Hi friends! I just made a follow up Google Cal video that answers some of these FAQ’s in the comments! ruclips.net/video/SGfHD_Go1c0/видео.html ~ I listed the timestamps, so you can fast forward to the part that interests you the most! Hope this helps :)
Interesting that you mention the colors first. I LOVE the loud default colors, it's one of the best selling points for me. I love that it screams at me. 😂
This is soooo helpful! So glad i found your channel. Totally relate to approaching productivity as a means to make more time for self-care rather than pushing tasks to the brim to the point of not having a life at all. YES YES YES
I love how you talked about productivity as a form of self-care. Whenever someone asks me why I am so stringent with my planning and organization I always explain that I do it to avoid feeling stressed and a lot of people find that very weird but it is just what works for me haha
Omg same my friend exclaiming how efficient I am for packing my suitcase and making a list of what I'm packing weeks in advance but like....it's anxiety 😂 and my brain is forgetful so I need the extra precautions
Love the approach to calendar organization, especially task batching for productivity. To add to this, I’ve found boost app social invaluable for planning and creating social media content. It fits neatly into my time blocks, keeping my content strategy organized and stress-free.
Heard about that app but haven't tried it yet. If it can help streamline my social media tasks within my calendar, I'm all for it. Thanks for the suggestion!
Awesome aha moments for me: - Setting daily, iterating themes - setting time blocks vs tasks vs deadlines - then following these schemes actually having the foundation to do task batching - very limited and dedicated time slots for meetings, avoiding having all your energy getting eaten by other people And I certainly want to keep the color schemes in the back of my head.
Okay this was sooooo helpful. Been meaning to fully set up a functional google calendar and the pretty colors have officially inspired me to do so haha
This is my first time hearing about this as self-care and it resonates way more with me than self-worth where usually my negative self talk resides which in turn created a vicious cycle of "musts" and "shoulds". Thank you for the shift in mind-set!
I love this. I’ve been so afraid to have multiple calendars because I’m afraid of missing an appointment but this is so organized and calm. Very helpful.
another tip: click on any event or block to get the details to pop up,and in the 3-dot menu in the top right, you can duplicate the event. Great for making a single change to a series or for very short term recurring events
Never knew Google Calendar could be so easy to work with! I tried planning with it before, but it never worked for me. I also HATE default colours and the fact that you can change them blew my mind a little, haha. Thank you for such a good video!
YES! Main reason I've avoided using gcal for years, I'm a visual person and I just couldn't work with these colors. It made me not want to look at my calendar
There one thing I don't like about Google calendar which makes me not want to use it, is that they don't have a checkbox or one-click option to mark an event as completed. 😣
@@zainaisnain I recently testing out a lot of planner apps. Finally found one that's everything I am looking for. It's called AnyPlan Planner. It's like using a paper planner, but better. 😉
Making a color scheme and entering the hex values is my take away from this! ✍️ I've always selected the most pleasant default colors I could, but after four or five it would start to look chaotic and I'd keep turning some off. Yours is a great example of how to have 12 calendars that can overlap without causing visual stress -- thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this! Questions: how do you add the type of day (potato, admin, etc.)? I can’t figure out how you did that part specifically. Thanks!
🙋🏼♀️ I have a question: how to add timezone tap in month view. For mine, it only appears in day view. And make the task as a whole box not just bullet point
This was sooo helpful, thanks for sharing your thought process Jules! Currently fixing up my G cal, and don't know how I've lived so long without simply task-blocking!xx
Wow this is so helpful! I have one question: How do you use your time blocks? If you have a meeting block for 3 hours but only one 30-minutes meeting is scheduled: what do you do during the rest of the meeting block? Is it freetime then or would you plan/do other tasks (related to different topics like video cutting) ? I'm still struggling to use my time blocks efficiently, thats why I'm asking :)
I’ve been doing my planning alllllll wrong. I love your explanation on the potatoe/creation days. I was struggling with that lol. I’m going to my calendar and getting it all they way together !
You should have charged us at least $1 for that beautiful calming calendar. I want to send you a tip cause you just saved my life when it comes to being organized and calming anxiety thank you so much
Love that you shared this! Although I find that having multiple calendars can be overwhelming... but I guess that’s the only way to pick your custom colors?
Seems like it. You can choose from a few colors within the same calender but not whichever you want. Google def needs to work on their calendar and make more options :)
This really helped me get organized!! Honestly, I've used calendars for years and never knew you could do this much with it. Love your organization content!
my biggest challenge with time blocking is when everything changes to a new time zone. The meetings are moved in the new time correctly but my time blocks are also moved around which then don't make sense. For example, my morning tea and mindfulness block might go into the evening when I change my time zone (which I need to do a lot as I travel) - any work around for this or do you manually adjust all your time blocks after a change in time zone?
I've been doing this for a while and I love it. It takes a little bit of time to set the calendars up, find the colors you like and establish the recurring "skeleton" events/blocks of time. But once it's done? It's insanely easy to play around with it. I will say though, that the colors were specially annoying for me because I am an organization freak and I kept choosing colors that looked phenomenal on my macbook pro screen, but looked horrendous on my smartphone, so I spent an unnecessary amount of time finding colors that looked great in both. I personally have an almost monochrome calendar that consists of a few lavender shades, a few pink shades and then dark grey for tasks. I use the gradient of the same shade to differentiate my college/work stuff from my personal stuff. It's pretty neat!
