That losers semi finals might have been the funniest set of any platform fighter ever played, just 5 games of pure unga bunga on nothing but rock wall. Peak rivals.

This is more of a representation of character popularity within the Rivals 2 community because, in case you haven't noticed, almost all of the more popular characters are ones that feel the closest to Smash characters (I'd say Fleet feels more like a Smash character than a Rivals one because her gimmick isn't as involved as everyone else's by comparison). Meanwhile, the characters that are not as popular are ones that do not have a clear Smash counterpart, such as Maypul, Orcane, and Forsburn, so people are not as willing to play as them.
For everyone watching, keep in mind that there is no Stango, Switch, Nogh, or other high level players in this bracket. Also, Rongunshu did fall pretty early into losers this bracket, which did shake things up quite a bit. Would CakeAssault still win the bracket? I’d say 100% of the time, yeah. Would Zeebee still make Grand Finals? I’d say >50% of the time, yeah. Just my thoughts on this tournament, at least.
@@SkimoStories I think Fleet, Kragg, and Ranno are definitive top 3. Wrastor and Clairen are right behind them in low S tier. The rest range from A tier to C tier(Forsburn needs buffs) in my opinion. I can understand where you're coming from, but I have to respectfully disagree.
This top 8 basically shows everything wrong with the current meta of this game. Half of top 8 is only two characters, Kragg and Fleet, and they're the only characters left in top 4. I'm surprised that there weren't more Ranno players considering how broken he is. Fortunately these characters are supposed to get nerfed in the next patch according to leaks, so the game should be in a much better spot next update.
@@RiahGreen that's the problem, the game isn't fun right now. Ranno, Kragg, and Fleet being the only characters that have gotten results lately is pretty concrete evidence that they're objectively stronger than the rest of the roster. Having a small selection of characters be that much better makes the game boring to watch and frustrating to play. Another problem is that these characters (mostly applied to Kragg and Ranno) are piss easy, which not only means that there will be a lot more people playing them, but also if you're not playing as them then you'll have to heavily outplay your opponent to even have a chance at winning. I don't claim to be good at Rivals 2 by any means (gold rank Wrastor player), but everything I do feels incredibly clunky because these problem characters are able to cover my options with minimal effort (not to mention that at least 50% of my games are against Ranno/Kragg). After only a week or two of the game being out I've resigned myself to waiting for the next patch because the game is just not enjoyable in its current state. TL;DR no offense, but this advice kinda sucks
@@iamshabingus i mean it still seems like largely a you problem. I'm not saying the game is perfectly balanced but im having tons of fun in low diamond, and i dont play a top tier
Stopped playing bc the lag after getting hit is ridiculous. My characters goes up, stops, then goes down and I still can’t move, only to be hit again. This game is supposed to be fast paced, why does it take 2 entire seconds to play the game again after a stray hit???
hitstun is more like in Melee, allowing for more expressive/creative combos compared to Ultimate, for example. I feel like it's actually slightly decreased from Rivals 1, just takes getting used to and you can also use it for your advantage.
You can drift DI and change the angle after you're hit. You still actively control how hard you get comboed and at most levels just knowing which direction to DI will let you defensively exit combos, it doesn't take 2 seconds to play the game again you ARE playing the game while being combo'd, dropping your controller and letting yourself get bullied is why those combos last so long
I see your point and while I agree sure you are playing the game, if even the highest level of play can’t DI enough to escape 5 second strings of hit stun or random bair to deaths then I don’t know how it’s expected us plus normal players can. Just look at the highlight- Clairen hitting a random down air mid stage on maypul and killing top left with a follow up after 2 whole seconds, or Kragg getting forward air kills wayyyyy after the previous up air. Yea it’s part of the game, but it feels awful and one sided to play. Maybe I’m too used to ultimate but there’s no way in hell my character should go through 3/4 of an arc before I can think about moving again.
Watching kragg vs kragg is like watching two monkeys from different cages throw poop at each other and I'm here for it
Two beetles going unga bunga is so funny im fine with kragg being top tier

Zeebee ion was peak rivals, there will never be a set like that again
Kragg is a slapstick cartoon character and I absolutely love it.
It’s literally a month into the game, I feel like there’s time for there to be a set like that in the future😭
Though tbf, the set was just majestic
it was a crazy set but that was only a month of this game. i’m sure in a year or two theyre gonna be playing an entirely different game then
What a stacked cast of commentators damn
Ty for making these for every major :) this is the only way I kept up with Rivals 1
14:05 the two arrows colliding is robinhood shit
I LOVE WATCHING LEFFEN LOSE!!!! GET HIS ASS ION!!!!!
Not only losing but forfeiting, trully one of the matches of all time
No better way to start to a Rivals tournament highlight video than clips of Leffen getting tossed around
um, he beat void at the start
He beat void lmao

Watching Rongunshu hit the Larry multiple times in bracket is GIVING right now OML.
Cake needs to be nerf, he is just too strong for the meta
Make him play with one hand or something :P
He can only play Lox from now on 🤣

You should put the date of recording in the description
Wow Lilfox made it big
fr i remember them in the px weekly tournaments in the crowded commentary channel. i give similar respect to mystery sol, too
7:12 was a fuckin' statement
this game needs to come to console asap
Leffen made a very impressive run concidering he is a Guilty Gear Strive player :)
Do you know he played smash bros melee before strive?
@NaNomeqe And he was pretty good at Ultimate, too.

Just have fun! The game is new. We have no idea who's actually good yet.
