One of my goals after shoulder surgery is to take up fishing, I’m glad I came across this video as other seasoned anglers have mentioned a whip to me (never heard of this before!) so looks like a good bit of kit to start. Great video - subscribed 😊
Another awesome production BB your enthusiasm and excitement is infectious. Your explanation and commentary throughout is perfect just the right amount of info and chat. Affordable tackle clearly doesn’t mean no fish or fun. Thanks for taking your time to share. All the best Pete 👍🎣🎣 tight lines
I like your style, it’s warm and friendly! I like the clarity of your pronunciation for people that don’t have English as a primary language. Thank you for your work!
Brilliant stuff BB. I'm in my 70's and have just returned to coarse fishing after a thirty year affair with fly fishing. I've never owned a whip, and your video has convinced me to buy one, thankyou sir.✌❤ Bob
Really enjoyed that Bud Bird. 😂 Regularly watch, Carl, Snagged Bro and the Gingerfisherman but glad to have discovered you too. Great enthusiasm. Also sold me on the whip. Gonna be getting one for my lad. 👌
I am a pleasure angler and was struggling a bit of late at my local fishery. This video opened my eyes to a very simple method that I never even considered. Well I decided to invest in a whip, a system whip (8M) yeah a bit pricey however, the reason for opting for this is that I live very close to a canal and I wanted to use it on my local fisheries as well so that I have a range of 3 - 8m depending on where I am and the fish are. Anyway I am waffling. I went out to one of the bigger fisheries in the central belt of Scotland yesterday (Saturday 28th May) and decided to spend the day fishing only on the whip and I was not disappointed. Well the catch was a mass of perch and roach. A few Bream, 1 Ide, 1 mirror carp (about 1lb) and the highlight was a lovely tench at about 1 1/2lb. What a day! Another great video that motivated me try other methods of fishing which is why I subscribed. A very simple and cost effective method that I will be introducing my stepsons to. Keep up the good work!
This is such a great comment Neil! Breath of fresh air mate… so good to hear about your day and how this video opened up a different perspective on fishing in general! It’s really made me smile! Welcome to the channel and I look forward to reading more comments from you in the future… thanks for sharing 👍🏻 BB
probably the best video ive seen in a while , what absolute fun that looks, although i was half expecting it to spring back and hit you on the head. You should do an all whip match for your next charity match 🤣😂🤣.
You could Mr T… but it wouldn’t be too long… I reckon you could get 1 metre worth of elastic, which to be fair, would do the job… you would need to cut it back and then put a PTFE bush in the end 👍🏻 BB
Great video with once again sound content. Just a thought, check with the fishery as not all fisheries allow a whip which hasn't been elasticated. This is due to fish care. Just a thought to open up any debate.
Great shout Colin, and to be fair, I never checked, but the owner was with me, and he was impressed by its ability… but great point… check with your fishery! 👍🏻 BB
Fabulous review. Consider me subscribed. I'll definitely be buying one of these off the back of this video. I've sent the link to my son too who is just getting into fishing.
them fish look a bit mullered on the top lip... they havent got one...... i fish like this its great fun on these commercial venues, you know theres a good stock of fish and will catch... i have introduced my missus to fishing.. now im 55+ years old its a great day out..flask -sandwiches etc..toilets..cafe on site most of these places now...ive done the freezin to death on a river in a match to death mee... its just summertime fun now.... these whips are great i have simillar.. if you are worried about a larger fish breaking you... you can simply use 6-8" of elastic on the end ,then tie the rig to that....
Great comment Pmay… the fish do take a beating in commercials and unfortunately some deformities are due to just that, but some are genetic, a lot like us humans… I enjoy the summertime fishing far more than the winter… it’s ok, if you have the right cold weather kit, and normally that comes at a premium price… I’ve seen an 8” elastic placed on the end using a Dacron backwards and attaching line to the elastic using a double uni knot 🪢 thanks for taking the time to comment 👍🏻 BB
quick question mate as new to whip fishing. If using the 4m (12ft) rig and say only fishing 5ft deep, would you not have 7ft of line between pole tip and float and would this be hard to control and would you miss bites by having this length of line.
You’re right Scotty… if you’re catching roach on a ‘natural’ venue, you’re best having the line around 3-3.5m so you can swing the fish in… whip fishing isn’t really about fishing in 3ft of margin… because of the length of line, you’re quite restricted really, ideally fishing in 6-7ft of water and that will give you a short enough line between end of whip and float… if you are fishing in 3-4ft, and you don’t want flailing tangling line everywhere, just shorten it… but with the telescopic whips, you’ll need at least 4m landing net handle to reach the fish when landing due to the short line between whip tip and float… also, unlike keeping your tip near the water with poles, you may need to raise your whip to take the tension of the extra line… I hope that makes sense 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ BB
Great video BB brings back childhood memories and one of the methods I learnt how to fish 🎣 maybe I need one for my next match or there always ⛳️ 😂😂😂 caught bigger fish than I did other week all I had was perch out of new on casters
Haha, Micky, you make me laugh buddy… it’s a bit different when you have the whole lake to yourself! Chuffed to bits you enjoyed it mate, I certainly did! 👍🏻 BB
Absolutely Wayne 😂🤦🏻♂️ Eagle eyed! It’s nice though 😏 I thought about taking my lads Shakespeare Omni handle, but it was 2m long and with a 4m telescopic whip, thought I might struggle to land the fish 🤣 Any excuse to use the Aventus 🤣 BB
@@waynenippard5933 nothing wrong with the acolyte Wayne, like I’ve said before… but the Aventus is a thing of beauty… just don’t ever hold it if you don’t want part money for one 😂 BB
I have to admit, it was great fun Bobzi… I have a feeling that first one that got away was foul hooked… doubt even elastic would have stood a chance 😂 BB
No John… Tunnel Barn sell ready made rigs from £3, so if it broke, I simply thought I’d have to buy one, so wanted to make the day for as cheap as possible, and the fact I didn’t need spare hooks meant it really was as cheap of a day as it could have been, but the option to buy more was only a 2 minute walk away 👍🏻 but good shout 👏🏻 BB
@@FirstTimeFishing Wasn't been clever but the average cost of a packet of hooks is £ 2 , £5 for a spool of line, £3 for a method feeder.. Fishing not the cheapest hobby. Love my fishing but not willing to pay £8 for a days fishing as I go several times a week. No shops on local canal .Love your posts
