What a game this was
Even though Tennessee has been near the very bottom of the SEC for quite some time now, I must still give credit to Pittsburgh for beating an SEC team in an SEC stadium in the south. That's typically a challenge for out of conference teams, even when the competition is that of a struggling SEC team. Either way, huge win for Pittsburgh's program in my opinion. That team looks really solid this year. Hopefully Tennessee will get it together eventually and be competitive in the SEC as they once were several years ago.
Yeah, TN hasn't been really much of a threat since 1998.
Maybe one day they'll get their stride back.

Leaving the offensive-minded new UT coach muttering to himself, "How come Pitt's one QB is better than all mine put together?" UT hasn't had a great QB since Peyton. That was, like, 1997. UT may never ever return to glory.
UT has had a few really good and since Peyton? Eric Angie, Clausen, Dobbs, Tee Martin, even Tyler Bray was a really good QBs. We haven't had a great season in quite some time, but we've certainly had some quality QBs

I’m sorry but this comment is just wrong. The “glory days” weren’t even realized with Peyton as QB, it was Tee Martin that was the QB for our natty. Not to mention that UT was still in the picture for about 10 years after Manning left. UT’s last SEC championship game was in 2007. Pitt’s QB is amazing and UT’s defense was not good at all , but UT’s own penalties gave Pitt that game. Penalties and turnovers lost the game for UT
they’re not gonna show where tennessee got cheated out of a first down where the ref poorly spotted the ball when they got to about the 2 and they marked him down around the 4
Yeah, that would have tied the game up most likely. Would have given us first and goal. There were a lot of bad calls but that one took the cake. 100% his foot was over the yellow line on tv. I remember it well.
The confounding stat is that Pitt either went 3 and out, or scored...Never seen that happen before.
Kenny Pickett probably has played his toughest game since his freshman year when he beat Miami

Watching the score go back and forth, with all the offense on both sides, the play that sealed the outcome was the interception with under 5 minutes left. Key defensive plays late in the game often prove to be the deciding factor.
Bad special teams coaching today for Pitt. 2 guys back to block for the punt in your own end. They just send 3 and it's an easy block. Every other college team I watched today had 3 guys back on every punt. Great game by Pickett.

QB looks promising, but his O-line got ripped apart and yes, definitely a pass D. Overall, way too many stupid mistakes.
TN D line already has 4 interceptions in 3 games.
Let it be known that Tennessee got punished by a Pitt penalty. A Kick Six was taken off the board because of off setting penalties (after change of possession), and the refs decided to replay 4th down. So if Pitt wouldn't have committed a penalty, Tennessee woulda gotten the ball instead of replaying 4th down. Thanks stripes.

Joe Milton is to robotic he can’t see the whole field he has a great arm but just can’t hit a target very well. He tends to overthrow his target a lot. As a Michigan fan I hope you guys can get him straightened out but he couldn’t do it in the north I don’t think he’ll do it in the south
@@DirtTrailAdventures You’re right. I know You can’t remove the cerebral aspect from quarterbacking. You have to be able to read defenses at some point. And like you said, you have to be accurate enough to hit open receivers. I remember when Steve McNair came to the league. Until he learned how to read defenses his best friends were a solid running game (Eddie George), a great tight end (H-back-Frank Wychek), and his ability to scramble. Same thing with McNabb and Vick. Difference is, though, all of those guys COULD THROW. Milton, though…..eh! If it doesn’t pan out he can never say that he didn’t get a fair chance, though. So far he just hasn’t delivered.

Tennessee just needs to create turnovers. They do pretty good against the run. They held Pitt under 100 yds rushing but secondary indeed need to start creating turnovers too.

I didn't see the game live, and only saw this reel once, but the total lack of flags on half of those "highlight plays" is pretty concerning. The point of refs isn't just fair play, its to avoid unnecessary injury. Sounds like from some comments TN and the refs spotting were competing with how sloppy the game would go.

Worst officiated game of all time. The Hooker 3rd down, Wright TD, Milton "fumble" and Banks block in the back call on the Kick return TD are 4 of the worst calls in recent memory. All in one game. Refs need to be heavily fined, suspended or fired.
