My back pain relieves from conventional deadlifts and stays better for almost the whole week after the following day of training. Guess I'm the wierdo here😆
I'm definitely a sumo guy. Long spine, short femurs. One of my Jiu Jitsu buddies snapped a picture of me resting on the mat the other day with my legs out in front of me, and I looked like a chimpanzee sitting there. Ha ha!
I'm long legs, short torso, but I prefer sumo. I was just using it as a lighter variation, but as I was able to easily handle it, it caught up to the weights I was using for conventional. With my anatomy I still have a mostly horizontal back angle, but less so than with conventional.
My sumo feels better due to hip/back anatomy and prior injuries- I get less pain on sumo vs conventional so the choice was easy for me. I actually have long legs, long arms and an average torso. Sometimes you have to do what feels right for your body (especially if you’re about to crack 40, like me)
I believe, both are good,to even out muscle imbalances. If "Conventional Deadlift" I use "Sumo style" as an Assistance exercise, to workout on muscle of lower back and hips, whilst giving lower back a "Break" If someone is" Sumo" use "Conventional Deadlift to even out some imbalances.
I do both as an experiment and sumo i can pull more weight, but i like convetional because it's harder to do, so it feels amazing when i hit a pr vs. when I do sumo, it's much easier so it feels like cheating and when i hit my pr with conventional i feel like im on top of the world with all the adrenaline pumping though my vains.
I think majority of the population would lift more weight with sumo. But conventional would have a better carryover to other lifts. So, Do sumo if goal= lift max weight possible. Do conventional if goal = become a all-round better athelete. Or just supplement both in your training program to reap the benifits of both.
@@berserkemblem2091 highly doubt it…there’s a ton of people that show off their 600-700 lbs sumos but would round their spine trying to do conventional at the 500s lol
It’s weird for me. Sometimes sumo feels great. Sometimes conventional feels great. Right now I’m having trouble getting into a starting position with sumo, and conventional isn’t giving me problems.
Same proportions as you and I also pull the same amount for both sumo and conventional. I pull sumo because I have a messed up back and I feel that sumo puts my back in a "safer" position. Also, I want to continue with Olympic weightlifting and according to Juggernaut's own Max Aita, weightlifters should pull sumo because pulling conventional could introduce bad habits into the first pull of the clean. Contrary to what certain coaches may say, the first pull of the clean is *not* the same as a conventional deadlift, but they are similar enough that the nervous system could get "confused."
I have loner legs but get back pain when I deadlift conventional and I’ve practised form from powerlifters in the gym and it’s juts hurts sumo is clear

I mostly stick with sumo because whenever I do conventional, my lower back aches, but with sumo it doesn't.
Yeah, conventional hurts my back
I think that’s why I plan on making the switch. As much as I love conventional even with near perfect form sometimes it can still be a little iffy
same, I can't do a proper conventional
Same here. Plus, I find sumo less taxing so I can lift sumo more frequently

I mostly stick with sumo because i have long legs but short arms so it’s somewhat hard to get comfortable in conventional but i’m implementing it soon
I pull sumo; long arms, shorter legs.
Yup long legs & arms and short torso, definitely conventional for me :D tried sumo a couple times for fun, and it wasn't fun XD

Short legs and a longer torso but still pull conventional
I learned conventional first and I have the long arms/legs and short torso so it works well.

I train both. I definitely prefer sumo for my back but conventional is easier to grip for some reason.

i do conventionoal in back daays, and sumo in leg day. i have frecuency 4 of deadlift

I love conventional, but I'm using sumo to strengthen my weak glutes and VMO's.
I just like conventional more even though I might be stronger with sumo
Short torso long legs but I can pull more with sumo. Weak hamstrings?
or back
@@felipebulhoes-squatlife349 didn't think of that thank you. Good mornings to hit both?
@@georgemelissinos9128 yes. Good mornings and stiff legged deads for addressing weak hams and lower back.
This is a really uninformed video, the best sumo deadlifters all have long legs and a short torso.
Both. Get good at both. Snatch deficit deadlifts are supreme to convention anyway.
Conventional personally doesn’t feel comfortable for my lower back but sumo feels fine
Long torso, short legs and wingspan=height.
I pull the same in both so i dont have a clue on what to do lol

Do both for extended periods of time (for years). You might find that you are stronger in one stance.

what if im 5'2 with both short arms and short legs but long torso?
Sumo
Somewhat long arms very long legs and I’m pretty tall so I pull conventional
I’ve tried both my body does a lot better sumo and I feel more comfortable and my breathing is more on point
I fall into the weird Ed Coan type of body but I discovered powerlifting age 38.🙄
I literally cant do sumo cant pull the weight up
There is the right way to deadlift and there is sumo.
Why would it be permitted on powerlifting competitions then?
Haha yes sir!
@@claudiocerezo1644 they allow some stupid stuff on powerlifting meets
i do sumo because im not gay
If you don't like men, then I'd say conventional.
Trap bar
but sumo is gay or am i miss informed?
Conventional forever
Neither. Unless you’re competing in dead lift competition there’s absolutely no reason to do this
Nice troll
sumo its way safer
Long arms short torso gang laughing at everyone else's puny leverages
How much you bench bro?
@@MarcoPeyrano Some horribly small amount, for the same exact reason deadlifts are easy. It's a gift and a curse 😂
Yeah, but I kick ass on squats. :)
Ahhh the age old question, should you sumo or should you be a man
I still dont get how sumo isnt best for everyone. You move the bar less distance in sumo so it should be best for any body type

Anyone knows why my hips hurt so much when I do sumo ? With conventional is so easy but sumo is harder for me it doesn’t make sense 🥲
