Awesome 👍🏼, and this video has two cars I am considering, IS500 and Mach 1. I would love to hear David's opinion on comparing the two (FYI, I am not looking to have either on the track). Just looking for a fun car to be able to daily drive when needed and have an option to take the whole family out when I want a fun drive.
That is500 looks in slow motion compared to the gt3 and black series in the next video. So crazy. I thought it was a warmup lap until I heard the engine screaming.
Amazing set of cars and almost all set new time records for either their segment or beating the previous car from the manufacturer. The Mustang and Porsche where killing it though both looked like fun to drive.
As a PP2 owner it’s really fun to see the Mach 1 HP show off what a Mustang GT is capable of. Granted if you reran a newer GT350R with adjustable camber plates to match the Mach 1’s aggressive track setup and threw in other updates like the no-lift shift so they were on the same footing, my money would be on the Shelby but still it’s impressive. You’d also have to rip out the trunk subwoofer since dealers loved optioning the premium sound system with the R package. I really have to shake my head that Ford allowed that combination. Now what would be really fun to see is just how fast that Mach 1 would go if you dropped in supercharger. Knockoff GT500, yes, but it has a manual so who cares.
I wonder if the 10 speed Mach 1 handling package would beat the gt350r you described above. The gearing would keep it consistently in its power band to make up the lack of horsepower the gt350r has. Not to mention autos are just faster shifting now a days.
You see how much shorter the gearing is ? Normal PP2 gets 120 mph in 3rd 160mph+ in 4th, the Mach 1 get 100mph in 3rd and 125mph in 4th ... Gearing is MUCH better spaced and geared.
@@brandonjacobo4965 2018 GT and up (Gen 3 Coyote) have way longer gearing than 2017 and before... Looks like Mach1 got back to a good gearing. Not talking about final drive, but actueal gearbox ratios.
Like what? The biggest thing for me is that it feels a bit floaty on longer sweeping corners. I'm contemplating Ford Performace springs, sway bars, mageride recalibration. Its interesting that those same springs by Ford are upgrades to the GT350R as well. I recently got a harsness to improve security, but more interestingly, driving feel. This car is so much fun.
@Chi Square I'm thinking about the steeda sport springs for magneride cars. But I looked at the ford performance springs as well its actually a tough choice betweenthe two. Sway bars are going to be after the springs after i see how everything feels. You're right that the R is already kinda been surpassed in terms of the handling. I'm curious about the magneride recalibration!
Great content as always C&D…. hopefully you guys can get an Elantra N for testing next year. I’d be excited to see how that holds up against a Type R and Golf R
I know it wouldn’t make a lot of sense because it’s now discontinued but I would of really liked to see a 2020 GT350R hot lap, with the reworked front end out of the GT500 would be neat to see how much time it could of picked up over the 2016 model.
Please invest in better audio or tweak the volume gain in post, your studio segments are very quiet, and the in-car is likely standard GoPro built-in audio. A $15 mic off Amazon can and would thoroughly improve the in-car stuff. The volume differential between your videos and ads that play on them is very jarring.
How about the Taycan Sport Turismo GTS next year vs the 911 992 GTS!?!? If I am forced to go electric, this is the only electric vehicle I would consider.
I am very surprised at the mustang mach 1 lap time which bested the M2 competition. Is this a function of the track that advantages the NA motor? Also how pointless are these modern M SUVs? Too stiff to be good anywhere including the track. Good thing it has a billion HP.
@@layne4376 I beg to differ. A standard gt? Or pp gt? Either way, neither of those 2 have the suspension setup the Mach 1 has. Now the pp2 on the other hand with some cup 2 tires would be a lot closer to the handling package. I think it would go like this. Handling package M1> base M1=p2 gt > pp gt > standard gt
@@layne4376 pp1 gt doesn’t have magnaride. Doesn’t have the intake manifold, throttle body and intake from the 350 so it’s down on power. They just share the same tire setup. So they’re not the same. I’m sorry but you contradicted yourself a few times
@@layne4376 ok, see, now you specified lol. You need the magnaride on the pp1 in order for it to compete. But I agree. Mach 1 over all is an amazing bargain, especially the HP. As car and driver proved to us. King of the LL2 tier as of rn.

Thank you Carlos and C&D! Great Lightning lap coverage this year :)
Both of these guys are so chill, and humble. Their person makes the content even better.
Damn that Mach 1 punches above its weight class...
With no lift and rev match can we please just admit the 10 speed is better for track since the manual it doing all it can to be that anyways.
Super impressed with Mustang, and the Panamera ,,, great content. I appreciate the lap breakdown and commentary
That panamera was floating around the track!
It’s a magic trick

Team mustang! I definitely going to make some small handling changes to my PP2 because it's really good but could definitely use some minor upgrades.

"The camera adds 10 pounds and takes away 20 mph" 🤣
Wait . . . the Mach 1 was 10 seconds faster than the 2020 GT500 carbon fiber also on Cup 2 tires? Something is not adding up.

This guy drives worse than the others. His laps are full of mistakes.
It would had been nice if you had African American race drivers... And what they had to say about these rides.
