Carver was the only cop who learned anything over the course of the series. Carver is basically the Slim Charles of the police. One could make the argument that Rawls was the Slim Charles’ police equivalent, but Rawls was already a corrupt POS. We don’t know Slim’s backstory & we never will.
This is Colvin's teachings coming out, Carver tried to give Colicchio the benefit of the doubt like he had been given early in his career but realized the guy wasn't worth it and had to be made an example and from the looks of it, the rest of the cops agree.
It's sad that here we are 20 years later still analyzing characters on The Wire. Like Baltimore's changed yo. I wish we could get writing of this caliber to analyze urban America post George Floyd. We Own This City was good but it's not the same.
