Hey my 2004 vw toureg can handle it lots of power an I can lift it up to get 11 inches of ground clearance can can go through 22 inches of water if necessary
I love channels like this. I'm currently looking for an old-school truck that runs well and in good shape and I'll add all the bells and whistles later. Nothing like a metal rig that demands respect on the road and will barely have a scratch on it mean while the new vehicles fall apart from coming in contact with a strong wind.
it looks like our 1988, black with red interior.....we owned ours from 1994 to date, but want to add to it. having 6 kids and parents, it’s. a must. now we have 4 grand kids, it’s going back into use.
My dad just handed me down his old daily driver, an 86 k20 burban, and I have loved that truck ever since he got it back in 05 and now that I'm about to get my license he passed it onto me and I cannot explain my excitement lol
Make a video! Lucky you’ve got a k20 with an upgraded th350 or th400 (or a rare manual) the half ton k10 version only had the th350 and they usually burn up from the constant weight of them.
I loved the square body style of the Chevys back in the 70's/80's. they looked tough and they were/are solid steel. This was when Chevy made great trucks. Awesome job!!
My Son just became a Marine on 2/5/21 from Parris Island. I am buying a GMC Suburban 2500 SLE 2wd for $1500. with 233,000 miles. Your truck is bad ass, I am going to watch the video now. Take care Rick Wood
no fightin or biten....love it. good show keep it up. retired land surveyor, i lived in and out of suburbans for 30 yrs.... never let me or my crew down....you go.
When I was in the military we had to grease our wire (steel rope) cables. It lubricates the strands so that they do not chafe against each others and it also keeps them clean and protected from dirt, water and all sorts of bad things. Also every once in a while you need to clean the grease out of the cable and then re-grease it. That takes the dirt between the strands out and re-lubes the inner cables.
Man a great job by you and your wife. You have nailed all the points I had considered. A full-width security draw for those places that mandate security. Three lucky children; teach them to be capable. Greetings from Greg in Thailand
My first truck was an '86 Silverado. You could beat it to death and fix it back up super easy. Other thing worth mentioning for preppers is that an EMP would only take it out of commission for ten minutes if you keep a couple of cheap and easy spare parts around.
I heard the EMP continuously pulses to take out whatever is repaired. Also they make something for vehicles but whether it will work or not it's yet TBD.
Love it. Had a 1993 Suburban LT. Loved driving that truck. Comfortable, reliable, quiet. It was a road queen, I was a suit and tie guy back then. This is great as well.
Your truck brings me back to my younger days with my old school Blazer hard top that came off and you would assume that a big guy it belonged to lol at the time I was 5'3 and 120 lbs ..yes some great memories of love to have another beast but at 50 yrs old and disabled it's never gonna happen ....but thank u love that hand made bumper ,! 💯
I just stumbled onto this video. You and your wife seem like some real down to earth people. Very informative in your explanation of your winch and locker hubs. I couldj't help but sub, I'm digging the vibe from you guys, esp you. Take care and stay safe.
Love your Suburban, I have an '87 silverado half ton 4x4 single cab long bed myself. They are tough but simple trucks. Easy to maintain and surprisingly capable off road for such a large vehicle. I'll be doing a few videos of mine soon, thanks for the inspiration.
Video of my '87 4x4 pickup truck is on my channel now, feel free to check it out and offer some suggestions of what I should do next. Again thanks for the inspiration.
The second vehicle I ever owned was a 1977 Blazer. My Blazer was a lot like your Suburban, the tires where even the same.I had it for around 8 years and never got stuck in it. I live in North East Tennessee too, so you know I tried lol. I had it in the snow storms we had in 93,96, and 98. They don't make them like they use to. I miss my truck now lol.
Nice truck and video! Our shtf truck is a 93 GMC 3/4 ton ext cab long bed 4x4 with the 6.5 turbo diesel. It may not roll coal like the new ones but it will pull your house off the foundation.
Fantastic setup! You've given me a few ideas about how to set my 98 up. Sully isn't a 4x4, but he'll be the camping rig. Thank you for your service! 🤓 👍 💯 🇺🇲
This Vid is priceless. Thanks to your wife. I bought an 89 Burban 2 months back and this vid got me pretty pumped. Three more kids equals no more vids. :) Thanks Brother PD
I still remember the first time I saw this video,I liked your way then f being, your personally...and I just now saw a video of you and your point of view of what happening with families being rip apart ... God bless you,and thank you.
Lots of great idea for my truck. Ive already have a few thing installed... but after watching this great video ill be adding for sure. Man i just wish in Canada they would let me carry. Shit after serving for 20yrs and still serving....i should have the freaking right to carry.
This is awesome. I have been considering an old suburban as my BOV. I like the organization of your pouches in the rear. Proper video; very universal- no political bs, no preachy stuff, just good old proper information. More people need to do videos like this. Ima gonna check out more of your videos later, very impressed sir. You have a ton of decals, does that interfere with your visibility at all?
New subscriber here. Also Pastor Joe Fox subscriber whom you mentioned. I love your truck it is awesome. I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 4wd and I love it. I also have a 77 Chev Blazer under restoration and rebuild for a BOV. I would love to have a Suburban and have been keeping an eye opren for the right deal. Thanks for your service Marine oorah!!!!!
Just watched your video, I have an 86' 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban Military Version, I've been working on making a Bugout Vehicle for a few years now, I have owned it since 1997, it started out as a hunting vehicle, but in the past 5 years I've been slowly converting it into the ultimate Bugout Rig, you're video has given me some great ideas for mine, keep up the awesome videos, have you thought about adding a Ham Radio setup to your rig, That's how I stay in touch with my family and friends while on off reading overland runs, again thanks for the awesome video, I thought I was the only person building a Bugout Vehicle from a Suburban 👍🏻✊🏼🇺🇸
AWESOME TRUCK MAN COULD IT MAKE A GREAT CAMPER I AM SINGLE I COULD LIVE IN THIS TRUCK LOAD SOLAR ON TOP ABOUT 4 TO 6 AGM BATTERYS AND A 5000 PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER. YOU R A LUCKY DUDE .GOD BLESS AMERICA
Got me my 83 Suburban 6.2. 15600. In GREAT shape. I do not have my winch hooked up yet. my father-in-law is a master welder / fabricator and is building me a brush guard for the front and back. And then I'm going to be coating the entire thing with maxxlife but I am going to stick to the original color scheme. You are an inspiration my friend! Got two tents, four sleeping bags, 4 Life vests a cooler with survival gear and Fire Starting equipment, water purification and dehydrated meals. Also A fire extinguisher. A jack. A jumper box. First aid kit. And I'm about to hook up my CB. Hopefully getting it lifted 3 in. I also got me some good off-road 15" tires. It's definitely my dream machine!Happy And the whole family loves it! By the way I heard you loud and clear the entire video. ;-)
You can never go wrong with an old square body, cars just arent made the same anymore, In that thing you don’t have to worry about no computer, most parts stores carry just about everything you could possibly need for these things, bad ass rig man
I love that truck. I've always liked the early model suburban over the new ones just because they're built to be abused. Very nice vid. Thanks for sharing
Considered adding an additional battery for a parallel or independent system? Would come in handy for winching. Keep a fresh battery for starting while you have another powering radio, winch, roof lights or other auxiliary items. Who makes or sells that roof rack? With those gears, are you screaming at highway speed or not to bad?
Haha! Sippie-Cup! Bless her heart. She was trying! But it's like having your wife hold a flashlight for you. They point everywhere except where you need light! Haha! Just kidding. She's an awesome girl, just for helping you make videos! God Bless Y'all!
I own a 1993 suburban bug out rig. Work in progress, will be posting video shortly. thanks for your video, sharing the preparedness philosophy. Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Thank you so much for not using profanity in your video. I truly enjoyed and picked a lot of useful information from you so I subscribed. I also drive a suburban and I working my way to "bugging it out". I do not plan on getting rid of it. I will continue to pick up helpful hints from you starting with the CB radio. I almost forgot to mention my brother is also a Marine who finished his tour and went on to other things. Thank you so much for your service and helping keep America safe.
Informative video thank you! My favorite model Suburban the square body solid axle trucks! You are very polite and soft spoken I sense your manners where taught growing up or military or both. If that jacket is real then thank you for your service. Few questions what size tire and wheel package is that? Who made those killer front and rear bumpers? What was that spark under neath by the winch when working it? Loose ground or squirrel? God Bless America.
Hey man i used to think you guys were nuts. But man after a few things that happened to me personally. As well as things going on in this country i feel like i have been awoke to whats going on in world affairs. Keep the vids coming man
Outstanding rig brother! I'm just beginning my '89 suburban project, Sleipnir. I thought for where going to pull out some Fiber fix outta that fluids/maintenance bag on inside door. 🤘
Very cool truck!!! I have a "91 Suburban and you have diven me a lot of ideas. love the molle on back doors. And where did you get the bumpers? I've been looking for a rear bumper with tire and Jerry can carriers. Great job my friend.
Back when trucks were trucks and not plastic sports utility vehicles that can't handle speed bumps. I'm very envious.
Hey my 2004 vw toureg can handle it lots of power an I can lift it up to get 11 inches of ground clearance can can go through 22 inches of water if necessary
Grizzly Country - when the chrome was thick and the women were straight!
Your approach/ never Head on just bought 87 love it