I am obsessed with this video! I’ve watched quite a few google calendar videos and this was the best 💗 I was wondering if this set up syncs with your phone? I have normal google calendar with the bright colours (which I also am not keen on) but I want this set up but I need to be able to access it on my phone too xx
I'm right there with you, it took me FOREVER to choose my colors lol. I started to choose colors based on seasons and then that got too much, so I used Newton's color wheel theory to understand how colors complement and contrast with each other and that gave me a great starting point! I really like the colors you came up with - especially the neon yellow for due dates!! Loved. I love how you categorize your days. It makes SO much sense! Thank you, I'll definitely use this concept for sure.
It’s funny, I was doing computer work earlier and came across your site, bookmarked it. Came to watch videos tonight, 2nd time watching I realized it was you again.!! Crazy coincidence
Hello. Can i ask something? I love your youtube channel and i really liked your Video LUTS. Do you sell it? or Would you mind tell me about how can i get it? Please let me know it🙏🙏🙏 I really appreciate to you.
I have an issue with my Google Calendar. I don't know you get to colour code bars. Mine are only coloured dots. The only time I get bars is if I set it to All Day. Please help :(
Oh my gosh I didnt know you could change the colors! Im doing that now! I love the way you do this. Ive been using Trello to time block but i might try this out instead. This looks so nice. This was so helpful thank you for sharing
Hi, thank you so much for your video, it helps me a lot. I have one question I need some of your advice, I have several Google accounts for each specific thing for example for personal life email and work email, when I use Google Calendar should I use based on one account and put everything in or subscribe to that Google calendar? So, I can see everything on one page but then I need to switch back and forth to add events to that account. Thank you in advance 💖
loved every tip in this vid! Inspired to tweak this for my 9-5 to set better boundaries w coworkers and hold myself to task /deadline reminders :) I wonder how many of these capabilities translate to outlook?
Heyya Jules - I am new here. ONe day old follower and i revamped my calendar woohoo - The calendars that i created i.e. AUTHOR, CREATIVE are not syncing onto my phone calendar in the same google account - are you able to help with this?
I'm also guided by colors. Do you know if we can set different colors for each List (that have their own Tasks)? I know that Google Calendar automatically has a "Tasks" calendar, and mine is yellow. But I'd like to have different colors for different Lists. Like, the Lists are my clients, and each List has specific Tasks. So what I want is to open my Google Calendar and see the client's tasks with their specific color. Do you get what I'm saying? I contacted the support, but still no answer (I'm using the 7 days free trial plan because I thought this color thing would be possible. But apparentely you can only set a color for the List when you're at the main page of Google Tasks, not on the Google Calendar page. And the Tasks of each List don't get the color - they're still yellow since my Tasks calendar is yellow...)
Thank you very much for the content you provided. I have two questions, first, about time planning, daily tasks or business. Can I make the program send notifications or alerts, for example, to remind or what should I do at this time according to the plan? Second, do you have a step-by-step video about creating a calendar?
I just hit the like and subscribe button for this channel and I really appreciate the value that this channel and similar channels bring to the community, to the personal development journey of everyone. The truth is that I also owe RUclips for developing myself as I am today and becoming a better version every day. I am always grateful for this and I think it is my turn to contribute value to RUclips, to the community even though it is still very small. That is why I just created the first video on RUclips in my life on the topic of personal development. Hope it will also help the community. Thank you
Hi Jules, thank you for your video! Maybe you have more tips & tricks on how you actually control if your task is done. Do you have an additional task list to see if everything is completed? I like the functionality of tasks that they go over to the next day if not completed, but my main pain point here is not being able to add duration like 5, 10, 15 min.. And when I just put it in the calendar, then sometimes time is over, but the task is not done yet and I have the next time blocker... Thank you for any helpful ideas :)
Thank you Jules! I’ve also been using Google calendar for years and I didn’t even know those tips! Btw I love the background music in this video, could you share the song name, please?
We love the tips you're sharing (didn't know there were hot keys) Changing the colors will be the first I do. Do you have a favorite app to use with the ipencil. I'm trying Notability for study (but background is too light) and Pencil app is great for planning with handwritten notes. Is it productive to use two apps?
I have a question, if you have a set schedule that repeats all week long all month, as a home worker, i wanna set hours of work and break in google calendar, but i dont want to be editing my calendar every week to add the same schedule over and over again, is there a way to do that? so let it be set as a permanent thing? thank u if u reply to this!
Behind every pretty calendar is also a pretty woman 😜 Do you always use the color of the calendar or do you also combine tasks in one calendar and then only change the color for the task?
I love the simplicity of this! I was wondering if you create the time block for each day of the week manually and if so do you dedicate a day to do that? And lol to the potato days, I'm def using that!
Great video! I use Chrome, desktop (PC and Mac) cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the assigned colors for each calendar to span the event.. all I see are little dots for events, wonder if anyone else runs into this? If I can't fix this will have to move to a different calendar for time blocking... yikes.
How do I share this entire thing with my child so she can log into it as well and change things as needed? im asking because I have you color codes (thanks again) . I made a calendar WITHIN my calendar just for her and I to use and see. When I go to change the color of events (within our share calendar) it doesn't give me the option to customize those colors. I can only customize them in the overall calendar NOT within our shared one. does this make sense?
Amazing tips, thanks a lot! Is there an easy way to "accept" invites into a particular calendar? Split them is great when I am inviting, but I only found a copy to other calendar function, that is too manual, specially if for some reason the organizer modify the appointment

I actually like her idea of using more subtle colors for time blocks, but the actual tasks/events are more screaming
