    This is yet another song with a relevant message: don't just sit in your corner, pick up your "weapon" (not in the literal sense) and "fight" to change something that's wrong. In the 1st chorus she's laying down some of the things that are wrong in this world and asks "Who is gonna be the one?" to take action, in the 2nd chorus she's saying "now that you've picked up your cause and the weapon to fight for it, stand up and shout "I'm gonna be the one!". Very strong social, political, environmental message.

    I was hanging out for this reaction and the build up was worth the wait. I'm so glad you did this one after seeing all those other jinjer videos. If you had done this one earlier on I think it would have given you nightmares but you were ready :-).
    Some of the central themes of the Cloud Factory album are pollution and greed and "Who is Gonna by the one" covers both these topics - one of the few songs where their lyrics are more "straight up". The song itself is also fairly straight up but I love that there is so much going on below the surface. The interplay and counterpointed lines/rhythm between bass, guitar and drums is amazing.

    Shes an absolute genius songwriter and her stage presence is superb. And everyone is always 100% on point, loving all these abstract changes in their songs, and yet they're always flawless. Possibly my favorite band right now, only discovered them a year ago. Remains to be seen if they stand the test of time and are still one of my favorites in 10 or 15 years.

    Yes, this is from "Cloud Factory". The entire album has an environmental theme. The album title comes, as I hear it, from when Tatiana, and, Eugene, the bassist, were outside in their hometown of Gorlovka. It's a very dense industrial region, with a LOT of coal mining. Tatiana looked up at the smokestacks billowing dark gray into the sky, and, she commented that, "That must be where they make the clouds."

    Your favorite Jinjer song is up to you - it's what you feel. :) This is my favorite because it speaks to me and my experiences, but I wouldn't even say it is their best song.
    Some people feel this song is angry, but to me it is just very uncompromisingly assertive. I suspect the head rush you felt is your subconscious reaction to that energy and Tati's ability to evoke emotions in us as we listen.
    In any crisis, nearly everyone waits for someone to "be the one" to "step up from the crowd" and do something about it. However I see the song saying not that somebody needs to step up, but that we all need to step up, because no one person can solve the multiple crises facing humanity from the ongoing extinction event, to climate change, to mass automation that will bring great depression level unemployment by the end of the next decade as a relatively optimistic estimate while worst case scenarios are for up to double that level of unemployment by 2025 - and whatever that level end up being, it will just be the first step as nearly all jobs are either automated or become irrelevant when the people who would have paid someone to do a job no longer have jobs. We all have to do what we can, to build a better world where all of us and the rest of earth's living things have a place not just a few billionaires.
    One of the more intriguing lines to me is "don't step aside/fight back with full force/pick up the weapon/of your own choice" which on the surface sounds like saying "pick a weapon and fight" but I feel like it is saying "choice *is* our weapon" as opposed to blindly doing what the marketing tells us and never mind the consequences.
    I think the lyrics at the end are quite profound as well. I see it as saying to understand and accept the bad choices of our past but not to be bound by them. We tend to feel a powerful sense that consistency is important which makes it hard to change our fundamental beliefs and behaviors. When we learn that we've been lied to and manipulated, it is tempting to imagine otherwise, that we didn't really believe that stuff. But on one hand that would separate ourselves from the power of our own authenticity, and on the another hand provides no support for others who are still working through their own change processes.

    • @lexablack2316
      @lexablack2316 5 лет назад +2

      So on point again, as usual. ^_^ And re: automation, I really do think a UBI (universal basic income, for those not familiar) will eventually be needed--likely sooner than some could ever expect--across the board as more and more jobs are lost to automation, otherwise the income gap will be even more insane. And the top percent in charge of soon enough full automated labor reaping rewards well in excess of what can be spent by them alone, and is needed en masse, to support our economy and the global economy as well.
      Beyond that, I would both say choice is one of those "weapons" of our "own choice," but not the only one in the toolkit, and depends on the situation and severity of the problems. It's being reasonable against whatever problems we have, facing them head on, finding a way to resolve differences if at all possible, but in dire situations, taking the necessary steps to stem damage and improve life for everyone, and in the worst of cases, avert annihilation.
      Regardless, love the band as a whole, and Tatiana's vocal and lyrical mastery.

