    Honestly would like to see Giants try to be creative and trade away their excess OF/older players and maybe do a 3 team trade where they get back an SP. If that doesn’t work, do what Farhan does best and work around the margins. If 100% healthy, someone like Kiké Hernandez. Someone that can play SS (to backup Luciano) and be utility role. Assuming that isn’t going to Tahiro. Don’t want to see Schmitt to play SS anymore. For SP, again if only 100% healthy maybe someone like Ryu might be a good pick up. I do agree a front line starter is needed for the Giants, but not 100% sold on either Snell or Montgomery. They will command/want too many years and not sure they will be in their primes when prospects are getting promoted. Don’t personally like the current roster contraction of the Giants. A lot of misfit piece that seem to work together but not sure how stable it is for 162 game seasons.

    There's one way to rid this team of OF surplus, and that's sign a real DH. If Zaidi gets JD Martinez, then Giants can trade Conforto, Sabol and Flores in return for more pitching. Also, it brings thump into the lineup and opens up spots for defenders who were taught, as a pre-teen and young teen, how to play "real" baseball despite being taught nothing by youth coaches. This utility, platoon player line up Zaidi dreams up just doesn't result in strong defense no matter who's coaching these 2nd tier misfits with two left feet.

    There's strong rumors again the Padres are willing to trade Kim. I would trade one of the outfield players and get Ballinger and trade for Kim. That would give them a solid SS and let the rookie develop some more. That gives them two more big bats and covers second base.

    I'm not sold they're actually trying. They have one thing to offer free agents, most money. They haven't done it. I like the positivity but at some point media that covers the Giants need to tell fans to show up with pitchforks and ask for heads to roll. Ownership needs to start taking chances, open your pocket books.

  • @michaelmartinez3500
    @michaelmartinez3500 10 месяцев назад +1

    If Zaidi can't talk JD Martinez into coming to SF, and that's a real possibility. Then, Giants need to go after Hyun Jin Ryu, because it may benefit them if they can get 20 starts out of that guy to save their bullpen, and it would help their team culture now that Jung Hoo Lee's on the team. Once you have lefty Ryu, Giants won't feel obligated to a blackmail signing for 10 yrs of Snell.

  • @tloz92

    At the start of the offseason, I was against signing Bellinger. After giving it more thought (and the Giants striking out miserably on Ohtani and Yamamoto), I think he could be a good fit.
    Pros: Adds athleticism, power, speed, and he’s versatile defender (can play 1B and all outfield spots at a high level), he’s still young (28), coming off a good year. He would be a middle of the lineup type hitter for a team that desperately needs it and he’s marketable to fans.
    Cons: Could go back to being dog shit (like his 2020-2022 seasons), strikes out a lot and he’ll be expensive. The years/$ amount he’ll demand might not be worth it.
    Honestly I'm just getting desperate for them to sign a player with proven talent. Please, for the love of god, don't sign Matt Chapman (they probably will).

    Kerry, Snell is going to age like milk with that walk rate. Snell has Keuchel vibes written all over him. As for signing 1 guy to get into contention I think that is a pipe dream that is best to put to rest. This team has too many hypotheticals to be thought of as contenders. Signing a player to an albatross contract when this team doesn't have an anchor is how we end up the mid 00's and early 10's Mariners. If Snell or Hoskins is willing to do a 2-3 year deal then I'd say sure why not but 5-7 years on these guys? Pass. Nothing is likely to come up anyway considering how the Giants walked away from Imanaga whom I thought was paid rather reasonably.

    Corbin Burnes is a free agent after next season. If I'm choosing between Snell and Burnes to pay in excess of $25 million a year, I'm definitely going with Burnes. Lots of expiring deals after next season for the Giants: Cobb, Stripling, Jackson, Flores, Davis, Conforto, and Slater... We had all those potentially exciting rookies play last year. If the real recipe for success for the Giants is a homegrown core, why should we block any of those players in their development with veterans of this FA class who have such huge question marks, and who Boras will make us grossly overpay for? The way I'm seeing it, we let the young guys develop in 2024, all those veterans come off the books, we give starting jobs to the guys who earned them, then add FAs accordingly around our new core. If we want 2024 to not totally be a wash, sure, add Hoskins on a one year deal... Long story short, we've built an insanely dysfunctional roster over the last few years and it might not be the wisest thing to add to it rn

