Wow. This just brought me back to 94 when I purchased my first brand new Honda civic hatchback Si. It was exactly the same one as this one with the same interior. Man....almost brought tears to this man's eyes. Can't wait to see the final results of this short series. Thanks Mike and the AHC Garage crew. You guys are too cool.
Ugh. My absolute dream car except for the red. The most perfect stock car from factory. My goodness. This thing is beautiful. It breaks my heart knowing I’ll never be able to get my hands on one of these in a decent condition at a fair price. Thank you for this video. Can’t wait till the next video. 😢💔👏💯🙌
My first Honda was a 92' Civic Hatchback SI in Flamenco Black Pearl. Had a DC header, RS Akimoto intake and a Tanabe exhaust. Had it lowered on Neuspeed/Koni coilovers with 5 Zigen N1R Div. 3 wheels wrapped in Yokohama AVS wheels. I loved that thing and thought it was the fast Civic around! Great video, it really brings me back to my street racing heyday. Can't wait to see the progress on this refresh!!!
What a gem. Great video - thanks for taking the time to share so many details of this unmolested example, as well as all of the work that you captured and explained. While I appreciate the desire most car owners feel to modify their rides, I respect those who work hard to retain the originality of their cars (especially models like this one). I'm grateful to see someone investing in the restoration/preservation of this Civic Si. They'll end up with a great time capsule worth enjoying not only for the unique experience it provides, but also as a reminder of the era it represents, now long gone.
I bought a 1998 all original Civic ex Coupe with only 61,000 miles. Literally perfect condition inside and out, except for minor paint imperfections. For very very cheap ! I’m so surprised, I hardly even drive it aha
I had one of these back in 2005 oh man I wish I would have never got rid of it. It was exactly like that same interior and red minus the CD player. I would love to have one of those right now just to drive around
Love an unmolested EG, I’m sure it was a cost issue for the owner, but I wish you’d guys just go ahead and repair and respray the whole car to do it the justice it deserves
An amazing detailer could make the rest of th paint pop as an option too, but some front ends just can’t be saved no matter the detailing! Just depends on the condition. I’m sure it’ll look amazing when done!
@@ahcgarage Element SC would be a great choice. I bought an 08 SC in Root Beer Metallic brand new in 2008. Sold it in 2014 to buy my motorcycle, but the Element was a great car.
This will be interesting,I have a red 92 si hatch with 462 thousand kms on it with a tired engine as it’s got such low compression,I would love to restore it because it’s been such a good car🚗 Greetings from British Columbia 🇨🇦
Wonderful cars. I can't stress that enough. I've been driving mine for the better part of 11 years. The D16Z6 is very underrated and a ton of fun. I've been on the fence about selling both of mine but it's too much fun to sell. I can't bring myself to do it.
Interesting episode guys, that old Civic is in excellent condition for it's age and that interior is very clean and fresh looking, looking forward to the next instalment 👍 John UK.
I was just thinking, I sure hope AHC has a segment on the EG series soon. And lo’ and behold! Finally!!! I have a 92 HB and I’ve been pondering, what would AHC do. Now I know!
My 92 (dated 1/27/92) HB is a Frost White CX with no modifications except for some white 15” Rega Masters. Complete blue interior with OEM blue leather seats. Has only 80k on the original D15B8, 8. Valve non vtech motor. Only produces 71 squirrel power. Unfortunately it’s never been garaged so I been replacing all the door trims. Even had the wiper arms re-powder coated. OEM Parts are very hard to find.
Thanks for sharing that with us here. That's a great project vehicle, a true classic. Oem parts are getting harder and harder to find, but most are still available. Please grab them while you can.
The JDM Civic Si-R EG6 did indeed have an automatic gear box mated to the B16A as an option, albeit, VERY VERY RARE. You'd probably only see it in a museum.
A lot of stuff is discontinued, but a LOT is still available. I use Majestic Honda, I'm on the east coast and they are great. You can get brand new front lips, window trim, windshield trim (I might have gotten the last of some of these). Si only came in manual, pretty sure you could get dx, lx, and ex in auto or manual, vx I believe was manual only. EX was basically the si in a coupe with power windows. 92-93 si/ex had no abs, and rear drums, but bigger front calipers than the rest. 94-95 ex/si had abs and rear disk. Use spray silicone on the rubber the windows slide in and it will make the window operation insanely easy. The tracks are almost never what need to be regreased.
Yes, some of these trim items are still available, which is a total surprise. As for the window channel, we like to use Honda Shin-Etsu Silicone Grease. It doesn't dry up like most silicone spray.
As always Brian doing excellent work. One thing I’ve never understood, Is why not just paint the whole car since the car is being painted more than half and when it comes to blending, hood, fenders and doors, isn’t the rear not going to match since paint is older/contaminated? I’m no near to know about paint/work, just curious 😬👍🏼
Thank you for this!!! If you end up doing the suspension work could you possibly lay down torque specs cause I’m a geek like that and I take notes! Love you guys for this!

In the UK all our sunroofs are metal and go rusty. Never realised you got glass ones in USA. Are they all glass or do you get metal ones aswell?
Some models are metal as well, like the 88-91 Civic and CRX. Also, even the sunroof/moonroof with glass, the frame is metal so it rusts as well.