      Scissors, Destroy, Exposed As A Liar, and Waltz are songs from before Tati joined the band that she re-interpreted to leverage her skills. Waltz doesn't grab me but Scissors is really good, Exposed As A Liar has cleans that sounds like 50s jazz or something, and Destroy may have my favorite vocal sequences she has ever done here she kinda raps but switching seamlessly between high cleans and growls mid-line.

    This is a great song to showcase Tatiana's vocal range, especially with the harsh vocals. This live video is awesome, but if you go and listen to the album version you can hear her voice much more clearly.
    Starting at 4:00 in the studio version (at the break) she starts with the tunnel throat (arguably the lowest, most difficult, and most brutal type of growl), then she goes into a deep guttural (false chord), then moves to a high fry scream with natural vocal overtones to make that blood-curdling scream. Then to top it off she finishes with that jazz/reggae outro.
    Listening to that part of the song gives me chills every time

    Hey babe. I'm Teresa. I'm from a small town in NC. Dallas NC. Gastonia is the big city closest to me. Out here in the backwoods. Some would and have called me and my ppl out here dumb hicks. When I say, my ppl. I'm sure you can relate. Through the years of dealing with Bullshittery and 2 faced individuals who fooled me once. But .. as soon as STUPIDITY pops up and drama seeking ppl always keep it going. I've learned a hard lesson. I've got a small circle of ppl that's no matter what in it. But ya know the old saying. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer. I go by that philosophy. Arms link. I would like to talk to you more. I seen your reaction videos to Upchurch and a few others. Never seen you on here before. I think its refreshing to have a educated woman reacting to different genres of videos. All I know is a couple of the guys. That I like. But .. it seems like they just stick with what's most popular or that stupid word ... TRENDING. UGHHH ..... why not listen or watch all kinds of genres and I dare say, stuff that some would judge it by other pols comments or the titles. You know what I mean. I hope. Lol... ok babe. Hit me up if you want some ideas. First of all I really want to know what you normally listen to. Just want a sista friend ship. I'll send you subscribers. These guys just keep it childish a bit. Petty bullshit. I'm an educated 43 country girl. Mother of 3. Music is my outlet. I'm still mourning over the loss of Chester Bennington. He has helped me through some shit. 😞😜😐

    Love all the Jinjer and you going out of your comfort zone to react to it. And if you can digest Jinjer.....you can certainly handle Tool. You react to Pantera! • @Neal_YouTube

      Not sure how you can say that about any band in the history of ever. I agree that Jinjer is very good live, but no band, no human, can do live what they can 'produce' in a studio. Maybe the point of contention is what do you define 'better' as? I define it as sound quality of the song, and the vocals. For example, I could easily find live footage of Jinjer where the sound quality is shit, just because the device recording the show didn't capture it well. This is in no way better than the studio version to me.

    • @j.f.fisher5318
      @j.f.fisher5318 5 лет назад

      @@Neal_RUclips It is not uncommon for bands that perform live frequently to be better live than in studio. Because a song isn't just a pattern of sound waves, it is a work of performance art. Being on stage performing in front of real fans pumps them up so they give a level of passion that is impossible to replicate in the studio. Conversely, for bands that only perform their work live occasionally, live shows generally aren't as good. It is a matter of the mastery needed for a performer to express themselves through their art.

    • @Neal_YouTube
      @Neal_YouTube 5 лет назад

      @@j.f.fisher5318 I get pumped up hearing the song sound like it is supposed to, and in many (not all) of these cases, the videos present a better visual to look at than just the band playing live. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree.... Actually I can think of a song where I agree with you - Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden. The studio version sounds anemic
