Thanks for the video! Worked like a charm for my 2008 Smart Fortwo Passion. Couple of notes: Like others have said, the little plastic pin on the end of the door near the first 2 screws for the handle does nothing. Leave it alone. My car has manual side mirrors, so I did not fully remove them, just left them dangling, but loose. When putting the panel back on, I struggled until I noticed there was "hook" or catch on the far end near the door handle. Start there, hooking it in place, then work your way around the bottom.

This video was really helpful and useful but it seems like it was made right after the air-raid sirens went off in Normandy and they thought "we better get to shelter, but we need to hurry up and finish this video first". Probably could have taken an extra few minutes to do a second take :P But thanks nevertheless!

Getting the panel off was easy, but I have been working on getting the panel back on for two days! I start from the rear hook just below the removed outside door handle I can get the rear of the panel and most of the bottom of the panel slid on but when I get to the bottom front corner I can not get it to go on! Anyone out there have any suggestions????? Please!!!!!

Can any one tell me how to remove the inner door handle on the passenger side please ? Mine is loose at the top near the electric window switch so im looking to fix it back on, but cant see any clips or screw holes. Im assuming the fastening must be under the main part of the triangular shaped part of the handle. Any help in how and which way to lever this off would be appreciated thanks

You don’t have to remove the door panel anymore this is the old way. The new way is you will have to break out the old speaker cover and speaker inside and then with the clip connected to wires cut that off. Then from there you can add female connectors to the wires and hook it up to the plus and minus sign on the speaker and drill the new holes to mount the speaker and speaker cover.

But I do agree the stock speakers have good bass! And sound pretty good for being factory speakers, but imagine what it will sound like with better aftermarket speakers!

@@vacuousfilms1560 I’ve tried with 2 Smart Fortwo already and the bass is horrible. You have to angle the whole speaker towards you to feel any bass. I’ve fabricated some angle spacer rings to get the effect of bass but very little is produced when the doors are closed. The OEM speakers are fine enough now that I think about it. The guy who hooked up my new pioneer said it was pretty loud but I don’t think he knows much about destructive interference.

That pin by the door handle doesn't have a damn thing to do with any of this. Leave it alone.

Ugh you can legit remove the interior trim instead of the exterior panel to do the speaker…
