Why can't we all go back to the 80's? I mean, let's bring the 80's back! The colours, the hairstyle, the MUSIC! Today's musical landscape is a lifeless desert comparable with the Moon. Looks like people have been creating so-called 'music' merely in order to function as a silence-breaker... Being born in 78, I was just a kid in the 80's. It was cool to be a kid back then, with He-Man action figures and all, but how I wish I had enjoyed the magical decade as a young adult, or at least as a teenager! If you guys have, consider yourself very privileged! As for Aimée Mann and 'Til Tuesday, I just can't stop listening to Voices Carry ever since I discovered it about a week ago. My God, the melody! The lyrics, the creativity! WE NEED THE 80's BACK!!
Back in ‘85 I saw them playing at Woody’s Roadhouse in Massachusetts. It was late at night and you could tell they were exhausted from so many shows in a row. I believe this was their third one that day. I was able to stand front and center to the stage, five feet away from Aimee. As I was looking up at her it felt like a wonderful, surreal dream. She was every bit as beautiful and sweet as I had imagined. Voices Carry was their only hit but you could tell they were destined to be a force in music. Probably the best experience of my life 😍
Who ever underrated this band? Either you loved them or were not exposed. Or had a subjective opinion which is fine. I sometimes read a comment claiming the Beatles or any particular member was "underrated". If that can be said about the most successful band in history it could be said about anyone and have the same complete lack of interpreting what "underrated" means. This band was HUGE in the 1980s. But not all huge bands have a stint at remaining huge for vast periods of time. The thing about this band is with a different production could most likely be as huge now as they were in the 80's. The 80's were a time where music was so mixed and it is still like that now. Difference is now a "band" are "artist" can become huge because they look the part. Back then you had to actually be a musician and artist as well.
She has one of the most distinctive and beautiful voices I have ever heard. I remember them when I was a kid in the ‘80s. Great band. She is very special.
Incredible song! I was born in 1972 and I grew up in the 1980’s when this song was made, and I just discovered it. If you are interested this is Saturday October 26, 2024. Tom Sisson
The haunting voice of Aimee Mann and the accompaniment always give me a mixed feeling. The happiness that was then and the gloominess which is NOW. The 80s were the best part of my life for it somehow prepared me for 2023 and up.
There were many reasons why the song wasn't big. It has the same song title with Heart " What about Love" that came out almost around the same time. Plus the song and video was pretty dark and gritty for a mid 80's material. Had this came out around 1989 to 91, it probably would have charted even higher. It was just bad timing for the song including the music video.
@@philliplandry4139 Make sense... i've just discovered this band in 2024... and i think "what about love" is definately the best song of 'Til Tuesday... and was thinking... why this song is not the "best song"
@xaxaportilho I'd first found out about this band in 2001 when I saw their music video "Voices Carry" on VH1 retro. For me, this song really tops over Voices Carry because it doesn't sound like a particular song from a specific decade. What I mean is, it aged very well and still sounds fresh til this day. There were a lot of songs, whether or not they were popular, that they shouldn't come out or belong in the mid 80s. For example, Suzanne Vega "Luka". Yeah, it was a big hit in 1987, but it wasn't really popular until the early 90s and became an encore for the hipster generation in the late 2000s to early 2010s. Another one was "Momument" from the Sound in 1982. If you close your eyes, not guess who it was, and listen. You would think it came out in the mid to late 90s. A lot of people who are late Gen X and Millenials like to talk smack about the 80s and love every bit of the 90s. They don't realize 90% of the choreography of music and movies in the 90s were heavily influenced or started in the 80s.
This is such an underrated and unknown song. What a GREAT song. Wow, it's quintessentially 80s, but also timeless. . . . What a great song. Beautiful song. Just beautiful. . . Very emotional, very moving and very well written in all aspects.

Yes, the guitar solo is simple yet great, not expecting that sound during that era, because I don't remember anything close to that solo during the middle to late 80s. I was mostly listening to new wave and industrail during that time, but was forced to listen to pop as it was playing everywhere.

