Cycling Nepal: The Homeless Doggo 🇳🇵

- ■ KATHMANDU, NEPAL: Over 3 years ago, upon my first visit to Nepal, I ran into Sunil, who grew up in Nepal but is now living in America. He'd returned to help fund cancer treatment for kids whose families could not afford it. Fast forward to today, and his foundation has now helped over 122 Nepalis get treatment. Many have survived!
One of the first people he helped was a guy called Pradip. He now lives on a mountain which is about a days journey from Kathmandu. Rather than take a bus or motorbike I thought it would be more interesting to buy a bicycle and journey up there on my own to visit him and his family to congratulate him on surviving cancer.
But since I obviously don't fly around the world with a bicycle in my backpack, I first had to buy and actual bike. The first bike I looked at was one used by a hotel to cycle laundry back and forth. It was a classic timeless cycle but would've been very hard to navigate through the Kathmandu traffic on.
My search for a bicycle continued.... Down the road I saw a man deliver water bottles to shops. The bike was perfect but the owner seemed quite emotionally attached to his ride. There was only one solution: The Federales Reservos had to be rapidly deployed.
With a bicycle finally secured, and my Federal Reserves somewhat depleted, I started cycling at 7AM the next morning on the dusty streets of Kathmandu, through the historic town of Bhaktapur and ultimately up the foothills of the Himalayas.
What I thought would be a leisurely, yet exhausting bike ride, turned out to be anything but just that. Instead this bicycle adventure from Nepal's capital Kathmandu turned out to be one of the greatest adventures I've had in recent years.....

Good to see harold in Nepal again. Who wants to see harold with mr kumar again ,raise your hands 🙌. Thank you for exploring Nepal mr harold, i miss the funny conversation between you and kumar. I have watched it repeatedly!
Plenty of Kumar to come this time! And he's about twice as funny as last time. You're gonna love it

I wonder if the herald goes for kasippu hunt in Nepal 😂😂😂😂😂
You must go for next trekking Harald lantang was amazing 😌🙌
Thank you, Herald, for recognizing cancer patients. I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer almost 5 years ago and was given a 5 year life span. This coming May makes 5 years, and I am cancer free. I discovered your videos while laying in a hospital bed and through 13 surgeries and radiation and chemo treatments, Your traveling videos was a big help through all the pain. 🙏 I can't thank you enough for unknowly helping me through all these struggles, and now I plan to travel to Asia, and you're the inspiration for my planned travels. God bless you, Harold...
Your story is very rare. Your time on Earth now is a 2nd life.
What a great story! Good luck !
Thank you for your reply 🙏@socket
your so right about that. I live each day now as a blessing . 🙏@boltandcat

The way you cared for that puppy makes you a hero in my eyes.

What a horrible name: Downhill doggo! 😢
Why did u separate downhilldoggo from his siblings to gift your friend downhilldoggo lost his family????
That doggo understood the mission. Respect to you for what you do Harald. 🙏🏼
To me this video was about the puppy and as soon as Pradip's wife took it, I knew the puppy was going to be safe and happy. That's the real heartwarming story of this video.
Yes, she will be a good dog mom. :)
So much this! The doggo and her connected just instantly. And when Haraldo returns in 2 or 3 years the doggo will remember him too, you'll see :-)
Poor puppies 😢
Leopard area top hill not safe there unless doggo argentino😂😢
The only person loved by the whole Nepalese citizen is finally back in our beautiful country, we love u harald ❤ welcome back, Nepalese will always be thankful for your contributions in promoting our country all over the world 🙏 namaste
Wtf 😒 is the only person.... If you gonna address it like that then jus say it from your perspective not whole nation. Idiotic comment
The struggle to climb the hills on that bike is one thing ... the fact that you filmed yourself doing it and had to come back for the camera and do it all again Is another... I think this is an underappreciated great video.
The world could use more people like Sunil! When so many "nonprofits" turn out to just be a vehicle to make giant salaries for administrators, it is refreshing to see an organization that gives all of the money to actually help those in need.

Dude, that dog absolutely adored you, and I adored the two of you keeping each other company, seriously one of the sweetest things I’ve seen, keep up the good work my friend🫡
@annoworldbridgerthose puppies were abandoned and someone was already looking to home them..fym
I hope in a few years we get to see an update on the dog she was so precious ❤ thank you for saving her. It breaks my heart to see the others left 🥺
What about an update on the cancer survivor?
Thank you for helping, carrying, and caring for that little pup. As always, you are awesome.✌
🙏🏻
What did Harald do with the single puppy after he’d split them up? I don’t care what he does with the bike but I’m sure he would have just palmed the puppy off somewhere after he’d got the footage required. How sad.
@@Notnow1 You didn't care to find out, but made a story in your head? Actually Harald carried the puppy for 6 hours, and gave her to a newly wed couple. The puppy has a new home now.
@@Notnow1 if you had watched the whole video, you would have known that he gave the pup to pradip and his wife. Why would you assume something negative?

Masterpiece of a video. Should be nominated for an Oscar.
Thankyou Harald for giving that doggo furriend a new home 🙏 I was there in Nepal on November helping few street dogs, the life of a street dog in Nepal is very difficult. There is little in the way of hope for them, they go through a lot of cruelty🥹 The stray/stray dogs cannot help themselves, so we must give them love, care and affection ☘️❤️

As a cancer survivor myself, I am grateful for the help you are giving to others, may God bless you and give you strength through your travels ❤❤❤❤❤
I fell in love with that dog in 5 seconds and I'm on the other side of the screen. Downhill Doggo ranks legendary status, along with Jeffaldo.
Honestly the coolest dog I've ever seen. Even cooler than Panther Dog from Langtang

I love everything about this video: Harald, the wonderful people of Nepal, the puppy and also the coat of arms of my country on the Haralds cap:) Thank You for this! I visited Nepal in 2019 and this is one of my favorite countries, primarily because of the good people. I have also been watching this channel since 2019. My greetings from Ukraine!

The best part of this video is how you cared for that puppy and most probably saved its life. Not many people can say they rode a bike (broken) uphill and saved a life. Thanks for sharing the kindness to us all. Love your videos
Thanks for buying that cycle and making his day. Your Langtang episodes were some of the best vlogs on internet. Hope you will visit other Himalayan areas this time.

Thanks Harold ! Your videos always put me in a good mood❤ glad to call you my friend
I dare you to watch this entire vid running at 16km/h on the threadmill as I know that's where you normally watch them😎
Yes thank you Northman for doing some new travels!!
Do you watch his videos.... AT 3AM?!
Bro are you in Nepal ?? ❤❤❤ nice to see you bro
Yes his videos are exemplary and the catalyst to feeling good about people God and animals .., feeling great about being alive
I loved all your sri lankan videos but this felt a lot more than anything else. The kindness, love of the Northman towards the Down Hill Doggo, almost made me cry. The support for the needy people and the courage you showed to complete the journey is remarkable.
I would love to have a president like you in Sri Lanka. ❤❤❤
This is what makes Haralds channel above the rest. I have never been out of my country , the United States. We've grown accustomed to a certain lifestyle, become spoiled, and forget how others have it. Watching these videos always amazes me how people survive, and how strong humans truly are. Can see how much Harald struggled with the bike but nothing compares to those cancer patients. But as he demonstrated, with the correct mindset, support and some tender loving care, anything’s possible.
Thanks heraldo going to my home country enjoy your trip love wht u doing keep shining

My goodness Harald, I have never ever seen anyone in my entire life who has come from another part of the world to trek on foot for hours on end to meet and to give love and hope to a cancer survivor whom you don't even know much.
