - most actual sonars and the pulse, the frequencies and modes are highly classified and not public release from all navies world wide.
    Again that was information only as I am not sure what resources you have to find or come up with russian and other navy sonar sounds for this era.
    Regardless, awesome job on this Simulation. I have waited a long time for someone to do something at this level and with detail and from what I have seen so far, you have nailed it better than expected! I cannot wait to get my hands on your work and try it for real.. and of course really give you feedback! LOL ;-)

    The detail is pretty amazing. The guns recoil, the puffs of smoke from the bore evacuators, the pressure wave effect on the water. Even the SM launchers on the Texas and Farragut reloading was pretty cool. Nice to see the missiles don't just teleport into the launcher.

I do hope that they add the Des Moines-class at some point since the Newport News was in service until 1975 and it would be nice to have a US gun cruiser to go with the Soviet Sverdlov-class even if the Des Moines outguns the Sverdlov quite handily.
