    The performance is more amazing knowing that it was live instead of studio... And Matt's solo drop to bass gets me every time.

    I agree. They sound beautiful. Too bad unnecessary drums took away Kevin's chance to show how incredible HE sounds live too. What gets people freaked out when they hear Pentatonix is that it sounds like instruments are being played. Yet it's all being done by human voices.
    They are performing this on tour, sans drums, and it sounds amazing! That makes me think there was no looping in the official video, requiring drums to cover during a live performance while Kevin does something else.
    I think it's a slap in the face to Kevin, and it's been 8 years of this sort of thing. Time for Kevin to be shown some respect.

      Maschelle Mashburn actually drums were used in the studio version as well

      I know right! I miss the way they used to be sooo strict on what acapella is, and it is a style without instruments. Like on the live performances back when Avi was still in the group you almost never seen them using instruments apart from kevens chello every so often

      It’s less strain on his voice though and who says music styles can’t evolve?

    • @ianesgrecia8568
      @ianesgrecia8568 3 года назад

      The fact that they can do so much with their voices is still limited that they are only five people. The addition of instruments just makes it richer than it already is

  • @oliw2793

    I'm staggered at how both Matt and Scott were practically pitch perfect. Matt hit every single note flawlessly, he sounded identical to the studio version.
    I still think back to the amazing Avi and miss his input but can't deny that Matt brings an added warmth and richness to the bass that really has lifted this group to a new standard.

    • @BigTJK
      @BigTJK 3 года назад +1

      Scott's lower range and Matt's base are closer so more Matt/Scoott harmonies are possible and are a great counterpoint to the Mitch/Kirstin ones. That wasn't possible with Avi. Also I think Matt's higher range is better and purer than Avi's, as brilliant as he was.

    • @drogna3905

      Matt brings his own kind of magic to the group. Much as I love Avi, I think Matt is a better fit.

    Rooooooooobbbb!!!
    Could not have said it better myself. (I blubbered right along with you) Some people may not understand why we feel the way we do about these kids but, I have watched them grow up practically.
    You too? Been watching them almost from the beginning. . . There's no way to make that sound less creepy. Just wonder how far they'll go.
    They just keep getting better and better.
    Thank you for your time and honest reactions to the videos you do. I have my favorites that I watch, ( did I just hear someone holler, STRANGER DANGER?) I've seen some " reacters" lay it on (drama) pretty thick and I don't
    believe em.
    Once again, thank you Rob.
    Until next time I peep in your window. . . (Fluttering eye lashes)

    As much as I love Hallelujah my favorite is Sound of Silence. From that first note Scott reaches out to you through the screen for into the audience and just latches onto you and hold you in. He has never let go of me since. The fact that they sound the same live as they do on their video is a testament to just how outstanding they are. I really wonder how much time they been rehearsing. I know it has to be a lot because the product they put out is Sao Paulo. I love watching you react because you allow us to see your emotions. The purpose of art is to connect with a person on an emotional level. And the more visceral that reaction the greater the connection and meaning that that piece of art has for the person taking it in. We not only get your mental perspective on it but we also get your emotional, physical, even spiritual reaction and that a vulnerability that you show I commend because so many reactors stop themselves. I really hope you enjoyed yourself at La concert.

    I feel the same way, Rob. Those are my babies. Have you seen Brian Justin Crum's mom in the audience when he sings "Creep" on America's Got Talent? That's me. She's not just a proud parent. She's a proud parent silently telling the world, "Just you wait."

    I think the drummers apperance is to back up kevin due to the fact that the place is on an open area not like a on a closed space. In which sound travel is all over and not concentrated in a specific space. Oh well thats my two cents in it and peace out👍👍👍😁😁😁

    If you haven't already done a reaction to their live performance at the Wicked 15th Anniversary special, you really should. It's fabulous. Here's the best link: ruclips.net/video/Rpgc5RihEXs/видео.html& Mitch and Kirsten are darling together and they're all in fabulous voice. I checked your Pentatonix playlist and I could find it, so I thought you might have missed it.