My dad just handed me down his old daily driver, an 86 k20 burban, and I have loved that truck ever since he got it back in 05 and now that I'm about to get my license he passed it onto me and I cannot explain my excitement lol

I love the door being locked after the "gangster" comment 😎
I suspect a badass beard is required when owning such a rig.
Deathstroke 0331 lol
Deathstroke 0331 my wife got a beard like that as well... she aint badass though HAHAHAHA
Haha
ULTRA NOOB
She must be a wook eh? I hear they let em in infantry now lol
A beard doesn't make the person badass, the person makes the beard badass.
Nice. Really ready. Love the wheel gun too.
thank you
I loved the square body style of the Chevys back in the 70's/80's. they looked tough and they were/are solid steel. This was when Chevy made great trucks. Awesome job!!

I've always considered an early 80s or (better) 70s burban an ideal bug out vehicle.

I wrap a old leather belt around my winch hook to keep from jamming the pintle end.
Great build !
Absolutely love the truck and even more the custom front bumper

My first truck was an '86 Silverado. You could beat it to death and fix it back up super easy. Other thing worth mentioning for preppers is that an EMP would only take it out of commission for ten minutes if you keep a couple of cheap and easy spare parts around.
Only good if she was a diesel. Gas would go bad months after the emp hits.
If China ever uses an EMP, the US will respond with a nuke.

Sweet Rig. Old USAF Puke here. Posted this on my North Georgia Squarebody Page on FB. My Burb is the cover photo. Again, SWEET Burb!
That is a bloody big truck. Very nice.
Big truck for the UK, but small for America. my little Lincoln coupe or even my two-seater Cadillac make these Suburbans look like Hotwheels cars.
TheDullahan no they’re still considered big in the us.
About the same square footage as Edna ;), eh?
Do have Chevy in the UK?
Love the RV ladder on the back!
The boxed suburban is still one of my all time favorite looking trucks even though they ain't part of my era lol