Those dance moves really bring you into the time period. I was only 1 when this song came out but I must have heard it when I was small because this song has danced in my brain off and on for 38 years now. Timeless, wondrous, and phenomenal music.
Everybody talking about going back. That time was about the clothes, the hair, the sound, the angst to get free. It was a time to grow, but also a very special time to remember. I was 16 when this came out and as Blake would say: Man I lived it.
Both good songs, but Voices Carry was better. This song is more repetitive. I was a Sr in High School when Voices was released. It was ahead of its time and still gets to me.

I always thought that this was 'Til Tuesday's best song. Aimee Mann's voice is so emotive. Very few of today's women can hold a candle to her as a complete musician.
How the hell did this song not sit at the top of the charts for weeks on end? She is amazing. The song is awesome and should be re-released. I love 'Til Tuesday's music. They really don't make music the way they used to years ago. I like some of the bands today, but there was so much talent and real song making back then with out all the boxed up cr^p we hear today.

Aimee Mann is absolutely beautiful in both form and function. A truly beautiful talented lady. Til Tuesday is pitifully underrated. True talent -lyrically, musically and in presentation. I really think if nobody ever heard of Til Tuesday-- this song and video; aside from a few minor changes could pass as something created today. Aimee Mann was very avant-garde. I really think if nobody ever heard of Til Tuesday-- this song and video; aside from a few minor changes could pass as something created today. Aimee Mann was very avant-garde. She is definitely one of my favorites! BTW I do like this song much more than Voices Carry. I miss the 80s.....ignorance was truly bliss! Would love to go back even for just one day!
Brent Crabtree yes Brent the joys of being Young and unaffected by adulthood and everything that it entails I'm Africa American and love till Tuesday and many other bands from our era however now we're able to appreciate life however much of it we have left more Fully because of bands like till Tuesday who gave us there best shot
The thing though is that it's way better than today.
I mostly agree with all u said here.
I agree. IMHO, there are a few songs on their debut album that are much better than "Voices Carry", e.g. "On Sunday" is a perfectly written pop gem.
Agree on all points.
the guitar work on this is so good.
Still one of my favorite bands ever! Aimee rocks!
Well maybe although I prefer Rush! Geddy Lee admitted he loved her voice & that’s why he invited her to do a couple of songs 🫶🏻🇨🇦
One of my all time classic favourites
The best Til Tuesday song, it stills rips deeply at my heart to this day.
My favorite song from the band ms mann i adore you love your voice and your talent is out of this World thank you for your music .
The song is very unusual. The beat of music does something strange to my emotions. I love it!
Same here.
@@DukeLitoAurelius It's very hypnotic it takes me back to the early to mid-80s, it makes me think about the moments that are gone forever.
This song rips my heart out 💔😢but i always have to come back for the few minutes of musical genius 🖤
What a great voice.
I grew up in the 80's and just first heard this song now, what a gem.
Great Til Tuesday song and Aimee Mann is a great singer and underrated also a great era for music glad i was able to live through it

que recuerdos.....Aimee mann....
Great song by one of the most underrated bands. Best of times the 80s.
I saw them at the Cellar Door in DC. What a great venue and what a great group! They were so under-rated!
Aimee's voice is SO beautiful.
I love Aimee's voice..So smooth and sultry...She sounds a lot like Chrissie Hynde in this ditty.
OMG! One of my all-time fave albums. Love Aimee's voice. Love the band. Never gets old.
How bloody good is this track?! So amazing, I could have this on repeat all date and never get tired of it!
My favorite song of til tursday
It's Forever 80s for me . I live every day those rocking years
Funny how a song can take you to a particular place and time.
Now that's a Freakin Great Song!!
The lead guitar solo - holy damn! Cements the song
LOVE this guitar solo !!!!!
De los mejores "solos", de guitarra pop de toda la época de los 80'..sin duda....
