Too bad the masses are too stupid to recognise true talent, us real fans of beautiful music will always be there to show willing listeners what good music really is.

MTV wanted 2 songs submitted for a possible choosing of a video. This and Voices Carry were submitted and MTV chose Voices Carry for airplay.
If this is a recent picture of you, don't sell yourself short - I think you're more attractive than Aimee. Besides, what's makes someone alluring is so much more than appearance. In Aimee Mann's case, her songwriting and performing talents go a long way toward attracting people.

I will say that between Aimee Mann and Neko Case, there is something about singer/songwriters born on September 08th (Pink as well) that has quite the effect on me. All of their respective voices seem to strike a chord in me. Besides, my personal tastes in women are generally brunettes and redheads (not that redheads are healthy for me) - I think I can count on two fingers the number of blondes I've dated. And yes, Aimee is also quite attractive herself (not that my opinion truly matters to anyone else). I remember standing around with a drink about 10 feet from Amy Mann listening to them play in a small club when they were still virtually unknown. You knew they were going to get big. Incredibly tight live. Pretty soon there were lines down the street just to get in and see them, then they just couldn't play that small a room anymore.

Hell, I missed all this good stuff from Amy Mann. The only thing I remember of her's was " Voices Carry". Seems that Amy's music wasn't main stream enough for the radio in the eighties, also, I guess I was too busy (and too poor) working and raising kids to have noticed. Good to have the time now to appreciate some poetry and good tunes.
Jesus, the end of "No more crying" at 31:50 actually makes me cry. When she screams at the end man together with that classic-powerful new wave guitar and awesome bass line ... just beautiful. This is the kind of stuff we used to hear back then when we were kids. Sometimes I feel sorry for the kids nowadays when I hear what they are listening to. it's really poor music... if you can call it that.
Aimee's eyes are stunning in both in b&w and color. This was such a great debut album for her & the band. She disappeared off the charts until 14 years later with her fabulous work on the Magnolia (1999) soundtrack . She is super talented.

I had the extreme good fortune to be behind the sound board in the 80's in the Boston/RI scene. Amy was always wonderful to work with, even when we were the warm up band. Many Boston bands were jerks just because they could be. Then they started to show up in clubs where I was. More than one Boston soundman became my buddy cuz I got to f--k their band so hard they had to pay their sound guy $$$ to come to RI. But I always worked with them as they made my life easier up in Beantown. It was all good. Too bad there is nothing of Robert Hunters band Ultra Blue. Post TT, it was a killer blues band.

Her smile was everything and the voice of a million angels singing all at once. Oh man the 80s were the best. God what I wouldn't give to go back for just a few hrs. The 80's had way to many big bands with multiple hit songs, it was a golden era but the problem was that there were a lot of bands that didnt got the attention they deserved, like this band
This got some rotation in Dallas on KEGL, Eagle 97. I was surprised at the low chart position. Seemed like a solid follow up. I like it even better now.
Now that's a bass intro, and a fine hook - goddamn I miss the 80s. Not their most sophisticated or best, but a very entertaining 4 mins and always good to hear this song. Aimee still rocking it but the hair style stayed behind - we all have to move on but damn she looks amazing in this video.
She should have kept the same hairstyle, but maybe minus the Jedi braid tail. It would still look cool & sexy in today's times, but most women would have to be in their 20's or early 30's to pull it off.

Very cool to know that I saw these guys at a place called book gangs in San Francisco when I was 15 and I was right up to the stage and got to see her plucking That Bass until she broke a string. she's really good at that thing, and the band sounded completely stellar. I don't know if it was the Acoustics in that small club or what but it sounded sweet really sweet.
I remember seeing these guys when they were together for like 3 months, right before the won the Boston battle of the bands that totally launched their careers. I feel lucky.

Aimee's bass in this is fricking amazing. And then on top of it she has that incredible voice. Also, I'm very certain this version is a different one from the album. I listen to this song all the time, and this version is... well... better! There's additional synth in the first verse, and the bass doesn't have as much reverb on it in the intro.

Consummate professional. As a professional musician myself, I wish to live up to that. I've been burdened by vices, but Aimee, well there was that MTV anti-drug PSA, but moving along, she is inspiration to so many millions. I don't know her personally and I don't know how she feels about her Till Tuesday hairstyle but it was and is the bomb and I wear it myself today. Aimee's bass in this is fricking amazing. And then on top of it she has that incredible voice.
Also, I'm very certain this version is a different one from the album. I listen to this song all the time, and this version is... well... better! There's additional synth in the first verse, and the bass doesn't have as much reverb on it in the intro.

ですけれども、一回聴いただけでもう、それだけで大好きになった数少ない名曲だと思うのです😂