    • @JayO-wx3ej
      @JayO-wx3ej 10 месяцев назад +1

      I think the Giants can afford to add both Snell this offseason and Burnes next offseason. The payroll table, as you note, looks clean or very clean depending on what Robbie Ray does with the optout. When the Giants let Gausman walk and signed Carlos Rodón, many journalists and fans looked at Rodón as replacing Gausman but there was easily enough payroll space to fit both onto the roster. It was a false choice the Giants could easily have afforded both and been under $200M in payroll. I don't think Giants fans should fall into a similar trap. The Giants have a difficult time accessing top tier free agent talent and the market for Burnes is going to be robust. If the Giants can get Snell on a reasonable over pay they should consider doing it. It's been reported that Snell has a preference for the west coast (as he's originally from the Puget Sound area). Corbin Burnes is from the greater LA area and went to St. Mary's College so he's a California guy with some Bay Area ties but unlike the reporting on Snell, there's no indication that Burnes actively prefers the west coast. When the regionality topic comes up in interviews Burnes is very disciplined and almost seems to go out of his way to say he doesn't have a preference on region.

    Giants acquired Lee, Ray, Hicks, Hopkins and Murphy while Dodgers got Ohtani, Yamamoto, Glasnow, Hernandez and Margo. Giants are puny mortals vs greek gods, and Zaidi will roll the Sisyphus rock uphill with futility only for Giants players and fans to get crushed on it's way back down. Their most important concern hasn't been addressed, and that was lack of health, defense and team speed. How will one blockbuster FA make them competitive with a super team or get them in the postseason?

  • @robpool7814
    @robpool7814 10 месяцев назад +1

    The Giants currently have 39 guys on the 40 man roster. So realistically they can only sign one free agent at this time. That is unless, they are willing to DFA one of the players they picked up this off season (Sweet or Hopkins). Everyone knows they are going to be forced to trade Bart this off season. I would think they might be thinking of packaging him with JD Davis or Villar (along with a young pitcher) to get someone like Kim out of San Diego. I think the Padres have a good catching prospect so Bart might not be that interesting to them. And I think they might have to give up an outfielder (they’d probably want Matos). But Kim only has one year left on his contract. So maybe Ramos would be enough. Anyway, I think a trade is coming before another free agent signing.

    If we have learned anything from Farhan is he is clueless when it comes to acquiring difference making position players from an offensive perspective. His 3 top moves in this area have been pretty disastorous, so why should we expect anything less. We shouldnt. If the past is a predictor of the future, whoever else Farhan brings in will underperform also. He is an expert at filling the back end of the roster abd bringing in pitching reclamation projects, but he has been at or below average in almost every other area. But as long as the Johnsons are profitible, don't expect any major changes. If Farhan get another shot after he fails miserably with the SF Giants, he would be much better served going to a small market with a cheap owner. We have a cheap controlling owner (and his clueless nepo kid) in a large market with much higher expectations. It's not a great match: incompetence at both levels. But hey, at least Farhan can name drop posey and baker while he very poorly attempts to sell us on his crap version of baseball. And I don't blame Baker, getting money thrown at him and a free invitation to the park, all for the rights to use his name. 😂

    cody bellinger because the lineup is super bad. There is some hope with the young starters. There’s zero hope with the lineup as of right now imo.

    Sf will sit smugly on what they got, I predicted this on Larry Krueger hread, its totally come true. Not a single addition. Nothing. You talk up ray, hicks, I laugh!!! Good luck!! One is TJ rehab, the other a setup man. You have only one starter. You start the season in last place at every aspect of the game, accept BP. And BP is the last the final element you build, after you are done with rotation, and Defense!! WTF r u doing??? No starters no position players, you hit 230% bottom of mlb! Worst!! Your FP% and errors, are the worst in the entire mlb!!!! You spend money on wax, and tire shine, for a car that don't run? Now you got fans worked into a frenzy, thinking your buying them a hood ornament!!! From a rolls, putting it on your vwbug.
