    Mike Tomaro makes sure that every section gets into the act in this uplifting arrangement of the megahit by Pharrell Williams. The "breakdown" section features clapping by the band members while the trombones carry the lead. The solo section is open for anybody who happens to be in a happy mood and wants to show it!

      Bass players get the heck time of their lives with a lot of jazz songs. We just had a concert when we played Chameleon by Herbie Hancock. And the bass has an awesome part. It's so awesome! :D

      Jordan Holland Or is it Bb blues? exempt f#

    • @WoHJosh
      @WoHJosh 9 лет назад +1

      From the looks of it no... I think you can use your G major scale (F in concert pitch) however that's a very big if because I'm new to this stuff so it might not work out.

    • @funboxtha3rd
      @funboxtha3rd 9 лет назад +2

      Jordan Holland In this particular arrangement the chord changes are tighter than other songs, so it's not as easy to get bye with a single scale without it sounding out of place because the rhythm section is locked into those changes. The solo section of this arrangement deviates from the chord structure of the rest of the song so radically that I wouldn't attempt it until you're more practiced in soloing over chord changes.

    Maybe give that part to the Trumpets so the Trombone 1 isn't playing a whole octave higher, praying to God their lips don't fall off.

      JunkionMarnot2005 Don't forget that John Berry's version is a grade 2 (for much younger bands) while this is a grade 4

  • @cmlrun11

    Felt like the melody in the saxophones was hidden by the overpowering trumpets. Were there too many ego-driven trumpets on this recording, or what was Tomaro thinking with the imbalance?

    • @schloob
      @schloob 6 лет назад +1

      The saxes and trombones get melody in this though

    • @s65kx
      @s65kx Год назад +1

      @@schloob nah what hes saying is that at 1:23, where the saxes get the main melody its kind of being washed over by the trumpets in a way. so he's just asking if that was intentional by the composer or if the trumpets was jus a lil too loud

    • @schloob
      @schloob Год назад +1

      @@s65kx yea idk what me 5 years ago was thinking cus the trumpets definitely overpower the saxes and trombones. At the time I played trumpet in band so I was the ego-driven trumpet player he was talking about unable to see his point lmao. “Trumpets?? Too loud??? I don’t understand these words” lol
