I wouldn’t be happy if I was receiving that bike, the running in procedure says it shouldn’t be run at more than 44mph in 5th gear for the first 300 miles. This is very important on Royal Enfield’s as the engines are not run at the factory the way Japanese or European bikes are and if you want to bed the engine components in correctly and ensure the engine runs smoothly and reliably then the procedure needs to be followed carefully. The maximum speeds in each gear given in the owners manual and varying the speed by 10%, avoiding full throttle and not labouring the engine as well as not running it for more than 1 hour continuously are very important.
Rode this beautiful bike around town mostly. The road run was very short. RE has a hit on their hands with this one. Wondering if they are going to make a 500 Meteor?
@@forgottenmotorcycles unlikely, they would have to develop a new engine. In India where the overwhelming majority of Enfield are sold the 350 engine size sells way, way more than the 500. The bikes are really designed for the Indian market, the rest of us are lucky that they choose to sell some bikes to be sold to the rest of the world. They could chose to make a Himalayan with the 650 twin engine from the Interceptor. I have a euro 4 Himalayan which has similar performance to the new meteor.
@@sergentcolon1 I don't know enough about the engines to say whether it's a new design or not for sure. The salesman and the mechanic told me it was all new engine. The bike had great brakes for a 350. Thinking they worked better than the brakes on my Shadow. I'm all for ABS. Does Dual Channel mean that both the front and the back have ABS? Thanks
ABS has been made mandatory for two-wheelers in India above 150cc.. and the world is benefiting from these economies of scale. Pretty much every motorcycle exported to the US from India carries Dual channel ABS now.
No, it's not amazing that a mid size motorcycle has a main stand, in my day virtually all bikes had em, it's only more recently with the sports bikes has its use declined
Thanks for the review. For grins, watch this India towing test by the Meteor 350 (yes, a small car towing test at time 7:35): ruclips.net/video/HQCaXst_wNQ/видео.html
In most European countries we have a 40-50 mph legal limit, with 65 mph on the motorways. It also must comply with A2 and be Euro5 certified. It's not made for the US market, it's designed for India and Europe, hence the rickrack gear shifter.

And you'll find the flap on the petrol cap is also chrome plastic, but at the price it's acceptable
I'll take a closer look next time. Thanks.
the cap works fine and the cap itself seems solid metal.
Great Video, but that Harley in the background is so beautiful it is very distracting!
Yes, I walked in the door of Baxter Cycle and it was sitting there, right next to the Meteor. I don't think that was a coincidence. I've got a true weakness for old Sportsters. Here is the video I made of that 59 XLCH.ruclips.net/video/Y5P10d5i-tE/видео.html Thanks!
Nice bike but would be to small for me. Wish they had those type of wheels on the RE intercepted, instead of spokes.
You'd be surprised by how this bike rides. Main limitation of this motorcycle would be its limited top speed. Another great RE. Wahoo!
Now when you ride the Bullet 500 you will get a feel for how the bike from the 3rd world country has evolved in 10 years , the Bullet is primitive , a design from 60 years ago , for me it's so primitive it's endearing but from your review I'm guessing radically different
You've got one good looking bike. Can't wait to see it again!
@flyinbiker2001 ..You reply show your mindset and personality.... Bullet 500 is a awsome bike . people know what they are getting at
@@interstellargod6959 --- Keith stopped by to do a review on my Bullet to see the differences between Bullet & Meteor , the video will be posted shortly

Valve adjustment intervals seems short.
I agree, it is. Wondering why that is and hoping they improve this.
@@forgottenmotorcycles i think in time these tings could change.i remember honda insisting that valves be checked on 1st service.not any more on that model
@@johnbellamy6449 when I did my first valve check everything was perfect no adjustment needed.
Goodvinformation
Thanks. It's a nice bike.
The sportster is more impressive. But I to own a Royal Enfield.
Sportster is a great bike too. Love both but one is a third the cost. Wahoo!
It's got wheels and everything
Two :)
All nonsense , there is enough proof that running in hard is better.
@@ekimandersom4478 not with Enfield. You think you know better than the manufacturer?
Have also seen several Indian videos touting the engine is all new. Have not been able to ride the Himalayan yet but I'm looking forward to that soon. It looks like a beautiful bike. Thanks
here in Germany the service is every 10'000km and 191kg. if i'll get the money (4000euro) the bike is mine :_:
That's better than I thought. Hoping I made an error on the service numbers. I'll try to verify it. It's a great bike. Thanks!
@@forgottenmotorcycles is on the official site of RE Germany. :_:
If you find one available in Germany.
They cannot even deliver in India.
@@ekimandersom4478 i did read they are already here :-)

I want one but i am struggling with the 20hp.
In Germany the average speeds are pretty high.
You forgot to mention - Dual channel ABS
The bike had great brakes for a 350. Thinking they worked better than the brakes on my Shadow. I'm all for ABS. Does Dual Channel mean that both the front and the back have ABS? Thanks
@@forgottenmotorcycles Yes, both front and back brakes have independent braking circuits
ABS has been made mandatory for two-wheelers in India above 150cc.. and the world is benefiting from these economies of scale. Pretty much every motorcycle exported to the US from India carries Dual channel ABS now.
@@pranay220 I'm all for good brakes. Thanks!

The on-road price of this motorbike in India is USD 3000.
Very good price for a great bike. You've had them in India for some time. How does the bike do over time? Thanks!
4000€ in Germany
$4500 in the US, out door price closer to $6000
No, it's not amazing that a mid size motorcycle has a main stand, in my day virtually all bikes had em, it's only more recently with the sports bikes has its use declined
Not sure how many manufacturer selling in the USA that have a center stand stock.
They all have them, just nowadays they make you pay for it extra.
And you need it if you wanna maintain the chain easily.
@@ekimandersom4478 I know I wish I had one on my old Ironhead Sportster. Would be nice for oiling the chain.
@@ekimandersom4478 extra for a center stand. So stupid. Here in India we get it as standard 🙏🏽
Personally I am not a fan of the base model, especially the yellow, I think the supernova is a better option in its two tone metallic paint
Can't wait to see the new SuperNova on the floor.
It's all about personal choices sir. Some prefer the fireball some prefer stellar and others supernova
Why does the speedometer go to 120 mph when the top speed is only 70 mph? An 85 mph speedometer would make more sense.
Even a little bike needs to dream ;)
@@forgottenmotorcycleschange the power/ratio in the bikes power chip to increase speed by software.
Thanks for the review. For grins, watch this India towing test by the Meteor 350 (yes, a small car towing test at time 7:35): ruclips.net/video/HQCaXst_wNQ/видео.html
Very cool. Thanks! Says something about that grip bar too. Love that new Meteor!
120km/h for a 350 is low. Its the maximum.
It is.
20 horsepower from a 350?. Sounds gutless to me. No matter how much tou big it up
It's an interesting ride for a low powered bike. If you want speed the Meteor is not the bike to ride.
In most European countries we have a 40-50 mph legal limit, with 65 mph on the motorways.
It also must comply with A2 and be Euro5 certified.
It's not made for the US market, it's designed for India and Europe, hence the rickrack gear shifter.
@@Airpang100 I feel the bike will appeal to city folk and short commute riders. Seems like a nice motorcycle.
65 mph! On a new engine! Really 🤔
Very smooth at speed.
the rear fender area is ugly a/f my opinion ......
Two things I'm still out on. The tail light looks and how the shifter mechanism will hold up. RE has done a good job.
Better then the Rebel taillight
