Yes, its like a nostalgia for those who discovered this amazing series in the beggining. With F3 that style changed completely. The free turn based mode was cool as well. Modern V.A.T.S. is not bad either, I also like it. But its not the same! A positive thing is that you can enjoy the first ones even if you played modern ones first, just try it! The atmosphere is very inmersive as well.

Because a lot of people loved FO1 and FO2, but when they got Fallout 3 from bethesda ( anyways, i like TES series ) - that was unexpected. First/third person RPG with action elements...Thank God, New Vegas saved style of FO1 and FO2 ( and used a lot of ideas of Van Buren )

Have Obsidian do the writing, setting, lore and RPG of the game. Have Bethesda do the combat system, graphics and world (based on the lore mentioned above).
I was very young when the first fallout games came out.... Plus the first experience i had was when i bought fallout 3 back when i was 14... Afterwards i bought the first and second game and tried them aswell... And i must admit even if i wasn't old enough to remember when they came out then i really wish that this game would have been completed...
you know, we are almost to that point in technology where a game like this could be recreated by a small team of fans on a modern engine just given the features of this one. i think we are there actually. i know some of the old fans have files of different locations and stuff from what ive read. they were trying to mod the F2 engine, some others were trying to reverse engineer this one. I think the best bet would be to use a modern engine and give it this perspective feature. it would be easy to do, just a lot of creating textures and we would need all those old plans.
There are Modders trying to create van buren. It can definitely be done. There are already fan made fallout games of a similar quality to the main series like fallout sonora.
@@TheDalekCaan_ yeah F4 was the catalyst. previously the people that liked NV were the minority. they liked it for its far better storytelling, many were F2 fans. the haters were mad about bugs, which was bethesdas fault for timeline pushing. then when F4 had the most bland generic story ever and made no sense in many ways, a lot of people went back and played NV again with a different perspective and by then it was patched on console and ran alot better, and PC players had access to NVSE, NV4GB, and NVSR which all but eliminate any performance issues. so without bugs (well some on console...) blurring their vision, they realized all those old fans were right.

I couldn't get enough of it, seeing fallout in full 3d. nv did me good too though. played on nostalgia. still like it more than 3, but nothing beats the transition from 1 and 2 into 3. so fresh feeling. I'd even say 4 started off strong, and feels so open and has better/more fun gunplay compared to 3/nv. but so soulless. even skyrim felt better, and that's such a downgrade from the previous elder scrolls, Bethesda's precious baby golden calf. of course, leave it to modders to fill in for bethesda's negligence. They used to kinda care about their ip's at the very least.

Nonsense, there was a prototype and make a finished game would have been 18 months roughly but Black Isle could not finance more than 6 months of developement, and this is why it got cancelled
Why is that? It looks quite good. The isommetric angle is perfect... I guess I like it because of the other two fallouts recently and loved them. Actual 3D would have rocked.
This brings a tear to my eye now watching it again since Bethesda's Failout 3. The textures here are too clean.. but would of probaly been dirtied up in later development or could be dirtied up by mods, now thats an easy fix to get it perfect, compared to fixing Bethesda's Failout 3 to get it half-decent.
Oh, brother, you should do it. I'm not promoting piracy, but you should at least check them out from BitTorrent or anything. You won't regret it... Or even if you do, they are around 20 mb each, so no big loss.

This would've been an awesome game before 05 or 06. For 2010/2011 Fallout NV is far superior. The only reason someone owudl feel this version is better than NV is because of an attachment to 1 and 2. Withotu that attachment no one at all would think this was better. Now fallotu 3, though good, is a different story...
Remember that NV is pretty much interplays Fallout 4, if a few things were tweaked here and there by Bethesda, Van Buren would be able to be made by Bethesda and slotted in right between FO2 and NV near perfectly.
Hmmm, this is very interesting. Even though in my opinion the Fallout 3 from Bethesda is better I would have really liked to have seen this game. It looks interesting and I like the style (Mostly because I played Fallout 1 and 2) its a shame we never got to see this game, not even a public demo of it. Rest in piece Van Buren same we never got to see you in action in the gaming industry.

They should have went for sprites yet again. The 3D models look really wonky and ridiculous, not to mention that the environments are completely devoid of any atmosphere. Still sad that this game never saw the light of day. The concepts (many of which would later see a reincarnation in the excellent Fallout: New Vegas) are great, certainly better than what we got with the *other* Fallout 3...

Gameplay-wise - I can agree on that. But I liked the stories, the writing and dark atmosphere of old fallouts. I with Inon Zur and Mark Morgan worked together on the soundtrack.
i don't like the first fallouts because they don't appeal to me, not because they're too hard. and fallout 3 is not all killing if you've ever played it.
