As a lifelong Pittsburgher who grew up only blocks from old Pitt Stadium. I'm heartbroken over this loss. But I'm so proud of our Panther team. Talk about toughness ? Wow ! The Quarterback played an amazing game, taking some devastating hits. But I have to congratulate the young men from Tennessee. Avenging the home loss they suffered to the Panthers last year. The highlights from this game alone are awesome really. Hurdle for a td, blocked punt, defensive struggles, getting knocked out of bounds and coming back in for td, come back to force ot.

Yea especially in the first half from the shot gun... #9 took a snack everytime. They did try to run from under center in the second half tho ..
Give it to Tennessee they never let up
This was a great game. All 3 QBs were harassed all game and special teams was very hit or miss on both sides. Even still they showed enough offense and defense where it didn't look like guys were catching passes wide open all game, yet still moving the ball with great accurate throws.
Slovis looks to have found his mono again and hopefully he's healthy for the rest of the year as they had to go to their backup this game.

Tennessee was grossly let down by their poor offense and atrocious special teams in the second half. Still squeaked out a win. If they clean that up I think they can do something special with this season.
I think your right as a Pitt fan i think the Vols are much improved and beside maybe Georgia or bama. They can surely be favored in every other game in there conference. Think that Pitt will be ok. They make 2 FGs which were make able Pitt wins. Also Tennessee really caught a great break when the reciever pushed off and went out bounce and the dback stumbled . But they rule he was run out of bounce. And took 3 steps out of bounce and was allowed to come back in a catch a touchdown. That was not a touchdown. But that's football, even replay don't get everything right

Looking back at this game a yr later, you can see the growth that Vols team had from week 2 to later that season against the likes of LSU , Bama, and Kentucky. Honestly, that Pitt run game couldve been like kryptonite and a healthy Slovis couldve put nails in the coffin. But didnt play out that way. Go Vols!

I love how at 5:56 the announcer is talking about "playing to the strength of their offensive line" and yet, that is pure running back athletic ability to get that exact run down, no regular running back could have done that with the same offensive line.

Had Tennessee not fumbled a punt return, fumbled a running play, etc..., this game would have been an ugly win for Tennessee on the road at a stadium that wasn't even sold out when it holds a fraction of what Tennessees stadium holds. I guess the SEC is just different than every other conference

TEnnessee's defense was terrible in that game, and the offense had not really gotten fully on track yet. Both improved significantly as the season went on, especially the offense. Had these two teams played in November, it's a UT blowout.
Now Vols have bolstered defense and are poised to do big things in '23. Pitt was a nice diversion, but time to get real.

Field goals really are so important at the end of the game. Recruit good kickers. Pitt kicker is trash. If he makes his FG’s they win. No overtime needed.

Yes sir I’m from the future and I can confirm the better team won even though they played bad. They would go on to win a new years six bowl that season while Pitt would go on to be pretty underwhelming. Be thankful tho, because if the two teams played say 5 weeks later, after TN figured things out, then Pitt would have gotten hosed by 45 points.

That was a hard fought game with the starting QB hurt. Too many missed opportunities. Pitt been a elite team during it's history and has placed big time players into the NFL for years.

We gifted Pitt great field position multiple times, and Tillman dropped a TD pass hell catch 9/10 times, so we could've won by 20 easy without those mistakes..
